One thing about us is that we want to impress EVERYONE.

Every single person who eats our food we want them to go home and dream about it for the rest of their lives, and that means we have to bring our A-game to every single dish.

We have worked hard on developing our vegan menu offerings to make sure that they are as packed full of flavour and fun as everything we serve, and we’re proud to have a range of plant-based options on every single menu.

This jackfruit slider is one of our favourites, slow-cooked jackfruit in a spicy fragrant red curry marinade, soft and sumptious sweet potato, crispy onions, and a bright and zingy mango mayo.

Can we talk about how off the charts ooey gooey insanely delicious our mac & cheese is? Actually it doesn't matter if you say no, we're talking about it anyway.

Chef's special Mac & Cheese is made with a creamy béchamel base, a sizeable dollop of a good spicy English mustard, mozarella for maximum stringiness as well as Welsh Black Bomber for maximum tangy taste, and a few other little delights that chef declined to reveal 🤫

Brat summer may be almost over, but it’s had us thinking about how this whooooole thing got started. Nearly a decade ago now our intrepid leader Will and his best friend had their own brat(wurst) summer when they bought a food truck and set out on a mission to bring incredible and mind-blowing hotdogs to the UK.

About a million food festivals, a new truck and a world of experience later and here we are, finishing up another wedding season with sore feet and great memories. Here’s to ten more years!

You could never accuse us here at Blame Frank of being a one-trick pony, oh no no no! We’re a pony with a whole case full of tricks, a dressage pony with a background in haulage, we’re competing in every pony event at the olympics and we’re taking home all the golds!

When you are serving people food, arguably the most important decision you have to make is where to source your ingredients from. We are so fortunate to have found and worked with some incredible local suppliers, who frequently blow us away with quality and service.

See how we pile the mushrooms high up on the crostini? Very mindful. We don’t flatten the tops of our mushroom piles, we’re very cutesy with it, very demure.

The way we serve the canapés is the way we would want them to be served to us. Very mindful, very demure.

A successful event is about keeping your guests happy, and the trick to that is generally quite simple, keep them well fed!

Let’s talk about batch cocktails. If your venue is more farmer’s field than country house hotel, there’s a chance that you will be looking for ways to offer your guests a good variety of drinks without overstocking on everything or absolutely breaking the bank.

A great way to raise the game is with a specialty batch cocktail, made up and served from big pitchers or a cute glass barrel, it’s the perfect solution for the ‘beer and wine and what else?’ conundrum, and you get fancy drinks all night without keeping the bar staff out past their bedtime.

No doubt about it, a barbecue is the ultimate summer festive food. But nothing makes you feel less festive than standing in line with your plate as you collect a single sausage and a floury bun, not knowing how much potato salad is too much potato salad and wondering whether the drumsticks and beef burgers are an ‘and’ or an ‘or’ sort of situation.

When we do barbecue, we bring everything to the table, sharing boards piled high, bowls heaped with sides, and guests can divide it all amongst themselves.

Imagine the best picnic you ever had as a youngster, and then imagine a world class chef made it instead of your mum. (Unless your mum is a world-class chef, in which case, this post doesn’t apply to you). You’ve just given yourself a glimpse into the glory that is our British sharing starter board. You can plump for a pork and black pudding scotch egg, or marmite and Black Bomber cheese rarebits, there’s warm sausage rolls in flaky buttery pastry, and a side of Branston pickle with your pork pies.

If you've ever met a chef you know they love to ask questions. What's that? Where does it come from? How are you cooking it? Can I taste?

Our head chef Will spent ten years travelling the globe and bothering other chefs with his barrage of questions everywhere he went. As a result he has returned to the UK with suitcases full of knowledge, understanding, and passion for foods the majority of us here at home have never even heard of. And he puts it to use! All of our menus are built around this knowledge and experience, and packed full of dishes and flavours you'd more commonly find in a street market in East Asia or Central America than a classic British summer wedding.

If you are looking for an alternative for your next corporate luncheon, take a look at our chef’s bowls menu. Individually portioned, packed full of flavour and nutrition, and light enough that you won’t spend your afternoon meetings fighting off the food sleepies.

Pictured:

Homemade falafel served with cous-cous, sweet chilli hummus, roasted pumpkin, spiced cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, pickled red onion and a tzatziki dressing.

Miso salmon served with tri-coloured quinoa, cucumber, carrot, pickled enoki mushrooms, purple cabbage, soy and sesame wakame, and a wasabi mayo.

Roasted pulled chicken served with conchiglie pasta shells, feta, chargrilled zucchini, sundried tomato, kalamata olives, rocket, and a roasted tomato and basil vinaigrette.

One thing we are always looking to push the envelope on is providing a variety of options for those that don't eat meat.

Meat alternatives for popular dishes have come a long way even in just the last five years, and we try to always be moving away from the ingredients that make a seasoned vegetarian sigh in the key of 'here we go again'.

One of our newer canapé provisions is the Banana Blossom Croquette. Banana blossom has long been a staple of east Asian and Indian cooking, and exactly as you might imagine, is the heart of the flower that forms at the end of a bunch of bananas!

Flaky in texture and light and delicate in flavour, it's an excellent alternative to use in dishes that might normally feature fish. We cook it up into an unctious and boldy spiced red curry and then make it into gorgeous golden croquettes, served with a zingy and fresh mango mayo. Can't go wrong!

Five summers ago we were catering our first weddings, operating out of a tiny kitchen in South London and hiring a barbecue for each event.

In the time since then we have relocated to our new permanent home in Leighton Buzzard, built a prep kitchen, a tasting room, and a Victorian dining room, catered for weddings, birthdays, corporate lunches, gender reveal parties, and anniversary parties.

We’ve grown a team we are thrilled to work with, built relationships with clients we hope to be working with for years to come, and yes, have bought a barbecue grill of our very own.

It’s a hell of a view looking back. Here’s to the next five years! 🥂

So often we hear from other catering companies that the biggest challenge they face is finding staff, our industry is fast moving and often transient, with people taking odd jobs to keep them afloat while they pursue their other passions.

We are ever thankful, therefore, that we have managed to secure an incredible team of hard-working, consistent, and reliable service staff who are always present in each situation, and who can always be depended upon to go the extra mile to make our clients and their guests happy.

It is possible we are the luckiest little catering company in all of England.
