For those who have met myself and Heather at a curious creatures event or booking, you will most likely have met Shirley! 🐍

Shirley is the colourful plush we use for those who are unsure and nervous about touching our snakes and lizards. The idea is that the sequins on Shirley resemble the look at texture of the scales on our snakes and lizards. 🐍🦎

A simple yet effective setup done for a crested gecko. Additional sticks, decor and climbing was added post setup.

Our gecko set ups are suited to the individual species. 🦎

The closest thing we can compare a Giant African Land snail is a living vacuum! While their main diet consists of fruits 🍎🍌 vegetables 🥦🥒 and other plant matter 🌿🍂 they have been seen consuming paper and cardboard as well as sand, small stones and bone. Cannibalism is also on the menu either on occasion. 🐌🐌

With around 80 rows of teeth 🦷 these invertebrates will devour almost any natural material they come across. Being a species that gorge themselves means they can grow up to lengths of 20 cm. This is why they require calcium-rich objects such as stones and bones. 🪨🦴

Important Announcement!

For the past four years we have kept our prices the same. Unfortunately costs keep rising for us and to ensure we are able to care for the animals to the standard we strive to, we are going to have to increase our prices.

This price change will come into effect from 1st January 2025.

All events booked in before this date will be at our current prices and as a little extra and thank -s for supporting us over the years gone, we will be offering 15% off if you book before 23rd December 2024!

Today we say goodbye to another of our amazing animals.

Khaleesi was another bearded dragon we rescued in March last year, she was found abandoned in a field in Stratford....apparently. sometimes when rescuing animals its better not to question previous care etc and just take the animal into a better, safer, healthier environment. In this case Khaleesi came with an entire setup, vivarium, heat bulbs, cages, substrate, decor, feeding items and many other items needed for caring for a bearded dragon, a very kind thing to purchase for one night for a lizard you found in a field!

Please if you decide to get a bearded dragon or any animals for that matter make sure you know what your doing care wise, please make sure it isn't an impulse buy and get bored after a year or so. These animals are amazing and deserve better from those who decide to care for them.

Khaleesi was a healthy bearded dragon initially, but over time signs began to show that there was underlying health issues. She began to loose body mass, become weak and wobbly on her legs, would lie flat rather than hold herself us and eventually it all caught up with her, causing her to need an operation on one of her eyes, thankfully the amazing team at of Nigel and Tegan were on hand to offer help and advise where they could!
Unfortunately one problem lead to another, whilst Khaleesi was recovering from the operation, her body couldn't keep up with the results of poor care. Her body began to shut down and after a couple weeks on treatment and hand feeding we made the difficult decision to have her put to sleep.

She joins Princess and Buttercup in a group of bearded dragons that many loved, bought happiness, joy and learning to many.

Please remember if you own an animal, you are responsible for them and their care!
