This weekends beautiful couple ❤️ Finally allowed to celebrate their wedding over a year later, you can see just how happy they are!

The Bride’s bouquet consisted of peonies, sweet peas, stocks and tulips to name a few - it smelt delicious!

🌷 Advice 🌷
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember when choosing your vessel and location at home for cut tulips -
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Geotropic - bend with gravity
Phototropic - reach towards the light
Continuously grown - even when they’ve been cut
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You may want to choose a thin necked vessel to support the stems to prevent drooping (as seen in picture 2)

*Brexit*

How Brexit is affecting the flower industry, particularly interesting if you are planning your wedding...

*A combination of the global pandemic affecting growers and their produce + logistical issues caused by brexit = increase in cost
*From April, flowers will be inspected before making their way to the UK = possible delay in bringing flowers into the country
*8% tariff on flowers grown outside of the EU - believe it or not your flowers come from all over the world, particularly Africa and South America and all of these flowers now face an 8% tariff = increase in prices for florists and customers

Ideally we would all purchase locally grown flowers and foliage, most flower farmers grow from April - October in the UK and this really limits the variety of flowers you can use in your wedding. E.g if you are getting married in December and you would like scented garden roses in your bouquet, Roses do not bloom in the UK in December so these roses will have to be imported from South America via Holland and therefore will incur the 8% tariff. Something for brides and grooms to bare in mind when you are budgeting for your flowers...please save and share with your friends who may be getting married!

Excited for Spring - apart from all of the obvious reasons - my favourite season for flowers. Peonies, sweet peas, stocks, iris, tulips, plus all the beautiful bulbs that are sprouting at the moment. Daffodils and snowdrops are something to look forward to 😊

🌎 WILL YOU PLEASE STAND. 🌍

16.01.21.

Today we ask our global community to please post this image, and all join together across Instagram to stand up for weddings.

Stand up for weddings. Stand up for engaged couples. Stand up for suppliers and venues. Stand up for creatives. Stand up for culture. Stand up for society. Stand up for artists. Stand up for your friends or family.

The global wedding industry employs millions of people in every corner of the world. It is dominated by female led businesses who contribute billions to economies. It creates millions of memories in the minds and hearts of people in every part of society.

In most countries we are still heavily restricted or banned from working during the pandemic. In the U.K. we have been closed in all but name since March 2020 without any meaningful or targeted financial support. Couples have not been told when they can marry again, or in what capacity.

We ask our leaders for financial support and guidance on reopening. We must not lose our talent. We must not lose livelihoods. We must not forget the importance of love and commitment.

Will you and all your followers please stand. Encourage others to join in. Tag your guests and supplies, your colleagues and your friends. Tell your story. Let’s ensure we are seen and heard.

STAND UP. Stand up for weddings. 💕

Happy New Year! First post of 2021, I was trying to remain optimistic that 2021 would start better than 2020 finished but that was short lived 🤣 Once again weddings are not allowed and it’s hard to not have deja vu! My diary is open for 2022, so if you’re planning your wedding for next year please get in touch at [email protected] or 07766830380. I also have some availability for Spring 2021. In the meantime I’ll be filling my grid up with pictures of the beautiful countryside and maybe some house renovations 🤩

We will still be flowering London weddings in 2021 (as things hopefully improve) and now we will be operating in Essex and Suffolk too!
