//Lets talk cake flavours//

Because you can choose a different flavour for each tier of your cake, I always suggest the following - based on a three tier cake.

~ Bottom tier - crowd pleaser flavour, like Victoria Sponge or a Chocolate cake
~ Middle & Top tier - you and your fiancé chose a flavour each that you love to be included in your cake. You just need to decide who gets the biggest tier!

You obviously want your guests to enjoy your cake, but it is your wedding and this is your time to have something to represent both of you too.

Have you thought about this?

The one thing that every couple I speak to has not thought about, is the styling for their wedding cake.

You spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands of pounds on your wedding cake for it to just be placed on a boring round table in the corner of the room, why?

When you plan the venue styling for your wedding breakfast & evening reception, make sure you think about how you want to showcase your wedding cake.
Whether you create a gorgeous flower display around it, an elegant acrylic stand and candle decor or even a beautiful table cloth, incorporate your wedding cake in your decorations.

Make it a centrepiece, hours of planning, designing and decorating go into creating your beautiful wedding cakes, so make sure you show it off!

Let me introduce myself!

With lots of new followers, I thought I would re-introduce myself and show you inside my Billericay cake studio.

My name is Heather and I am the face behind The Cake Creative. I first started my cake journey in 2016 when I was on maternity leave with my son.

I have always worked in the fast paced hospitality industry, which had taken me all over the world.
From Disney world, Florida, to Fiji, New Zealand and back to England where I worked as a Wedding Coordinator for a beautiful Essex venue -

So I started baking as a hobby and to keep my hands & mind busy while my son slept, plus who doesn’t love home made cake!
It soon turned into a passion and I carried on baking at every opportunity, when I returned to work.
A year & a half later, a mental breakdown and being signed off work for 6 weeks, I felt that someone was telling me that I needed to pursue my baking and go all in with my business. It was scary at first, but I’m lucky to have amazing family & friends who supported me.
I also found the amazing at this time, who I don’t think I would have been able to get where I am now without.

6 years later I have a beautiful studio to create my cakes in, I was a finalist for cake designer of the year 2025 and I am planning my next venture into teaching cake decorating classes.

Creating gorgeous & fun cakes is my passion, and I am so glad that I took the chance and made the leap & had the grit and determination to pursue it!

My last wedding cake of 2024, and what a gorgeous cake to finish on 🦢

🥂 Huge congratulations to Jackie & Howard who married on the 28th December, I hope you had the most wonderful day!

From the swan toppers, to the perfectly colour matched sugar flowers (yes those roses are handmade), this was such a beautiful cake to create, alongside the couples vision.

🥂Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Dryden who married yesterday at the gorgeous

Shelby (the bride) came to me with an idea that she had drawn for her wedding cake, and I absolutely LOVED bringing her dream cake to life!

When she also asked if I could create a surprise topper, for her new husband, of her little family I obviously said yes straight away.

As they are both Police officers, she thought it would be fun to have the Bride & Groom in their uniforms & the children in their wedding outfits.
I tried to make sure to include as much detail as possible, including their badge numbers on their lapels!

What a great keepsake from their wedding, that can be kept pride of place on display in their home.

Thank you to the wonderful for providing me with the fresh flowers for the cake also!

// Fresh Flowers on a Cake //

A throw back to this stunning cake, created for the new Mr & Mrs Richards, from the end of August this year.

They wanted a gorgeous cascade of fresh flowers down the front of their cake, that matched their venue decor & centre pieces.

Their florist left me a wonderful selection of flowers for me to dress the cake, which was done at the venue.
Of course each stem was wrapped & special cake safe protecters (called posey picks) were used to help safely attach the flowers to the cake.
