✨ As the Clock Strikes Midnight... ✨

New Year’s Eve can feel heavy when someone we love isn’t here to step into the next chapter of life with us. While the world celebrates, the absence of our loved ones laughter, their hug, or simply their presence can feel even more intense.

But in this quiet space of remembrance, there’s also a gentle truth: they are still with us. In the way their love remains and continues to guide us, the light they brought into our lives and all the memories they’ve gifted us.

As a Funeral Celebrant, it’s both a privilege and an honour to support families during such significant and deeply personal moments. I’m truly grateful to all those who have placed their trust in me to help celebrate the lives of their loved ones and to create a space where cherished memories and special moments can be shared and treasured.

So, as the clock strikes midnight, let’s carry them forward with us—not just in our grief, but in the love that will always remain.

Wishing you peace, courage, and gentle moments of reflection as we welcome the new year. 💛

This Christmas, many of us will notice an empty chair at the table—a space that once belonged to someone
who brought light and joy to our lives.

That chair reminds us of their laughter, their stories, their presence. It’s a bittersweet symbol, one that can make our hearts ache with loss, but it’s also a testament to the love that remains. Because while their seat at the table may be empty, our hearts are still full of the memories they left behind—the way they made us smile, the traditions they cherished, the joy they brought into our lives.

Perhaps we can fill that space in some way—a toast in their honour, a story shared at the table, or a quiet moment to reflect on all they meant to us. Let us honour that empty chair not just with sorrow, but with gratitude—for the gift of having loved them and been loved by them. Love doesn’t leave when someone we care for is gone. It transforms, but it endures, guiding us through the seasons of life.

I am thinking of everyone who has an empty chair at their table this Christmas with much love 🎄🙏🏼🎄

It was an absolute privilege and an honour to speak at Pearce Funeral Services “Time To Remember” service this evening held at St Margaret’s Church, Stratton St Margaret. It was a truly beautiful service of remembrance & love where we spent time thinking about those who have left this world and lit a candle in their memory.

As an experienced independent funeral celebrant I aim to make each client I support aware of all the choices available to them so that they, or the person they love, can have the send-off that is absolutely right for them.

Most people will only be faced with organising a funeral once or twice in their life and so may not be aware of the breadth of support a funeral celebrant will offer – from supporting with the ceremony to suggesting additional content such as candle ceremonies, sing-a-longs, symbolic gestures & unique personal touches - and even advising on alternative venues, florists, caterers and transport.

You may have become increasingly aware of some aspects of the funeral world, such as direct cremations, but may not know that your choices extend to living funerals, future planning, and separating the burial or cremation from the celebration of life. These are all things a funeral celebrant can explain and support you with.

The most important thing, is that death and funerals become something we talk about more openly, it’s about normalising these conversations and empowering people to have the send-off that is right for them, by providing the choice, information and support needed.

DID YOU KNOW that Rosemary is the herb of remembrance? 🪴
It has a rich history in honouring those who have passed, carrying with it not only a visual reminder but an olfactory one as well, as people instinctively smell its fragrance when they hold it.

As an evergreen, rosemary embodies the idea of eternal life, and for many, it also represents eternal love.

At a recent service I was privileged & honoured to conduct for a lovely lady the family gave everyone attending a sprig of Rosemary in remembrance of her and were invited to carry this sprig out of the chapel today as a symbol of the memories they all held dear.

The beautiful Christmas tree at North Wiltshire Crematorium where I had the privilege of conducting a beautiful service this afternoon with so many personal touches for a lovely gentleman and his family.

As we approach Christmas I am thinking of all the families I have had the honour of supporting this year and hope all those special moments you shared and the memories you made will provide you with comfort during this time.
