My name is Camilla and I am the owner of The Teepover Club, thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
Our journey began in April 2019, just before my little girl’s first birthday. I wanted to buy a teepee to create a little reading nook for her to enjoy as she grew up.
I have always liked to “Shop Local” where I can so during an extensive search online, I came across a beautiful company in Oxford who offered teepee sleepovers. This is the first I had heard of the concept and I loved it. I immediately became drawn into their page and couldn’t help but picture myself styling and creating magical sleepovers too.
A teepee sleepover is something I could only have dreamed of when I was a little girl. I used to love having my friends to stay, I remember meticulously planning our “midnight feast” with my Mum (hence the creation of our Midnight Feast crate), which inevitably got demolished by approximately 8pm and then enjoyed staying up late gossiping and watching movies with my closest friends. A teepee sleepover would have been the absolute icing on the cake at this point – I can’t think of anything I would have enjoyed more!
With a background in interior design coupled with experience in the party hire business, I felt I had the experience. It was time to make the dream a reality.
After months of meticulously researching and planning how I was going to create this dream business, I finally let my passion override the feelings of nerves and self-doubt and in August 2019 I took the plunge and ordered my first six teepees.
That was it, I was officially off and by mid October 2019 my teepees had arrived, I had purchased the equipment for my first three themes (what fun that was!) and The Teepover Club was born. I held my first party on 9 November and from there the magic grew, and faster than I ever could have imagined.
I would not have got this far however without the help and endless support from my family – The Teepover Club really is the definition of a family run business and I am forever grateful to my parents and fiancé Rich.
When asked what I love most about this business, I can honestly say that there is nothing I love more than seeing the excitement of the party children (and parents) when they first see their sleepovers set up. One of my favourite days was the one we made three different Mums cry happy tears when they saw their daughters’ dream parties set up, I barely slept that night, I was over the moon!
Six months into our journey, the Covid-19 pandemic struck. I have always been a planner and have a detailed business plan with contingencies in place however I never expected this to happen, but did anyone? I was completely heartbroken to cancel all the parties I had worked so hard to book in. Heartbroken for me, but that was nothing compared to the heartbreak I felt for the children whose birthdays had been cancelled or postponed.
As I write this, the lockdown is still in place, but I am making the most of this extra time I have to work on our themes, our processes and…what’s coming next! I cannot wait to get back to doing what I love best and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all in healthier and happier times.
