Juan Miguel Expósito created TangoCreativo in March 2006 as an alternative to traditional tango teaching, with the collaboration of Daniela Peez Klein, the system’s first student. Since then, Juan Miguel continues to refine, expand and spread the ideas of TangoCreativo, including the publication of a research paper and his first book (only in Spanish for now), “TangoCreativo: una exploración sobre cómo sentir y bailar el tango”. Since April 2019, one of Juan Miguel’s students, Christian Fernández Perotti, moved from Buenos Aires to Cambridge taking with him his master’s permission to open TangoCreativo UK.
TangoCreativo is a complete teaching system based exclusively on improvisation, creativity and expression, using clear and concise explanations, and concepts that are easy to understand and apply.
Structuring a pedagogic system around creativity and improvisation is a very complex task that requires a deep reformulation of the theoretical framework of tango and of the priorities of the dance. This exploration was validated through a multidisciplinary approach with elements of philosophy, linguistics, systems theory, and more. But this research into the best minds in other areas of human knowledge is always supplementary information: the agenda of which problems to solve and the origin of their solutions is always set by normal tango practice.
The main goal of TangoCreativo is to offer students a more humane perspective to work and think about creativity and expressiveness, stopping them from becoming stale theoreticians. At the center of TangoCreativo lies the certainty that we are all capable of finding deep wisdom through self-observation, especially under the guidance of a qualified maestro.

About Juan Miguel Expósito
Juan Miguel Expósito, nephew of the legendary tango authors and composers Homero and Virgilio Expósito, dedicates his life to creativity through teaching, dancing and music.
As a dance teacher and performer, he worked for 15 years at the Universidad del Tango de Buenos Aires – CETBA (Tango University – CETBA) while developing his TangoCreativo method for teaching in parallel since the year 2006. With this method he traveled through Argentina, Latin America and Europe, he advised professional ballets, he taught at the Festival Internacional de Tango de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires International Tango Festival), was published by the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (National University for the Arts) and was a speaker at the 2do Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino (2nd International Tango Argentino Congress) that was organized by that University. He recently published his first book, TangoCreativo: una exploración sobre cómo sentir y bailar el tango, and is working on the English translation.
Pianist, composer and arranger, Juan Miguel won a scholarship from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (National Fund for the Arts), he arranged music for the Trío Montevideo directed by Maestro Gerardo Moreira (Uruguay), he composed for theater and dance, and played in groups with a more modern take on tango and Argentinian folklore. His latest collaborations have been with Martín Alvarado, a singer with a huge international career, playing at the Academia Nacional del Tango (National Tango Academy) and in the Festival y Mundial de Tango 2016 (Tango World Championship and Festival 2016). They are preparing their first CD together. Additionally, Juan Miguel currently shares his arrangements and compositions as a soloist.
About Christian Fernandez Perotti
Christian Fernandez Perotti, is a disciple of Juan Miguel Expósito, from whom he has learned the TangoCreativo method while living in Buenos Aires. Chris is a dedicated teacher, not only of Tango but also of Spanish and Classics.
As a tango teacher, he has taught seminars at the Catholic University of Argentina alongside Celeste Rodríguez, organizer of Domilonga in Buenos Aires and Berlin. He has also specialized in managing large groups, working alonside PALs Argentina in the reception of international students. He has also performed and taught with Natalia Puccioni and Angi Ordóñez at Es Tu Día, the largest event for international students in Buenos Aires, organized by the BA City Government. He has also held regular lessons in Buenos Aires at Teatro La Comedia and several other venues.
For the last five years, Chris has organized milongas in Buenos Aires, such as El Recreo, Tango a Pan y Agua, La Comedia Tango, Bichito Tango and El Látigo. He has also organized seminars for Juan Miguel Expósito and other teachers, as well as tango concerts by guitar trio Lacruz-Heler-Nikitoff and singer Alfredo Sáez. Chris is also an experienced tango DJ, currently working regularly at Milonga del Corazón and La Vida Milonga in Cambridge. He has also been regularly invited to DJ at Domilonga, Maldita Milonga, Sin Gomina, El Fierrazo and many other places.
