Due to an outside booking, we are unable to cater for you this Friday 23.08.24 at The Hare & Hounds. There will be no food available! The pub will be open and serving drinks as usual. We will be back as normal on Saturday and after all the hot weather leaving us for another year and becoming somewhat more autumnal, we will be resuming our Sunday roasts. We look forward to seeing you.

This weekend is looking to be another hot one and we have lots going on at The Hare and Hounds, Leavenheath so we are switching from inside to outside.
Friday we will be cooking from the BBQ in the garden with Burgers, Hotdogs, pulled pork & chicken &lamb on the rotisserie so that we can all see the Colchester Morris .
Saturday is music night which means it’s Pizza night served from 6-9pm eat in or take away!!
Sunday we will be forgoing the traditional Sunday roast and once again cooking from the BBQ with flatiron steaks, minted lamb, marinaded chicken, lots of fresh salads and more, all served to you in the garden under a parasol or in the restaurant in the shade.
So stay out of the kitchen and let us take the heat for you!

Last week it was my great pleasure to cater at the wedding of the new Mr & Mrs Tom & Emily Hadley. A beautiful event in an equally beautiful location set off with Tipi from . They had asked for a selection of their favourite dishes. The Beef fillet was from Bill Hadley’s own stock of cows prepared by . The sun was shining & the rain stayed away. Every Friday is fish 🐟 Friday with a selection of fish from a local day boat.
Steak 🥩 night the first Saturday of the month.
11th May is Burger night with all home made burgers.
18th May is Tapas & paella.
25th May is live music & Pizza night.
Don’t forget every Sunday is roast day & as the weather warms up we are putting on a few other traditional dishes for when the garden is in use.

Another fantastic fish delivery from Colchester Fresh Fish Ltd with day boat Dover Slip Soles caught on their boat Nicola Anne CK7. I love it locally caught & delivered here fresh as a daisy.
My question is,
I’m cooking them whole.
Should I leave the head on or remove it?

Sausage rolls are selling fast from the pub. Today we have pork & red onion, pork & apple, cheese & spring onion ( vegetarian ) & ducks egg scotch eggs. All freshly made and baked this morning ready for opening.
