A fashion show with a difference will be gracing The De La Warr featuring local designers to the south east.

Our designers consist of a varied array featuring costumes, ready to wear.

With a theme of Opulence the designers have an opportunity to create and display some amazing designs for all to see.

Designer reveal

Laura is Hastings born and bred. She has done a little bit of nearly everything: raised ducklings, worked for the prison service, baked cakes for a cafe and so much more.

She started sewing whilst recovering from a trampolining injury over 10 years ago. The first thing she made was a quilt for a friend’s daughter. She has continued to sew ever since, usually making clothes for children, combining the most colourful and vibrant prints she can find with comfortable patterns. Her daughter, Grace, is often her guinea pig and inspiration, and it’s not been unknown for them to have matching Made4Monkeys outfits.

Laura has sold her pieces in markets and at fairs across Sussex and Kent over the past 18 months, as well as generating interest for online sales through Facebook and Instagram. This is her first fashion show and she is extremely excited about seeing the children bringing her creations to life.

Designer reveal!!

Illustrator, collagist and objet trouvé artist, Quinnell has also been interested in costume work and fashion, producing occasional outfits for shows, parades, and theatre.
He is particularly keen on jumble sales, second-hand and repurposed clothing.

Designer reveal!

Emma purchased her first sewing machine during lockdown, making facemasks along with cushions, bunting, scrunchies and small items before moving on to clothing.

She helped create the fantastic costumes for Shrek the Musical at the De La Warr Pavillion under the instruction of Sam Lewis at Blods.

Now enjoying being a bridal seamstress and making clothing and accessories for friends and family in her spare time

Sam Lewis, the creator of Stitch & Snip has been a fashion & costume designer for over seven years.

Sam is very passionate about his work and enjoys all aspects of fashion and costume design. He graduated in 2016 with a BA (hons) in Musical Theatre from MET (Greater Brighton Metropolitan College). He has been involved in several local Fashion shows which includes:

Sam has a very unique vision, he incorporates his passion for Art into Fashion. By combining the world of Art , Fashion and Costume he has the desire to create stunning and unique Fashion concepts. Over the last few years, Sam has enjoyed creating costumes for local productions and fashion shows within the Bexhill & Hastings area. He has a bubbly personality with the passion and drive for designing success.

Designer reveal!!

My name is Joe Taylor, I am 30 years old, and I am a proud Bexhillian.
My educational journey has been a quite a learning curve; from my original ambition to be a Palaeontologist, to working in the creative industries for Film & TV.
In my early to mid-teens, I developed a passion for drawing and illustration. Following secondary school, I moved up to Bexhill College where I studied subjects to support a potential future as a palaeontologist, and to develop my artistry skills. However during this time, I forsook my original ambition to focus on creative subjects which I followed through further education and finally University of Brighton. In these early years, whilst I was uncertain as to a career, I was confident my passion for art and creativity would lead me down the right path.
During my studies, my enjoyment of creating expanded from Fine Art into Textiles, and gradually my ability grew to develop a flat drawing into a 3D wearable item. Whilst learning new techniques in pattern cutting for both men and womenswear, I enjoyed blurring the boundaries and experimenting with design.
Initially I foresaw my future in fashion design, but following a work placement during the penultimate year at university, took me down a different path. The placement was an chance to work on a BBC drama in the costume department - I was was inspired. From this came further opportunities in costume for both TV and film where I was able to utilise my creative abilities, finally to see my own designs on screen.

Designer reveal!!!

ADAM FROST is a q***r working class visual artist, fashion designer, performance artist and musician from South East London, raised in Hastings and now based in London.

Frost takes inspiration from autobiographical moments and happenings in everyday life such as death, depression, sexual health, Tracey Emin meets Bjork meets Grace Jones meets Haute Couture.

“Visual art combined with high fashion, performance art, music”

Frost studied at Hastings college, went onto study BA Fashion at Middlesex University London, interned in fashion, had performance art residencies then got into the Royal College Of Art, studying MA Fashion. Since then Frost went onto creating a collection ‘Aciclovir’ SS21, shown in Gallery 46 Whitechapel with his paintings, along with music and performance combined. This collection was a bit stand out of Frost’s career

Currently Frost is working on their new fashion collection and music project ‘EVERYTHING I NEED IS WITHIN ME’ which is coming this February 2023, along with a range of singles dropping this year, produced by Luca LeBleu.

Frost has dressed Princess Julia, Tayce, Desta French, Nina Miranda, Bimini, Shea Coulee, Choriza May, Anubis, Crystal and been featured in VOGUE, i-D, Dazed Beauty, PERFECT, LOVE, KING KONG, TMWR and more.

Meet the team!!

Callum Pelling
Co-Founder, Technical Director

Callum started his career in 2014 as a Follow Spot Op on his school production of Sweeney Todd. After getting involved in this show, Callum realised that this was going to be his life. He started training with a local company learning all components of the industry whilst operating live events and after 4 years split off and started Priiism Av. Now, Callum takes a forward role in the company, not only running the day to day tasks, but getting out on every job he can, helping and supporting the team. Callum has extensive training in both sound and lighting from his time doing theatre and Live bands. More recently, he built up his video knowledge with the uptake in virtual and hybrid events, meaning he could make sure the company would be able to supply enough knowledge for any event. He is more than proud to be part of his amazing team at CS events.
