Wishing these gorgeous humans an absolutely cracking 1st wedding anniversary. Honestly, the loveliest people!

Claire & Graeme wanted a wildflower feel based on colours from an old family tartan and it was such a delight to do. Alongside personal flowers, I also provided a low runner for the registry table and 3 "living" candelabras which were filled not only with flowers but herbs and plants which were then dismantled and given to the happy couple to plant Iin their garden 💛💚🩷💙

It's so important to find suppliers that listen to your vision and work with you to achieve it, not just trundle out a brochure of a few standard bits and bobs.

Not only were these flowers locally grown, but the only waste was a few cable ties!

🌱 Spotlight on seasonality

There's nothing quite like being able to harvest your own fruit and veg - it tastes better, you know what food and earth etc has been used and it just makes you feel happy! Let's face it - the arrival of British strawberry season is definitely something to be heralded 🍓 proof is in the masses attending PYO farms and enjoying these independent local businesses growing quality products.

Well, it's the same with flowers. The pride in being able to incude even a few blooms in the bridal bouquet is unparalleled. And for the rest of the flowers, when you work closely with local flower farmers you know you will get the best of what's available and there is always helpful advice or alternative suggestions if required.

There is simply nothing quite like British flowers at their peak - their beauty, fragrance and the joy they bring as they bask in the sunshine. And who wouldn't want that on their wedding day?

Friday thoughts 💛💚💛 a celebration of the simple but glorious daffodil in all its many varieties.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest.” – Ernest Hemingway

I don't know about you, but I endure January and early February. Then pancake day happens and then suddenly, there is a sunny day and the early daffodils come out and then the blossom. With it comes an almost unexplainable feeling of hope, joy, impatience and sense of wanting to just get on with stuff but no idea what to do first!

Wishing you all a joyful weekend whatever you choose to do 💚

Channelling those summer vibes on a very wet day!

This is a close-up of a bridal bouquet from last year where the brief was simply "colour"! Seasonal blooms and foliage, with some fragrant apple mint and garden roses, made this a real treat.

So whether you have a clear colour scheme, a few flowers you'd like to include, or absolutely no idea - that's OK!

Get in touch, and let's walk through the garden gate together ❤️

* GIRL SQUAD GOALS *

I adore this image of Annie and her girls! They all looked so beautiful, and the choice of colours in the dresses, flowers and ribbon all just worked so well together 🩷💙

Just like you pick your girl or guy tribe, who will have you covered for every detail in your big day to be part, of the bridal party, the same goes for your suppliers. Pick those you gel with and understand your vibe - together they bring your dream day to life!

Diary now open for 2025 - let's make those flowery dreams come true 🌸

Where has the year gone?! A to earlier in the year, although not as early as you might think!

Annie and James got married in September, on an astoundingly hot day (especially when you happen to be 37 weeks pregnant!) and it was so beautiful.

Everything was so lovely
- beautiful venue
- the most helpful bridal party (the groomsmen moved the arch into the shade and then back again so we could work out of the direct heat 💙)
- my most favourite colour palette
- and to top it off, the loveliest bride and groom!

I have limited availability for 2024 as I am taking the first six months off to complete some treatment for a health issue, so please do get in touch for weddings from mid-June onwards.

There's a unique feeling to autumn colours - you get the muted browns interspersed with the still clinging on bright greens through the foliage, the bright berries and the full range of hot pinks and oranges which the ordered rational part of society tells you should not work together, and the joy that comes with Mother Nature saying "Oh yea? Watch this..."

I love it.

Oh what a joy it was to flower this wonderfully intimate wedding for the beautiful Clare and her lovely husband Graeme back in June 🩷

Inspired by Graeme's family tartan and his Scottish heritage, the flowers were wild and romantic, using herbs, grasses, oak leaves, and some beautiful British blooms.

Whilst it appears we have returned to April, a year ago today, it was one of the absolutely hottest days for the beautiful wedding of Kate and Richard

Challenging conditions for flowers, especially as it was windy and dry and absolutely no shade on top of the hill at the glorious believe it or not, the corn was green when I put it in the arch!

A gorgeous palette and the best of the summer, it was a joy to be part of their day.

Happy 1st anniversary guys!

Well it's been a minute hasn't it?!

We had a lovely week away in the Lakes and my weekend had a visit to not one but two rose gardens, quite possibly my favourite thing in the summer (that, and sweetpea tunnels!)

The first was and then I finally got to walk through the hallowed pergola which was (the image is of one of theirs). It was a brief visit as it was near closing and the kids were charging around like rhinos, so we decided best to revisit when it was just us grown ups (don't have to share your cake then either).

I adore English roses. The opulent ruffly-ness, the way the colours change as it opens and ages and that all consuming fragrance which is undeniably a rose. They can be a bit of a diva to work with but are so worth it.

So I urge you to spend a minute among the roses, wherever that is. Take a little moment for you and breathe deeply 🩷 embrace the calm, the scent and colour and wonder in nature.

Oh it's so chilly!

Posting this beautiful bunch as a reminder of warmer, more sunshiney days (taken on literally *the* hottest day of last year! for those who are longing for those warmer hours.

As we move out of the tulips and daffodils, the British flower season really starts gearing up to pull out all the stops, and I for one can't wait!

Some beautiful weddings coming up this year, all shapes and sizes but each perfectly unique to the couple 🩷

Diary is open for 2024 so please get in touch if you are still looking for the perfectly untamed and seasonal florals for your special day!

And comes to an end with all about me (that was the prompt, I promise)! Big thanks to for the inspiration.

So hello! Thanks for following along 😊

I'm Hannah, mum to two little cheeky boys aged 4 (who can't wait to be 5!) and nearly 2, and a superstar hubster, Tom.

We live in our forever home in a tiny village in Warwickshire, although neither of us are originally from here, in a long term renovation project.

I would not describe myself as a morning person (I can hear my husband heartily agreeing even as I write this!) but when I am up, I love the warm light summer mornings when it's just the birds and its still and calm.

A perfect evening is having friends round, preferably for a bbq and plenty of good wine, in the garden.

I love an occasional holiday abroad in the French countryside or the like (with great food - French bread, cheese, glass of vino and something from the patisserie and I'm more than happy!) but we love exploring the UK with the boys. We took them both camping for the first time last year and it was a massive hit so we will be doing that more!

In terms of flowers, I made a career change decision during the pandemic, like many, when I reassessed certain elements of my life. Rose Tinted Vases has been around for 3 years now and is developing all the time.

This year, I am focusing on my direction going forward so look out for new branding, new images and a total refresh later this year!

And where would we be without the flowers?
I have some beautiful weddings to flower this year which I am very excited about!

Sustainability

When I was setting out on my business journey it just really resonated with me. I think it's because working with essentially a natural product, we should be trying to keep things as green as possible.

💚 I don't use floral foam - this never breaks down, so is not great for the environment. This does mean sometimes you have to get a little bit more creative with your mechanics!

🌱 I limit single use plastics. This means I reuse things over and over, if there plastic as part of your arrangements I will collect to reuse or occasionally, if this is not feasible, I will ask you to recycle it.

🌺 I only use British flowers, where possible local, minimising the distance they have travelled. Using a variety of flower farmers means I can choose things that aren't available as imports, but also have an input as to what is grown for your wedding!

🪻 I supplement with my own cutting patch (currently tiny, but I'm working on it!) I don't use any pesticides, and I leave the seeds heads and things on to feed the various wildlife on over winter.

March Meet the Florist

Time for a bit of catch up on what goes on behind the scenes.

I have my own tiny cutting patch which I use to supplement the British flowers I buy from local flower farmers, and occasionally larger wholesalers in Cornwall and Lincolnshire.

It gives me enormous pride to use some of my own flowers in the weddings I do, even if it's only a few blooms at the moment!

All the flowers I use whether I collect them, cut them or they're delivered are conditioned so they are in the best possible condition for your big day. This means trimming and stripping hundreds of stems (and cleaning lots of buckets!) sometimes several days before they are needed, so what is a one day event for you is more like 3-4 day event for us!

My top tips for finding your wedding or event florist:

🌺 Find someone whose style you like. As creatives, we all have a different style so there's lots to choose from!

🌺 Find out if they have a minimum spend and whether this works with your budget, this will save both sides time in the long run.

🌺 Pick someone who gets you and you feel comfortable with - it's really important to have that connection with your suppliers!

🌺 Book them! Most florists will only take on a limited number of weddings per year due to the work required in the run up to each one, so when the date is gone, it's gone. And believe me when I say we hate turning people away!

today is all about away from the flowers 🩷

So there are 3 very important fellows in my life, 2 littlies and one bigger! Parenting is such a journey but the smiles and giggles of these two cheeky chappies make it all worth it.

A big part of my decision to set up my own business was the flexibility that this will bring, the ability to be there for the school pick ups and drop offs, the assemblies, the school holidays and whatever activities they choose to do as they get older.

And then of course, my partner in crime without whom very little of this would be possible - working out spreadsheets, helping tidy up the sheer chaos I create in the house on a wedding weekend without getting cross, automatically taking on my share of the responsibilities to free me up to work unhindered and then after all of this telling me I'm going to smash it and how proud he is - literally couldn't ask for a better hubster 🩷🩷🩷

Outside of the mushy family stuff (congrats if you got this far!) I have played the clarinet since I was 11 and play as part of Stratford Concert Band, which I love. I also have come to really enjoy my workouts with and believe when I say I was never into fitness unless I needed to run for a bus or something! But just that feeling of being fit and leaving it all out at class has done wonders for my mental health over the past year or so.

Florist snacks!

OK, I'll be honest - the wine is only for after the flowering is all done and dusted, but its somewhat more instagram-worthy than the proper snacks!

I love my food - great brunch of pancakes and bacon or if I'm feeling trendy, 🥑 on toast! Often it's an early start on wedding days so it's sort of a bit of toast, tea and then keep snacking as you're working.

Love a biscuit, bit of cake, packet of crisps but you can't go wrong with a banana for in the go, always followed by some sort of chocolate chaser (Cadbury creme egg anyone?)

And you can't beat that feeling of having loaded everything back in the car to head home and having a really tasty sandwich when you are oh so hungry!

[Heads off to find a snack!]

I always seem to be playing a little bit of catch back! So let's talk about colour and working with me today 🌈

I love colour! I am naturally drawn to pinks and blues but to be honest anything with colour really floats my boats. Even within a narrower band of one particular colour, there are so many hues and tones within the flowers, some within the same stem, you will still be able to get that beautiful range of colour and most importantly, texture. I love how putting in little pops of something completely different can really lift an arrangement, often something completely left field!

I confess I struggle a little bit with bright oranges and pillar box red, but as you can see from the image - these can always play their part if used in the right way!

When it comes to working with me, I love getting to know you - I don't want this to be a transactional here's my price list, pick from the catalogue type thing. Everything is priced bespokely and I want to get into the details of your flowery dreams. I use mood boards, we chat a few times and hopefully I then deliver exactly what you had in your head (even if you weren't quite sure what you wanted, because that's OK - that's what I'm here for!)

Kind words

There is nothing more joyous than receiving an unprompted thank you and wonderful feedback on your flowers. As a florist, every event is unique and you pour your heart and soul into every arrangement, no matter how big or small, fettling and fiddling with it until its just so!

Here are a few snippets I have received over the last year:

"Hannah was absolutely incredible every step of the way for our wedding...and when I say the flowers she created set the mood for the day, I mean it.
A very happy bride over here - Definitely recommend Rose Tinted Vases. Truly beautiful and hugely exceeded my expectations ###"

"Thank you again for the most beautiful flowers. It was honestly more than we could have imagined!"

So, I thought long and hard about the inspiration part and it comes in different forms. Inspiration to get out there an make it happen from friends and some wonderful women I have met along the way, inspiration to make a change most definitely from my boys and amazing husband and then there's the floral inspiration.

Without doubt there are some amazing florists out there who are definitely inspirational and have opened my mind as to the art of the possible, and how to do that sustainably.

For me, ultimately I think it comes down to nature. I work with seasonal flowers and nature is the best guide and once you start looking, you will find that the things that exist in the natural world are stunning, clever and do not conform to any rules other than their own and have a habit of surviving even the highest odds!

so today is about a proud moment.

During lockdown I'd had this revelation about flowers being the way forward and I ummed and aahed for a good few months about what to do next, should I trust this incredibly left field idea?

I am naturally quite risk averse, but the excitement and anticipation when I stepped through the doors of to start my career change course was high!

It was the first step on the journey to becoming a full time florist and I am proud to have trusted myself and taken the plunge to start on that road 🌱

Ah I got a bit behind already on ! However the prompts are passion and style, and for these are kind of intertwined.

For me, I've always loved a good garden - especially your wild, chaotic English country one with the wall and the white fence and mixed borders of all these amazing British flowers, full of colours, like foxgloves and scabious and rambling roses which smell heavenly. Never been one for a formal garden as it just feels a bit too perfect and counter intuitive to nature. It feels right therefore that my style is very much that - effortless, natural, wild and romantic - florals that just bring such a sense of joy and contentment in their beauty - just as a beautiful garden does - you just want to surround yourself with them and breathe them in 🥰

Such is my love for British flowers, these are the flowers I use, I don't import from Holland or so forth so my wedding season is naturally a little shorter, but long than you might think as the UK is not quite the barren land over winter what with some beautiful foliage and the hellebores heralding the arrival of hope towards the spring.

So today's is favourite flower...

There's a reason it's taken me all day to post! Too many to mention so I went for a few:

🩷 Beautifully scented sweet peas (although a bit tricky to work with)
🩷 Ruffly cosmos
🩷 double tulips that look so luxurious
🩷 Gorgeous velvety roses
🩷 Those gorgeous autumnal tones in rudbeckia
🩷 And of course - the many and magnificent dahlias.

But then there are anemones and ranunculus... and narcissus...oh and phlox, scabious...ooooo and stocks, and snaps...

Oh I give up!
