A massive thank you to everyone involved in the Chippenham Uniform Exchange!

There are several collection bins around including one at Melksham Community Campus.

This is a great way of keeping useable clothes in circulation for longer, keeping them out of landfill!

There are so many unsung heroes in our community that today I want to say thank you to all of those that help, in whatever way, at the Melksham Community Larder.

Whenever I go past or pop in to the Larder, the volunteers are always so welcoming. They work hard to save food from going to landfill and redirect it to people’s plates!

So thank you for all the hours you put in and for making a real difference not only to the people of Melksham but also for the huge volume of food that you save from going to waste!

Inspiration is something I search for every day.

I find it in many places and situations but mainly from what I see and hear.

I don’t know why but I’ve never thought of myself as being inspirational. I guess I don’t want to be inspirational for just being me but I do want what I do to be inspirational. I want others to see my creations and be inspired to create something similar for themselves.

But what if others don’t believe they have the skill sets needed to create similar projects yet? Or what if they don’t have the resources, or the capacity to do them?

With this in mind I’m holding my second wreath making workshop! Spaces are limited so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. It’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill, meet new people or just work quietly by yourself. Have a hot drink and some festive nibbles and walk away with your very own star wreath made from waste yarn, saving it from going to landfill!

We only use pre-used outer packaging for our parcels.

Our larger orders are sent in pre-used cardboard boxes and our smaller orders are sent in homemade paper envelopes that are made from old books!

We’re looking to replace our tissue paper inner packaging so that it’s pre-used too! So if you’re a local business with clean pre-used tissue paper that you normally put out for recycling then please contact us!

Made from yarn that was otherwise going to waste.

This would make a great Christmas decoration or gift for a special little person to decorate their room!

This morning I just want to say a massive thank you to all the organisations and individuals who work their socks off to make our planet that bit better.

Knowing that there are so many like minded people out there inspires me to do more, to think bigger and to sum up the energy to keep on going, to keep making a difference.

So thank you. Thank you to all those who have gone before us, walk with us now and will follow on after us. Thank you!

All our cards are made from waste materials that would otherwise have gone to landfill, been incinerated or sent overseas to become someone else’s waste problem!

‘Buy Nothing New’ November is upon us!

Are you taking part? It’s so easy! Just don’t buy anything new during this month!

No, that doesn’t include food or medicines! Just stuff. You know, like all the new things we see and think would look so great on us or in our homes, or that our kids or great aunt would love. Or the new things that are such a bargain that we simply have to buy it now!

Charity shops are a great alternative to buying new and so are all the ‘preloved’ apps. But there are some things that are more difficult to find. Things like party decorations!

Here at Eco Bunting all of our decorations are made from fabrics that would otherwise have gone to landfill, been incinerated or been shipped overseas to become someone else’s problem. That means that all of our products are kinder to the environment than buying new! They are all reusable and because we have a closed loop system, you can send your items back to us to be fixed or altered too!

Over the past few weeks I’ve been thinking about how my attitude towards fabric waste has changed over the years. I’ve been wondering why it’s changed and the answer I’ve come up with is that my awareness and education around the subject has deepened.

So going with this theory, I’m going to continue to investigate, uncover and explore all that I can about fabric waste here in the U.K. And the best bit? I’m going to share what I find out with you!

So if you know any great information about fabric waste please share it with me and with others because you only know what you know!
