Huge thank you to SASK Optics for their £1000 donation to our Community Impact Winners, EkoJoe.💚

The funds will be used to acquire rabbit proof fencing for the site, which is progressing tremendously. With the backing from Blaby District Council this project is now full steam ahead.

We are super excited to see what fresh produce the team of volunteers will be growing for themselves and the community this Spring/ Summer.

Exciting times for our Community Impact Winners, Butterfly Beacons!

Tomorrow, they will be hosting a soft launch and introducing Rosa, the wonderful bus that will be travelling around communities with crafty coffee and empowering creative sessions.

The day will include stalls, children's entertainment, raffles, prizes and collaborations with other groups.

If you are around the area, stop by to say hi or share some words of encouragement for this wonderful team.

Another great start to the week.

Meeting with Community Impact Winners, Ekojoe to scope project objectives and outputs.

Sustainability and food security was a hot topic of conversion and we are looking forward to supporting this project that will be very valuable for Blaby District initially and Nationwide eventually.

Again, a project that is in its early days and a great opportunity to get involved from the ground up

On Friday November 18th we participated in the Leicester Giving Day.

A day where people came together to help and support each other. Businesses helping the charities and charities helping the people.

We were based at Ole Moses’ Cabin with the fantastic Butterfly Beacons, A Different Human Design, COS and Helping hands. All offering free help and support through engaging and thought-provoking fun activities.

I have offered 2 x free counselling sessions for the day as we know mental health is one of the biggest challenges we are facing as a community. So, if you know somebody that could do with a chat, please do point them in this direction. We are here to help.

In support of Leicester Giving Day on Friday 18 November we revisited the Adhar Project to complete additional works following the Leicestershire Cares team challenge, which included installing a new pin board, TV bracket, hot desk and chair for service users to use during their time at the centre.

We have received some fantastic feedback from the centre on the works completed:

“Louise and her team were fantastic on this Team Challenge! They did an excellent job repainting the rooms and outer walls of the Adhar Project site, and the entire building really benefits from the new splashes of colour.

I know everyone at the centre really appreciates all the hard work that the Stepnell team did, and that their hard work has made a big difference. Thank you so much to Louise and everyone at Stepnell!”

Announcing project number 1 of the Community Impact Programme - Butterfly Beacons.

Butterfly Beacons will be building community circles, bringing together people to learn, share experiences and empower each other. We will be working with Emma Hall to support with bidding and funding applications, building corporate partnership appeal and they will be entered into the City Mayors Crowdfunding page.

We are really excited to support Emma and the Butterfly Beacons team to bring this project (and bus) to life!

The day has begun. Starting at sandicliffe ford to pick up our beautiful, branded electric van that will be used to collect surplus foods from food retailers and restaurants and delivered to food banks across Leicester and Leicestershire.

On our way now to fosse park to get the ball rolling.

It was great to meet Matt Piper and the team at The FSD Academy on Friday. They have made the shortlist for the Community Impact Programme, and we met up with them for a short interview to be shown at the Giving Gala before if they are announced as one of the winners.

If they are successful, we will be working with the team next year to expand the reach of their academy to enable more young adults from deprived areas to engage with football.

On the 18th November, Old Moses will be transformed into a Creative Hub for Change and will host the COS Collective. A variety of fun, educational and activities that warm the soul will be on offer along with a free hot meal for those who pass by. 😊

A different human design will be presenting an interactive and nostalgic exhibition created to showcase a neurodivergent perspective. Butterfly Beacons invites you to get creative and find out more about their community circles. Aunt Sal's offers some amazing grub, meet counsellor Niki Randall and hear all about COS' exciting mission to restore Brand Leicester.

How far away are you from homelessness?

Not a nice thought to think about but the reality is, the average person is 3 pay checks away from being homeless. We already know that millions of people are going to be impacted by the rapid rise in cost of living. Question is, how many of those people will keep their head above water and how many will fall into struggles that could lead to being homeless.

Mental health is one of the biggest factors for work related sick and an increasing challenge within our communities.

SanaMente te and Bridge (East Midlands) are coming together in our Mental Health & Wellbeing hub in the Highcross to offer stress busting workshops, 121 chats will skilled professionals and content that will show how poor mental health is an accelerator to becoming vulnerable to homelessness. You will also see the amazing work that The Bridge (East Midlands) do for the people going through tough times.

Partnerships done right with SanaMente and The Bridge (East Midlands).

Stop by the Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub on the 18th and take part in the or talk to the highly skilled team.

The concept "We are all in the same storm, but not in the same boats" aims to resonate with people showing the impact your mental health has on the road to homelessness.

This collaboration takes the knowledge and experience each organisation and uses it to create a powerful message that will not only show people how easy it can be for us to be homeless but how important it is that we look after our mental health.

We love it, it's exactly what the Leicester Giving Day is about. Collaborations that come together for the greater good.

Often the journey in which we need to find the balance between different areas of our lives otherwise we may be off track. We here at SanaMente and The Bridge - East Midlands find that this is what happens to our clients when they find themselves spiralling.

So on Leicester Giving Day both of our teams will be in the Health & Wellbeing Hub in the Highcross Leicester raising awareness about the support available for poor mental health and/or homelessness.

Our display will be based around the and our 10 Keys of Happiness Strive framework, with input from The Bridge from their recent impact report. We are delighted to partner with Ole Moses’ Cabin to host a hub that will have a mixture of fin engaging activities, crafts that will help the home, free 121 mental health support, information and activities on ADHD and a free meal cooked by Aunt Sals Do Something For Someone Else ❤️.

This is most diverse, educational, fun and meaningful hub we have. Expect fun engaging activities, creative stalls and friendly faces and money help. Not to mention great food!
