Abyssal Festival - Southampton is back! We are extremely proud to announce our first four bands.

Elephant Tree are one of the UK's top-tier stoner rock bands. They've carved out a reputation for incredible live performances, as evidenced by their incredible success both sides of the Atlantic.

Gévaudan are hot off releasing their new album Umbra in October 2023, a single 43 minute track that released to critical acclaim. Veterans of Desertfest also, you know this set is going to be something special!

Halveksia, hailing from Brighton bring the big, fat nasty doom riffs that are sure to test the structrual integrity of the venue's beautiful stained glass windows!

Dungeön serve us oozing, sludgy slabs of despair coated in a thick layer of fuzz. Worship the riff.

We still have six more bands to announce so keep 'em peeled!

The bow to neatly wrap this all up? Everything, all ten bands in the stunning venue for £17 in adv/£20 otd. This has to be a no-brainer! Ticket and Facebook event links in comments!

As those of you who were at our winter event Abysmal Festival last year may remember, The Firehouse was closed on New Year's Day this year. We have been working away to find a new venue since, and we are delighted to announce that Abyssal Festival - Southampton 2024 is happening!

Our new venue is the absolutely breathtaking Papillon. Built in 1845, the venue is absolutely stunning, inside and out. Situated minutes' walk from Southampton Central Station, and with a capacity twice the size of the Firehouse, we're looking forward to our biggest event yet.

We can also announce the date! Due to a number of other festivals popping up over the summer, we've moved to 14th September this year.

Finally, our first few bands will be annnounced in the coming week or so. Keep your eyes peeled and see you in a few months!

Our headliner this year are the doyens of UK post-sludge OHHMS.

Their new album ROT is out now via Church Road Records.

Like Abyssal, OHHMS are from the coast (Margate); their shoreside misery will make for a cracking finale.

I’m delighted to announce that we’ll be relaunching the Heavy Sessions at the FIREHOUSE on the 29th of August (that’s the Sunday of the upcoming bank holiday weekend).

With a new and expanded house band, better backline with full monitoring, and trialing the facility to record and film your sets, we’re looking forward to welcoming bands and individual performers alike to come and play with our amazing resident musicians, network with other fans of heavy music and, most importantly, drink with us. 🍻

We’re launching this event in partnership with University of Southampton Rocksoc and Sinking Ship Promotions.

Managed to bag myself this awesome Lowen long sleeve, super happy with it.

Lowen were meant to play Abyssal this year but never fear, they'll be joining us next June for Abyssal 2021.
