July was quite the month! And August is looking just as eventful and exciting!!

Tomorrow is our first August wedding and first Mindenwood wedding at .at.stchads. It’s going to be so gorgeously pretty!

Milestones and meaning 🤍

Your first anniversary ~ Beth and Jack, I can’t believe it was a year ago already, how time flies!

I love wedding days when your flowers are delivered and set up but equally, anniversary days are special too as we get to revisit the beauty of your day again.

Paper is the traditional gift ~ a blank page to write your future together; endless possibilities; communication and for documenting memories. And the modern gift is clocks, to symbolise the passing of time and the preciousness of shared moments.

Whatever you do today, I hope it’s filled with love, laughter and a whole lot of Buzz 🐾🤍

It’s exactly what Jess and Steven did during their incredible ceremony in the walled garden at . And Jess was so right, the sun came out at the right times!

Plus, it’s considered to be good luck for a number of reasons, including ‘tying the knot’, it’s so much harder to untie a wet knot 🤍

What have 50 weddings and events at taught us?

If you’re planning or considering a Middleton Lodge wedding, read on.

We work at many venues but in the last two and a half years, Mindenwood has worked on around 50 of the most beautiful weddings and events across the Middleton Lodge Estate, thanks to Mindenwood weddings, viewing days and freelancing.

So what have we learned and why is this important for our couples?

We know:

• the way light shifts through the Fig House
• perfect placements for florals in The Fig House, Main House and Marquee
• the best ways to invest in florals and styling
• where not to over-style
• to let the spaces breathe
• to design in harmony, not in competition
• how the gardens and grounds look and feel each season
• timings to set up and clear down in one space or across the Estate
• how to work seamlessly with your Co-ordinator and the Events team.

Knowing this venue by heart gives us creative freedom, and we can design beautifully and intuitively without overthinking.

A masterclass in floral design and tablescaping.

When one stunning floral bowl simply isn’t enough, there’s only one thing to do … create many of course. But don’t stop there, add a stunning floral cloud and inspired tablescape delights are bound to follow.

These dreamy bowls and hanging installation were created on Day 2 of the incredible workshop hosted by in The Cotswolds.

Three days of inspiration on technique, colour pairing, fine art floristry and floristry collaboration.

Every floral story we tell is built on listening, trust, and detail. From every little tweak across the year, to the final stem on the day, it’s about more than flowers. This was about holding space, guiding with care, and translating vision into something real.

Hello, thought it was time to show up and share a few things about me.

Starting with …

Being visible ~ while this can be rare for me to do, it’s for no reason other than awkwardness in front of a camera.

Favourite flowers ~ honestly, most as long as they’re fresh and natural. And the varieties I’m really not so keen on, they won’t feature on your mood board or in designs.

Design inspiration ~ Ralph Lauren for style and campaigns. Timeless, calm, there’s longevity and quiet luxury. No need to shock or follow fleeting trends.

The Arts ~ if I ‘feel’ it, I like it; I don’t necessarily need to understand it. I worked at Arts Council England for 8 years (before teaching) and experienced art in all its wonderfully creative forms.

Food and drink ~ always potatoes (but not raw) and chai latte (hot or iced). I stopped eating meat about 10 years ago, have never been a coffee drinker, and always a definite no to marzipan and raw celery.

Languages ~ I have a BA Hons in French and German, with a little post degree Spanish. Handy for a destination wedding 🌿

Colour ~ love colour but my eyes and brain appreciate cooler, softer hues at home and flowers.

Old Hollywood romance ~ style, pure escapism, aspiration, and feel good vibes, yes please.

Books ~ a fabulous ‘coffee table’ book on flowers, interiors or fashion design makes me happy.

City, beach or countryside ~ now it’s city breaks, quieter countryside living and beaches out of school holidays 🌿

For the love of flowers ...

Quality classic, natural flowers arranged thoughtfully in a relaxed style for you. Just you.

Hand tied arrangements (minimum spend £25) and posy ‘hugs’ in a jar (from £15) currently available Wednesday to Saturday. Contactless delivery is available to a number of Durham postcodes (after 5pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday) - contact for availability and possible additional cost.

Flowers and foliage are a mix of imported and local, seasonally sourced stems. They’re presented in an eco-friendly way using paper, card and glass that can be recycled; even the flower food packet is compostable. The aim is to not use cellophane but there are times when stems will be ‘aqua packed’.

How it all began ... I’ve always appreciated flowers, both cultivated and wild, as a treat for the senses (colours, shapes, textures and scents) as well as how they can make you feel. After enrolling on a floristry course as a creative escape, I realised that I wanted to do more than that, and so Mindenwood Floral Design began. Why Mindenwood? It’s the pedigree family name of our much loved dogs.
