Meir, we are ready are you?
You will see the lamppost motifs and tree is in place and the final decorations and lights will be added next week.
let’s hope for better weather than last year or even the summer jubilee!

If you are attending wrap up warm, maybe bring an umbrella but fingers crossed🤞🏼event starts at 4 through to 7pm
COUNTDOWN 5.55 AT THE STAGE AT THE SIDE OF CORALE with sandon primary academy and a special BIG red button, we don’t need celebritys, it’s all about the children they missed it last year❤️ SING ALONG AND STREET LIGHTS AND TREE SWITCH ON 6pm 🌲 💡
*NO PARKING IS AVAILABLE ON WESTON ROAD OR BEHIND DOUGY MAC*
✅don’t attend if you have COVID symptoms, it is outside but we still be mindful.
✅Stay safe and cautious with traffic
✅Only use the crossings, please don’t take any risks.
✅The event will be marshalled by Meir matters volunteers, Our local police will be in attendance and we have recruited additional security, so any issue looks for a high vis vest.
As you have seen we have some live music planned for tomorrow night.
Local singers donating there time and vocal skills to spread some long overdue xmas cheer 🎶 🎅

Sandon primary academy will switch on the lights at 6pm, with a big red button delivered by Santa 🎅
Everyone doing a little makes a big difference.
This year it’s not just the community & Meir
Matters volunteers who have contributed but our local businesses.
Without significant £££ contributions from these guys we wouldn’t be able to offer what is hopefully going to be a great event on Friday.
Please shop local, give there pages a like and follow them, times are hard and most are trying to survive after a challenging 18 months.

As well as spending some time walking around the event (Xmas shopping maybe) They will be hosting their own party at the stage from 615 to 645pm.
Parents also required to belt out let it go when the time arises 😂🎵 who knows it may actually snow looking at the forecast ⛄️

Plenty of entertainment this year, for kids and adults alike.
Most importantly it’s affordable fun on your doorstep. As well as the craft and Xmas markets most of our local shops will remain open.

The team is on wrapping duty. Santa is due to visit Meir on 26th November for the light turn on.
He has sent his instructions that all selection boxes need to be wrapped before that!
There are more boxes scattered around Santa's helpers in Meir!

It will be all outside this year to ensure we are COVID safe, 2019 was a tight squeeze in the church, so this year we are branching out.

It’s great that Lila connect approached Stoke On Trent council proactively
They initially wanted to fund a park area at the bottom of brookwood drive but health and safety would not allow that, instead the local matters team suggested they make a donation to the tree🌲
This year we will therefor be putting the street lamp motifs in place🎅 The decorations we made last year are also being touched up and reglittered thankyou Karl Brown🙏🏻❤️
Let’s get festive and sort this years event out that we missed last year👌🏼

We are truly blessed to have people working really hard FOR FREE, donating there time FOR FREE, donating there skills FOR FREE
Believe it or not these things would usually be planned at least 6 months in advance, if it wasn’t for these people there would be nothing this year.
The event starts at 5pm and the big switch on will be 7PM🎄🤞🏻
Less than 48 hours to go!!!
Food will be available throughout the evening, so parents can have a night off cooking😬 how thoughtful are we😂
North Staffs Stormtroopers will be there👍🏼
We will also be creating a Christmas tree in memory of loved ones no longer with us, dedicate a decoration💕 Thankyou to in making that possible.

Massive Thankyou to Eden Emporium and house for your generous donation, we’ve also been supported by Shukers Farm Shop who have helped with supplying the food for the daytime meal and evening - Thankyou Craig👍🏼 - if you haven’t paid either of those businesses a visit make sure you do as you won’t be disappointed 😍
The rough cost of this years xmas tree and lights is in the region of £7500
Our original quote from the council was £4597 just for the tree and lights
Hopefully you can see the effort made in sourcing alternative suppliers and negotiationing the best possible deal😂
Without businesses contributing we would of had nothing to negotiate with,
