Hugely proud to have been part of this amazing event The Oldham Athletic Community Trust Oldham Athletic and to compete for the APU Trophy 🏆

Huge thanks to our title sponsor, the amazing RC Solutions Pitch Care for their support and participation in the event.

20 x Teams from and surrounding areas were invited to compete for the APU Trophy.. the competitors collectively raised over £485 for the charity, but a brilliant effort by The Oldham Humpty Dumpties who raised over £245 by themselves! An amazing effort!!

Massive well done to all participants, but there could only be one winner.. a huge congratulations to our deserving winners in 20_OGLE who took home the APU Trophy in style with a convincing final win 🏆

WE'RE BACK!!! Back with our friends at Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre helping them celebrate THIS SATURDAY 24th Of February 2024 from 1pm -5pm!!

Save the dates as ILLUMINATE, the annual celebration of light, returns for 2024.

The event opens on Saturday 24 February from 6pm, with the magical Illuminate Parade from Oldham Civic Centre to the Old Town Hall.

Watch in awe and witness the streets come alive with light, sound and illuminated performances.

The magical event continues into the night with a range of awe-inspiring light art installations and performances across the town centre for you to discover.

The fun continues on Sunday 25 February for ‘By the Light of the Moon’ an exciting free family event that celebrates the magical world of Moths at Northern Roots, located just near Alexandra Park.

Meet the moonlight pollinators in our magical forest, help the moths carry out their nocturnal work and join the Moonlight Moth Ball!

Our Story

Esports Events UK have been established since June 2018, originally SLBC Events LTD. but rebranded in September 2019. The story of our business begins long before this, in the front room of the founder, Bernie Coughlin,’s home... many years ago.

Bernie and his mates were massive fans of the earlier titles of the EA FIFA series, and regularly got together to compete against each other on a 1 on 1 basis, when someone suggested “We should have a tournament! and a trophy!”. Bernie made this happen, got a trophy made and the first of the FIFA Tournaments took place between 8 friends.

Those 8 friends soon became 10, then 12, until the front room of Bernie’s modest, humble home was no longer big enough to cater for the number of players... nor the mess they left behind! He then had a conversation with a local bar “Venue” in Colne Lancashire, and held their first competition on neutral ground, using their large projector screen! For BIG SCREEN FIFA!

The bar loved it... not only were the players drinking whilst competing for the FIFA Champion’s Trophy, their punters were stopping to watch the games unfold and were enjoying the experience as much as the players! Cheering their goals, celebrating their wins and consoling their losses!

A business was born...

Bernie then teamed up with Stephen Littler, another fan of the game to set up and run becoming Co-Directors of SLBC Events LTD, the business specialised in running EA Licensed FIFA Tournaments, making sure the events fell within the EA Community Guidelines and therefore licensed by the game developer. Facilitating competitions for their customers and making sure that they were doing so in the correct manner and not infringing the game’s intellectual property.

Steve and Bernie agreed to part ways in 2019, and Bernie continued the business as the sole Director re branding the business to Esports Events UK, a trading style of Esports Events (NW) LTD. The business has grown from strength to strength, dealing with customers like Rochdale AFC, Hyde United, Chorley FC and Barnsley FC. And now more recently, diversifying to offer Retro Arcade and VR Experiences!

The plan for the business is to continue the trajectory of growth, working with more bars, grass roots football clubs and charities to further refine the proposition. We also have plans to further diversify into other sports, such as Ice Hockey and Basketball.
