Quick little unedited post here showing just another step in armour building that really makes a difference. Wet molding!

This is a knee plate and this far it's been cut, edged, edge stamped, laced and now molded. The difference along the laced curve is significant, making the piece smoother and rounder while keeping the detail.

7 more pieces to lace and wet mold for the shoulders, arms and legs. Then I've got to focus on the belt, chest and gorget. After that - dying, edging and gilding!

This was a great project to create for a client, Uhtred costume, of Uhtred Bebbenburg from The Last Kingdom series and The Seven King's Must Die.

Lots of references from BTS and on screen to help create the vest, we will be looking to create the braces, belt and under jacket in the coming weeks.

How people REALLY want to dress: fantasy armour

So, we're traditional over here and literally draw and sketch and scribble before transferring to digital.
For armour? We make prototypes. Many, squishy, incorrect or weird shaped before getting it right.

This armour, is now through its prototype stage. Next? Onto leather!

Here is a little something to get you excited, recently the work on a costume commission, replica of Uhtred of Bebbenburg from the hit tv series, "The Last Kingdom" and "The Seven King's Must Die". Weaving leather, casting and painting buttons - there were some new skills we had to pick up and quite quickly!

On the photo with 3 buttons in a hand, guess which one is real 👀 I think we did a pretty good job of getting the metallic look really close.

⭐NEW COMMISSION SLOTS⭐
As with most businesses, we've been quiet because we've been working. Lots of bts and work in progress videos and photos to come but the editing takes time, and that time we've been focusing on pushing the work!

We've been learning and practicing new techniques, battling the weather (because we don't yet have an indoor paint station) and using all available workspaces to sand, paint, sew and gold leaf everywhere...

3D printers are running smoothly (I probably just jinxed it) and now the weather is finally starting to get better I can start dying fabrics for a big commission that has been slowly ticking away in the background.

However, COMMISSION SLOTS ARE OPEN FROM JULY

We've been working on this with @godofmischiefuk for some time, picking out fabrics and colours he was happy with, creating patterns, making adjustments, altering where necessary, adding a pocket. All for him to live out his MCU King dreams of floating around with a long cape in loafers ❤️ We didn't *quite* anticipate how tall he would end up with those green obsidian horns, but they seriously make a statement! All fabric from @minervadotcom 3d printed crown using @sunlu_official PLA on a @creality3d ender 5+. Paints from Montana Gold, finished with gold leaf. THE INSANE AMOUNT OF RESEARCH On today's research list: 🪡 Gathering as many screenshots as physically possible of every angle of the piece 🪡 looking around at patterns or templates that might already exist to cut down on work time 🪡 Comparing files and fabrics, bookmarking or jotting down links 🪡 Calculating how many yards of fabric or materials needed (my brain doesn't want to math today) 🪡 Guestimating how long it will take me to make each item 🪡 Averaging how much paint, how many beads, how much thread will be used 🪡 Finally - putting this together in a manageable initial quote to send to the client This is just for ONE client... 😂 #costumemaking #cosplay #commissions #smallbusiness #smallbusinessuk #research #quote #invoice #newyear
