Hello my flovers! (Fellow flower lovers!)

It's been somewhat a while since I posted on here, there has been a lot going on the last couple of years and we all only have so much capacity.

I came to a natural pause point, and realised that you will miss the here and now if you continue to only look for the next thing and the next thing. Balance is absolutely key, and the little people are only little for such a fleeting time.

Whilst I slowly crank up re-entry, my website has temporarily been taken down whilst I rework it and can then finally launch my new branding and a new shiny look, but currently I do not have a defined timeline for this.

So, 2025!
New beginnings, new adventures, new forays into self improvement or perhaps just a readjustment in approach - what are your hopes and dreams for this turning of the calendar?

I am going to focus on perhaps trying to be a little bolder, say yes a little more and remember that being kind to yourself on occasions doesn't necessarily mean you are being lazy! Oh, and I'd love to read more and try and drag my bottom back out running again (if I write it down it might happen..!)

Exciting plans are ahead for the cutting garden which will hopefully blend beauty and space for growing, making it a pretty place to sit and relax as well as a functional growing space. Think espaliered fruit trees and rose and honeysuckle arches and you're on the right track!

So if British grown flowers which align to the seasons, sustainable methods and a friendly can do florist float your boat, and you said yes this Christmas or new year - come have a chat - I'd love to make you part of my 2025!

Get those winter jumpers on and book your place at this wonderful evening!

For the first time, I am running this one-off event in conjunction with at brand new venue and it promises to be a really lovely start to the festive season.

During the evening, you will be able to decorate a lush wreath base made using a variety of British foliage. A variety of beautiful adornments will be available including dried fruit, cones, willow stars and a selection of ribbon.

Whilst you are enjoying festooning your wreath, you will be treated to an informative and delicious wine tasting from Lindsay, owner and director of Wine Poole Ltd.

Tickets cost £65 and include all wines and materials for completing your wreath.

Spaces are limited so don't delay!

Let's talk colour!

Floristry is a creative art that uses natural products, and just like using watercolour paints where each brush stroke is different, every flower will have variation. Whether this is in petal size, shape, but also in colour.

A lot of flowers are not purely one colour uniformly across all blooms.

Take the image above - this is Desdemona, a technically white rose, but as you can see in this image it has peachy pink tones whereas the one behind it has creamier notes (no filters used). Aside from the fact that there is no such thing as a pure white rose (thank you editing software!), natural variation is completely normal and incredibly beautiful.

So when considering your colour themes, leave some room for those wonderful highlights - you'll be amazed at the magic your florist can create.

When the sun makes a timely appearance after incessant rain the day before, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief!

Seasonal British centre pieces for a 25th anniversary lunch, using the best of the fields that week in shades of pinks, corals and whites.

Never be afraid to let your florist off the lead - find someone you trust, whose work you love and you will not be disappointed when you allow them to maximise their creativity.

PS used here - flower frogs and chicken wire to hold everything in place, all of this can be reused

A little bit of a fieldtrip for me as this was in East Sussex where I grew up in the beautiful and I was also a guest at the lunch so a few quick changes required between set up and guest 😆

Gorgeous hospitality from Maria who not only supplied me with flowers but welcomed me into her home to put everything together so I had a space to work - thank you!

Wishing these gorgeous humans an absolutely cracking 1st wedding anniversary. Honestly, the loveliest people!

Claire & Graeme wanted a wildflower feel based on colours from an old family tartan and it was such a delight to do. Alongside personal flowers, I also provided a low runner for the registry table and 3 "living" candelabras which were filled not only with flowers but herbs and plants which were then dismantled and given to the happy couple to plant Iin their garden 💛💚🩷💙

It's so important to find suppliers that listen to your vision and work with you to achieve it, not just trundle out a brochure of a few standard bits and bobs.

Not only were these flowers locally grown, but the only waste was a few cable ties!

🌱 Spotlight on seasonality

There's nothing quite like being able to harvest your own fruit and veg - it tastes better, you know what food and earth etc has been used and it just makes you feel happy! Let's face it - the arrival of British strawberry season is definitely something to be heralded 🍓 proof is in the masses attending PYO farms and enjoying these independent local businesses growing quality products.

Well, it's the same with flowers. The pride in being able to incude even a few blooms in the bridal bouquet is unparalleled. And for the rest of the flowers, when you work closely with local flower farmers you know you will get the best of what's available and there is always helpful advice or alternative suggestions if required.

There is simply nothing quite like British flowers at their peak - their beauty, fragrance and the joy they bring as they bask in the sunshine. And who wouldn't want that on their wedding day?

I don't know about you, but I endure January and early February. Then pancake day happens and then suddenly, there is a sunny day and the early daffodils come out and then the blossom. With it comes an almost unexplainable feeling of hope, joy, impatience and sense of wanting to just get on with stuff but no idea what to do first!

This is a close-up of a bridal bouquet from last year where the brief was simply "colour"! Seasonal blooms and foliage, with some fragrant apple mint and garden roses, made this a real treat.

I adore this image of Annie and her girls! They all looked so beautiful, and the choice of colours in the dresses, flowers and ribbon all just worked so well together 🩷💙
