We are at Hurworth Grange on Sunday 7th July 10am till 2pm.
This year promises to be even bigger with dedicated baby area, TWO arenas filled with demonstrations, amazing stall holders and over 15 FREE activities to join in with once you are inside.

😍Darlington Borough Council has developed a healthy catering award scheme for businesses, and Little Bear Catering has been awarded it😍

Obesity is increasing in the UK contributing to more than 30,000 deaths a year in England. An improved diet is linked to healthy weight and a heathier living style. Tooth decay is also a concern for our children, and lowering the amount of sugar consumed can support better dental health.

Food eaten ‘out of home’ contributes a high percentage of our overall calorie intake, making it much more challenging to maintain a healthy weight? At least 1 in 5 children eat from food outlets outside the home each week, and these foods are very often much higher in fat, sugar and salt and lower in nutrients, with meal deals popular for our budgets.

Little bear catering promotes a healthier and more nutritious lifestyle for children from 8 months+.

🌟Homemade cookie day🌟

🍪Bake some cookies with your little ones🍪

💙Perfect for those days when they're not feeling well (or you have a day off and don't feel like going out because of the wet and windy weather)💙

🐻Little bear and I did some cooking recently and thought we'd share with you our perfect recipe!🐻

🍪You will need:🍪

1 large mixing bowl
Either electric hand mixer or a wooden/silicone spoon for mixing (and lots of muscles🤣)
2 teaspoons
2 baking trays with either greaseproof paper or silicone mats
Clingfilm

Pre-heat fan oven to 170c

❤️Choc chip cookies ingredients:

150g unsalted butter
80g brown sugar
80g caster sugar (You can just use caster if you don't have brown)
1 medium egg
225g plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarb of soda
200g dark/white/milk choc broken into small chunks

❤️Choc chip cookies method:

Cream butter and sugar together in bowl with either spoon or beaters. 💓It's more fun watching your child mix the ingredients with the spoon👏
Add your egg and mix in. 🤩Careful, my little bear loves breaking eggs everywhere😉
Add the flour and the bicarb and mix well - which WILL go everywhere🤣
Add in your choc chunks. 🐻My little bear couldn't stop eating the chocolate 🍫, so make sure there some left for the recipe🤣

For the 🤩best🤩results, wrap in clingfilm and chill in fridge for at least 1/2 hr. This will make it look and taste better.

Once chilled, take out of fridge and use a teaspoon to scoop a dollop up and scrape off with the other teaspoon onto the silicone mat/greaseproof paper. 🥄 If you get the first dollop, your little one will enjoy scraping it off with other teaspoon🥄

😋Put each dollop about 3 - 4 cm apart on the tray.

💖Bake for 15 - 20 mins. Once started to colour, leave for 2 more minutes and they will be done. Take out and leave on tray for at least an hour. If you pick them up before, they will break! Don't worry if they're different shapes, this adds to the fun!

Once cooled, have fun eating them! Share with your friends or bake them for a party❤️

Store in airtight container for up to 3 days (if they last that long🤣)

🍕Pizzas.....🍕

The veggie one - Red onion, Olives, cheddar, feta and shaved parmesan

The meaty one - salami, chorizo, ham and cheddar cheese

Both pizzas are 10", with homemade dough, all on my homemade tomato sauce with a dash of BBQ sauce.

Both come frozen and with instructions on how to store and cook.

❤️Want to do something with your little ones before school and hectic life starts again? ❤️

🍪Try out this easy peasy recipe of shortbread biscuits... 🍪

You'll need
🤣 A good handful of patience🤣
Flat baking tray 30cm x 40 cm (roughly)
Silicone mat or baking parchment
Large plastic or glass bowl
Rolling pin
Palette knife or non sharp knife
Fork
Cutters in different shapes

Ingredients:
Makes 18 - 20 biscuits depending on size and shape
150g plain flour + more for dusting
100g chilled butter, cut into squares
50g caster sugar + more for sprinkling

Recipe:
Heat oven to 160c fan oven
Put flat tray with silicone baking mat/parchment somewhere close by😉
Put flour, butter and sugar into bowl and let the fun begin🤣
Mix with hands until all crumbly (mixture WILL go everywhere with little hands)
Keep mixing until it forms a doughy ball
(You can chill in fridge, however to keep little ones occupied, just keep going as long as you work fairly quickly and your Kitchen is not too hot!🔥)
Half the dough mixture, as if you keep using same dough, it becomes tough.
Sprinkle flour over work surface, use half mixture and flatten with hands ✋️
Use rolling pin to roll out ( roughly 1/2 cm)
Use your Cutters and enjoy being entertained😍
Carefully lift the shape using a palette knife or a flat knife and put on your tray.
👌Keep going with all the dough - promise it will be worth it🤞
Once all shapes have been put on tray, use a fork to prick gently all over the shapes. This is to help even the baking.
Sprinkle caster sugar over to make it crispier.
🔥Bake🔥 for 15 - 20 mins until just lightly browning at edges. Don't over bake, they won't taste as nice. Once taken out, leave on tray for 10 mins or until cooled.
🌟 Take pictures, you'll look back on these and have memories of baking🍪🎂🌟
Keep in airtight container for up to 4 days ( if they last that long) 🤣
