🌿Lara & Richard🌿
These two came to me towards the end of April and asked me to help bring the final pieces of their wedding puzzle together.
Lara and Richard are already married, they decided to have a smaller intimate ceremony with close friends and family, however since then they booked out for the weekend so they could hold a festival wedding party for all their friends and family to join their celebrations and dance the night away together.
Tomorrow is going to be a hive of activity with live music throughout the day and evening, axe throwing, archery, glitter art (eco-friendly of course), food vans and more. It’s going to be such a great day and I’ve loved being the one to help pull it all together for them, such a class couple!!!

Happy Wedding Day💚
Today Emily and Jason tie the knot and I’m so excited to share it with them.
I first started working with Emily and Jason back in June 2021 and it’s been such pleasure working with them to design and coordinate their wedding.
They’re such a wonderful couple and I wish them all the luck in the world 💚

🌿Sunday wedding planning advise🌿
As a future bride myself, I totally understand how hard it can be to juggle work, general life and then planning a wedding all at the same time, especially if you're determined to plan it yourself and have never planned a big event before, it must feel pretty overwhelming.
A quick piece of advise and something Pete (my fiancée) and I did at the very beginning when a lot of those early big decisions needed to be made. Rather than doing things piecemeal throughout the week when we were both tired from work, we gave ourselves dedicated time on the weekend and called it our Sunday wed sesh, which was incredibly productive and a lot of fun. We'd go to the pub with a realistic list of things we wanted to do, focusing on the biggest priorities first. Key thing, don't try and do much in one hit, focus on one element at a time and don't punish yourself if you don't tick everything off the list, it's OK, and its why I say make your list a realistic one.
Wedding planning doesn't need to feel like a chore, but something you look back on and have had a lot of fun creating and bringing together. Plus remember if you do decide you need a bit of help, that's OK too. I'm working with many couples this year and next who have done all the planning themselves, but want an extra pair of eyes and hands in those final stages to make sure everything comes together without a hitch. 🌿Local supplier friends🌿
So excited to finally share my new website page called 'Local Supplier Friends'.
A page highlighting and celebrating a few of my favourite Somerset wedding venues, eco-conscious suppliers and local photographers/videographers, all located in and around Somerset.
I love each and every venue and supplier I've included here because in my mind they all offer something a little different and have a uniqueness about them that really shines out.
I've been in the events industry for a long time now, but the wedding industry is a different kettle of fish all together. Suppliers are incredibly friendly, kind and go to any length to help both their clients and the other suppliers they’re working with. It's an incredibly positive industry and I guess that's down to the nature of what we do and happiness we are surrounded by, it's simply infectious.

Such a beautiful calm day on the farm today. Mum and I have been baking all morning getting ready for lunch. She was in charge of the pavlova and I the rhubarb crumble.
Things are now about to become very loud as we go across to my brothers house for Sunday lunch and join him, his wife and their horde of 4 🤣

🌿Why hello there🌿
Finally, just got another big freelancing event behind me and the pooch and I have been out celebrating!
The last couple of months especially, have just been a bit bananas and as ever it’s meant my socials always end up taking a bit of a hit. I know they say, you need to try and be as consistent as you can on social media when running a small business, but sometimes you can’t and I’m passed feeling bad about it. 🌿Looking for ways to have a greener wedding?🌿
Are you thinking you need to be an eco warrior to have a green wedding? Well, you don't! What I would say is it certainly helps to be conscious of the environment and therefore open to greener ideas.
There are so many simple things you can do that will help you to limit your weddings long lasting footprint, here are a few tips just off the bat.
🌿Pick a venue closest to most of your guests
🌿Research and look to work with local or eco-friendly suppliers
🌿Embrace the season you're choosing to get married in (for example, let the flowers that bloom dictate your colours)
🌿What decorations can you hire in and/or get inventive with?
🌿Say no to plastic

🌿Just get engaged?🌿
Me too 💚
I bet you have a million and one ideas already and thinking, "crumbs, how am I going to pull all this together?" or it might be "where do I start first?"
For me its a little easier as it's my job, but don't get me wrong, I've already had my moments of wanting to research everything and having a number of different ideas, plus being asked questions I don't know the answers to yet, haha.
Honestly, it's so so easy to get sucked into a world of planning. If that does happen, don't worry about it, just try to focus your mind back on what your biggest priorites are at the time. My biggest tip right off the bat is to start big to go small. So think about the bigger details first that create the base of your wedding and look at the finer details later. It's like building a house, you can't build your house, nor do the interior until you've got your fondations, the same principles apply.
Now that I'm a bride-to-be myself, I'm as eager to start planning as you are, and it's given me the nudge I needed to tick off one of my sustainable wedding business goals. As a business I mainly support my clients with their overall wedding design or assist in their final months leading up to their wedding. In order to help support you with all the planning you have ahead of you I'm going to create a sustainable wedding planning guide that offers you a resource that provides you a checklist, as well as associated tips to help you make more sustainable/considered choices at the different stages of your wedding planning journey.
So if you've just got engaged and your feeling the pressure and overwhelm already, hopefully this guide will help ease some of that anxiety and enable you to enjoy what lies ahead.

🥂Happy New Year🥂
And what a year it’s been, both professionally and personally. The pandemic closed many doors during 2020 & 2021, but it allowed many windows to be opened.
I worked on multiple events both business and freelancing and I’ve loved every single one. I’m now so so excited for this to continue into 2023.
What really topped off my year though was my best friend asking me to be his wife. So not only do I get to support my clients with their big days, but now we get to plan and design our own ❤️

The heart of my business is all about . I believe there is an alternative for everything, sometimes all it takes is a bit of creative thinking.
All my wedding design proposals that I produce always reflect my client's wants and desires but in the most sustainable way I know how. I'm continuously thinking about the long lasting footprint in every idea proposed, doing my best to direct my clients to take the most sustainable route possible.
I’m also always looking at how I run my business and the decisions I’ve made to ensure the running of my business is green, such as limited print marketing, business cards made from algae, eco web hosting, video consultations/meetings. I’m by no means perfect, but I’m constantly striving to be better and have additional plans for the future as my business continues to grow.

“We worked with Gayle using her Day of coordinator support service. We were absolutely blown away with what a difference her support made to our Wedding day! Gayle was really attentive and enthusiastic about all of our wedding details from the word go and we felt that she completely understood what we wanted to do despite us having a less than conventional wedding!

Such a fantastic, unique and sustainable idea ♻️ I love that each glass is different, such imperfect perfection ❤️
have been collecting and saving glasses for 2 years, creating a lovely feature for their guests to explore and find their thoughtfully selected drinking vessel.
I just love that they’ve something old and given it a new lease of life.
They’ve the amount of glassware and washing required to clean the copious amount of glasses used at a wedding, and they had a really cool bar feature.
Such a winning idea!!!

What a wonderful day and so so special to be a part of it. I absolutely loved working with Beth and James to support them as their .
They truly were my ideal client, they were so friendly, so in love, very and their wedding was the epitome of them.
They chose to get married at the Temple of Apollo and have their reception just slightly down the road ().
I helped them to stitch their schedule together, add those final touches and ensure a smooth delivery of their day, leaving them to relax and enjoy every minute.
I’m so over the moon with how the day went and it was just so wonderful to see how happy James and Beth were all day.

🌿Beyond excited🌿
I’m so excited to be working with this lovely couple, Mia () and Nathan for their wedding next August.
Mia and I hit off straight away when she said, ‘we’re getting married at my families home and we’re not looking to have a conventional wedding’ and instantly my eyes lite up.
When chatting with both of them together, I could see just how in love they are and how creating a wedding that was 100% them was so important.
I’ll be supporting them with , as well as my service.
They specified to me what elements of planning and designing their wedding they were most worried about and I tailored my services to work for them to help wash those worries away 😃

🌿Let your wedding speak you🌿
So excited for Beth and James wedding ()
Beth and I went on a site visit today, we went through theirs and their guests journey on the day, plus get my head fully into everything they’ve got planned.
Their wedding isn’t till next month but already I’m so excited to be part of bringing everything they’ve planned together and be 100% by their side on the day.
Nothing about their day screams formality. Beth said something to me today which I loved, “I thought about everything I didn’t like about weddings and have removed it”. Talk about making the day your own, these guys are 100% doing that 😃

🌿Unconventional🌿
I had a lovely call with a potential client the other day for her wedding next year. She said something to me that really struck home and reminded me of a few of the many reasons I started my business and how I believe myself to be different to other similar suppliers.
She mentioned she'd already spoken with a wedding planner, but they just didn't gel. She felt she was more interested in doing things her own way as opposed to listening and taking any direction. She and her partner also felt her previous work was beautiful but on this occasion a little too conventional for them.
So a few things you should know about me and my business,
Firstly, I lead a slightly unconventional life and all my friends and family will 100% tell you I'm anything but normal. Honestly, I never fit in anywhere when I was younger and now that I'm older I know exactly why that is because I was never meant to. I've created a life for myself that 100% works for me and I'm incredibly happy.
Secondly, I pride myself on getting to know you both and learning what it is you want for your big day. I will use this knowledge as part of my design inspiration and/or tailor my on the day coordination/decoration service to work best for you and understand how I can give you a day purely full of incredible memories.
Thirdly, I recognise how essential it is that we have a connection. It’s so important we get along and enjoy the journey together. After all, you want to look back knowing that you brought together the right team of people to produce the day you both truly wanted and that you’ve enjoyed every moment working with them.
I love the wedding day this couple has planned and I truly hope they decide to work with me. They’re planning a DIY wedding (my favourite) on their families farm and they’re looking for the following, a little bit of extra help to bring their DIY vision to life, someone to be there to dot the i's and cross the t's, as well as provide a helping hand along the way.
You will never find a one-stop shop with me and being conventional doesn’t exist in my world. Sound interesting, give me a buzz and let's talk about how I can help you.

🌿Fly or not to fly?🌿
Not directly a wedding or events subject, but it's certainly an interesting question to those that are eco-minded, both businesses and individuals.
As an eco-friendly business owner I’m really conscious of my own life choices just as much as my businesses. All my life I enjoyed travelling, but it wasn’t until my own environmental awareness grew that I twigged aviations part to play in global warming with roughly 8% of the worlds carbon emissions being down to tourism.
I've recently been away on holiday to Spain and this subject was really on my mind before we took off.
If you’re conscious of your environmental impact does it mean you shouldn’t fly anymore?
Recently I was working at the and it was really interesting to hear about what many aviation companies are doing to make a difference and become carbon neutral by 2050.
- Investment and development of carbon neutral fuel
- No more single use plastic on planes
- Reducing food waste by reducing the cost of food on the last flight of the day and then giving the rest to food banks
- Changing the material that airplanes are made out of to make them lighter so they need to use less fuel to make them fly
- Using local farms for food
It was great to learn this information, as well as learn so many companies have sustainable aviation high on their agenda. I like to think there is light at the end of the tunnel yet.
Despite the current environmental impact of flying, it does have it's many positive. When I was younger I visited many different countries and I'm truly the person I am today because of it. It was during this time that I grew a huge appreciation for this planet, embracing its cultures, meeting the most wonderful people, exploring and seeing the most beautiful places. This is something I wouldn’t change for the world and I now want nothing more than to protect this planet and everything it has to offer.
I believe you have to decide for yourself what you feel comfortable with and what you don’t. Being aware and making positive environmental changes, either via your business or personally, is all a step in the right direction.

I’ll be honest, I never knew eco web hosting existed, so I was straight onto their website to do a bit of research of my own and see what they do differently.

I was sold, so I made a note of when my current hosting provider was due to renew and then made the swap.

🌿What does sustainability mean?🌿
'The ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level'.
Sustainability is of course a word we all know in relation to the environment, however it also plays a part in others areas of life too.
I know I've been quiet on here recently, honestly post-pandemic freelance life has gone bananas, which is incredible and very exciting, however it has meant I've struggled to find my balance and something simply had to give a little.
It's been such a battle in my mind, however I've told myself it's OK, sometimes you just can't do it all no matter how much you may want too. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had to tell themselves this...
My brother said something to me the other day that made me smile and feel so much better. He said, 'Gayle life is all about finding the balance', which gave me a sense of togetherness and appreciation that everyone is trying to find the balance and sometimes you just have to do what works best for you at that time.
