AUTUMN WEDDING SEASON 🍃🍁🍂

The days are shorter, the temperatures are lower, and the rain is more reliable…but there are also many reasons to love this time of year. I love the changing leaves, getting cosy under a soft blanket, lighting pumpkin candles, and most of all…preparing gorgeous ceremonies for couples that love the changing seasons 🍁.

From Halloween themes to November nuptials and even to the winter solstice, there are some really wonderful ways to celebrate 🧡.

To those of you getting ready for your autumn weddings…get cosy, make a hot toddy, and relax in the knowledge that you won’t have to worry about the weather (you will be indoors), that your guests won’t be on their summer holidays or double booked for other weddings, and that everyone (guests and suppliers) will be grateful for a cheery event as winter draws nearer 🍁.

Happy planning and I’ll see you soon 🧡🍁🍂

PHOTOS: Two years ago I took a solo bucket list trip of America, visiting all the places I’d never been despite living there for almost 30 years. Top of the list was New England to see the changing leaves in the “Fall”. It did not disappoint!! 🍁🍁🍁

A great morning of networking with the Corporate Ladies Club hosted by Sage House by Dementia Support and held at the beautiful The Goodwood Hotel. Thank you all for the time and inspiration 🧡. We have a truly wonderful network of corporate women in our city 💛.

And no, the photo has nothing to do with the meeting, but it seemed strange to post without a shameless promotional photo 🤩!

CELEBRANT AVAILABLE FOR WEDDINGS, FUNERALS, AND YMCA LESSONS 🍒🍒🍒

It’s always a great day out volunteering with the Dickie Bows & Petticoats Club in Chichester. What could be more fun than cabaret acts, afternoon tea, bingo with Dawn, and dancing in the daytime…all whilst getting local sassy seniors out for the afternoon.

If you know someone who loves a good time but might need a little encouragement to get out, send me a message or check out for more details. If they’re lucky, I might show them how to Y.M.C.A. 😂! Hopefully that’s got you singing along 🤩!

We'll be open from 11am until 3pm to showcase what we can offer for your wedding day. Admission is free, but we ask that you book your space online in advance: https://buff.ly/4dZlYNd

I LOVE A NAMING CEREMONY! ☀️💛 AND UNFLAPPABLE IS MY FAVOURITE WORD USED IN A REVIEW!!

I was thrilled to receive this lovely review of a baby naming ceremony at West Wittering Beach. It proves that ceremonies don’t have to be complicated, expensive, or stressful. This gorgeous family chose to celebrate their young son with friends and family who flew in from all over the world for a fun reunion at the beach.

They chose a perfect spot, set up a wind breaker, brought folding chairs and blankets, had a table of hot drinks, pastries and bubbles, and had me as the celebrant to tell their family story. It was followed by friends (aka Oddparents) sharing commitments, reading poems, and generally making a fuss of the bouncing baby boy!

A few went swimming while others built sand castles and they all followed to a local pub for lunch. It was a perfect and wonderfully executed celebration. ☀️💛🏖️

FAREWELLS BY MELANIE

This afternoon has been about updating the Funerals, Farewells, & Celebration of Life section of my website and I won’t lie, my head hurts. I’m still working on it, but it led me to put together a few comments I’ve had in emails after services.

Thank you to those families who have taken the time to share their experiences and fill my heart with gratitude and love.

I’ll be glad to be back to services (instead of IT) over the weekend ♥️💛🧡.

HANDFASTING WITH A NOD TO THE GROOM’S VIKING CONNECTION
Mary and Craig said they wanted a fun ceremony and their guests made sure it was!

As well as rings, vows, a great love story, a bit of heckling, and lots of laughter, they also chose to have a handfasting ritual. They chose a braided cord made of wool, the traditional Viking material, and selected three colours:

Black - for Strength and Wisdom
Grey - for Neutrality and Balance
Brown - for Grounding and Home

The beauty of handfasting is the freedom to combine tradition with hand selected components that symbolise a union. I love it ♥️!

And if you zoom into the photo, you’ll also get a glimpse of their amazing tattoos. Such a great photo by

Thank you to Mary and Craig for sharing a sneak peak of the photos from Saturday’s ceremony . There are plenty more great photos, so this is just a teaser 😊.

FIREWALKING, ARROW BREAKING, & DANCING WITH STRANGERS
A last minute decision to go to a Viking Festival with my son turned out to be a day full of surprises and the friendliest of people. We booked into a fire walking experience thinking it would be a quick and challenging activity, but it turned out to be a 3 1/2 ceremony and journey with 60 other people.

As a group, we built a fire, danced with wild abandon, laughed like children, broke arrows on our necks, and walked over hot coals. This was not my natural habitat! But it was wonderful, hysterical, heart-warming, and an all-together fabulous day in the sunshine with my special boy 😎🔥♥️

Oh, and we watched a Viking-style wedding with handfasting and saw a couple get engaged during the fire walking ceremony…so it was also a busman’s holiday 🥰
