Would you believe me if I told you that this bride originally wanted a simple but elegant fondant cake, no added details at all.
However only a couple of months prior to her wedding she done a 360 on the design and wanted all the frills and wow factor with this Lambeth style 4 tier, hand piped wedding cake!
This is why all I don’t start designing your cake until a few months prior to your wedding day. Your design and style can change so much between booking with me, and your actual wedding day… as they say, a lot can change in a year!

I have lots of people ask me how I got into making cakes, so here’s a little snippet of my background, before The Cake Creative.
Before I started creating gorgeous wedding cakes & fun celebration cakes… I was the wedding coordinator for this gorgeous, award winning Essex wedding venue in Ongar.
I loved being able to be part of my couples weddings and creating moments that they will treasure forever.
But after my Son was born in 2016 I started baking while on maternity leave and something clicked! After returning to work, I focused on learning everything I could about creating amazing cakes & decided to open my own little cake business.
In 2019 I decided to go full time and put my wedding coordinator days behind me… and the Cake Creative became my full time job.
I love that I can still be part of my couples big day, and get to create their dream cake and a core memory of their wedding 🥰

One thing people don’t think about, or realise, is that you don’t have to have your wedding cake one flavour.
This means if you are having a 3 tier cake, each tier can be a different flavour. For example, you could have Zesty Lemon, Victoria Sponge & Chocolate & Oreo… meaning there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
You even get to try some of these flavours after your final design consultation around 4 months prior to your wedding.

A few things to remember when booking your wedding cake.
Let’s talk dummy tiers first.
If you want to achieve that fabulous tall elegant look for your wedding cake, but don’t want lots of cake left over… or worse, wasted!
I suggest using a dummy tier or even a spacer between your cake tiers. This can give you the same effect, without the cake waste and at a lower cost!

* And if you have a budget.
Once I have all this information I will send you out an estimated quote.
However, please be aware that this is subject to change by the time we come to your final design consultation (a few months prior to your wedding day).
You may completely change your mind on the design or even have more guests to cater for!

✨Pricing your cake
Before I can give you a quote for your wedding cake, I need to know the following information.
This is because all of my cakes are individually priced based on your style, design and where I will be delivering.
~ How many guests in total (day & evening) do you have coming?
I need to know this so I can work out the correct size of cake and how many tiers you will need for your wedding cake.
~ Which Wedding venue have you chosen for your big day?
All of my quotes include delivery and set up of your cake to your wedding venue, on the morning of your wedding.
~ The style or design of the cake you would like? Please feel free to send through inspirational pictures. Although I will never directly copy a design, these are great to get an idea of what you would like your cake to look like.
~ The date of your wedding?
This is an important one, as I need to make sure that I have your wedding date available, as I can get booked up to 2 years in advance.

I got to celebrate with my partner and his amazing family at his brothers wedding yesterday… they even put all their trust in me to create their wedding cake. Without any input from them the design was completely up to me… now that is pressure!

How much have you, or did you, budget for your wedding cake?
When budgeting for your cake, there are a few things to take into consideration when it comes to the price.
I know that planning a wedding for the first time can be a minefield. But hopefully this will help give you an insight into what it is you are actually paying for!
✨ Wedding cake designers have spent years learning and honing their skills and are creating a bespoke item, it’s not as simple as just ‘baking a cake’.
✨ The style and detail you want on your cake, the more detail, the more time this will take.
✨ If you want beautiful hand made sugar flowers covering your cake, expect this to add ££ to the final price. They take a lot of time to create and add on to your cake too… they are very fragile!
✨ The time and travel expense to deliver your cake to your wedding venue. If you love the work of a certain cake designer that lives a few hours away, be prepared to pay the extra for safe delivery of your gorgeous cake!
✨ A 3 tier wedding cake can take up to 12 hours to shop, design, make and do basic decoration. Any additional decoration will be extra materials and hours of work.

Do you know why these are all a ‘No’ from me? Ok so firstly, these are only a few of the questions I get asked, so if you have any others pop them in the comments and I will be happy to help! ⭐️ Do you freeze cakes? ~ ‘That’s a real quick No!’ I make all of my couples wedding cakes fresh for their wedding day. This is mainly because I know there is sometimes cake left over after your wedding, and that way YOU can freeze any left overs if you want to! ⭐️ Can I have Gypsophila flowers on my cake? ~ ‘That’s a hard pass!’ Gypsophila (along with some other fresh flowers) is poisonous and should not be used to decorate or in contact with food! If you do decide to use fresh flowers from your florist, I always make sure these are made cake safe before using to decorate your wedding cake. Always double check with your florist as they should have a list of flowers that are food safe. ⭐️ Does my cake have to be one flavour? ~ ‘Absolutely not!’ If you are having a tiered cake, you can choose a different flavour for each tier… unless you really want a three tier chocolate Oreo cake that is! Don’t forget you will receive a cake sample box of some of my flavours, at your consultation to help you decide too! ⭐️ Can you use buttercream instead of Ganache? ~ ‘Very uninterested in that option!’ Although your cake will be filled with a delicious soft buttercream, all of my cakes are covered with a deluxe white chocolate ganache before being decorated with fondant icing (that is unless you are having a buttercream cake!) The reason I use ganache under my icing instead of buttercream, is because it gives me a beautiful smooth base to create your gorgeous cake design when decorating.
