This particular pose allows you to stretch your entire upper body, with particular focus on your core. You can adjust the intensity of the backbend by straightening or bending your elbows to suit your needs.

•Begin on your belly with your feet hip-distance apart and your hands beside your ribs.
•Extend your big toes straight back and press down with all ten toenails to activate your quadriceps
•Pressing down lightly with your hands, start to lift your head and chest, rolling your shoulders back and down.
•Keep the back of your neck long and focus on lifting your sternum instead of lifting your chin.
•Straighten your arms while keeping your shoulders remaining away from your ears.
•To exit the pose, release back to your mat.

This was an intimate event whereby we demonstrated how to make two seasonal dishes, whilst creating a feast for the participants to eat 👅

🍅 The dishes made were:
~Heritage Tomato Panzanella w/ focaccia croutons
~Roasted cauliflower purée, pan fried cauliflower & hazelnut salsa verde

U S T R A S A N A - camel pose 🧘🏼

This particular pose is an energising, heart-opening posture that counteracts slouching and relieves lower back pain. This pose strengthens the chest, abdomen and quadriceps whilst toning the glutes and hamstrings.

•Come onto your knees, place them hip-width apart.
•Engage your inner thighs, draw your lower belly in and up, and roll your shoulders back
•On an inhalation, lengthen through both side waists, lift the chest up
•With the lower body stable, on an exhale start to come into your backbend keeping the chest lifted and without crunching the neck or lower back
•As you lean back, find your blocks or heels with your hands – or you can do this one side at a time by circling one arm up and behind you
•Keep your inner thighs engaged, firm the shoulder blades into the back and stay for a couple of breaths
•Use your inhalation to help you come back up, then sit on your heels with a neutral spine for a moment.

ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA - downward facing dog 🧘🏻‍♀️

This particular pose strengthens your wrists, arms and shoulders. It stretches your wrists, hamstrings, and back. Because the posture lengthens your spine, it counteracts the effects of prolonged sitting and improves posture (perfect if you’ve been sat at a desk all day 👩🏻‍💻)

•Come onto your hands and knees and bring your hands slightly in front of your shoulders. •Spread your fingers wide, press down through your knuckles, and tuck your toes under.
•Exhale as you lift your knees off the mat and reach your sit bones toward the ceiling. Keep your knees slightly bent as you lengthen your back.
•Press the back of your thighs toward the wall behind you and stretch your heels toward the mat. Straighten your knees without locking them.
•Press the base of your index fingers into the mat. Lift along your inner arms from your wrists to your shoulders. Firm your shoulder blades against your back, then widen them and draw them toward your tailbone. Relax your neck and keep your head between your upper arms.
•Try to relax here. Stay here for 10 or more breaths.

Last week the lovely guided the members of No.1 Spinningfields through a sound bath meditation.

What is a Sound Bath you ask❓
- Sound baths are a form of meditation in which participants are immersed in soothing sounds produced by various instruments. The idea is that the vibrations and frequencies of these sounds can help induce a state of deep relaxation, reduce stress, and promote a sense of well-being. Some people find them beneficial for enhancing mindfulness, easing anxiety, and aiding in meditation due to their calming effects on the mind and body.

MATSYASANA - fish pose 🧘🏼

This particular pose stimulates the organs of your belly and throat. It also strengthens your upper back and the neck, relieving stress and irritation.

•Lie down flat on your back and cross your legs.
•Place your hands on the floor, palms facing downwards.
•Keep your forearms firmly on the floor and lift your chest up by weighing down on your elbows.
•When your chest is off the floor, lower your head back till it touches the floor.
•Breathe evenly as your body is now an arch. Maintain the posture for around a minute.

~ To unwind from the posture, lift your head off the floor and straighten your back.
Now, lower your torso completely onto the floor. Relax your body - sit with the new sensation.
