Hello everyone! Just a quick message for those who have contacted us over the past few days. We are currently very busy with bookings, all enquiries and messages should be replied to by tomorrow evening. Please don't think we are ignoring you. There are only two of us so sometimes it takes a little longer to get back to you.
Thank you for your patience
Who's joining us today?
10am till 4pm!
Safe to say Odin doesn't not want to get up today π
We will be at on Monday and Tuesday, 30th and 31st October taking part in their reptile exhibition event! Come along and see us and all our Curious Creatures!
Another brilliant custom tank we did for a customer recently. A 60x45x90 habistat paludarium for vampire crabs and selection of green and brown anoles.
Today is National Reptile Awareness Day! π
We love all of our reptiles here at Curious Creatures (and all reptiles in general).
We do out best to celebrate and raise awareness about the incredible world of reptiles and encourage people to learn more about these unique animals along with their care and needs.

How cute!? This little one is a baby mourning gecko! π¦
Decided to take Odin for a walk today, he seemed to enjoy it although did try and escape his harness π
Peekaboo!
Nagini loves a good feed!
Where ever we go we are always on the look out for inspiration for our own enclosures. Some of the enclosures we have seen are amazing and we plan to match these in the future for our own animals!
This is wjat happens when you try and take a nice photo of your tre frogs π
Leopard geckos eat the skin they shed to prevent their scent and location being detected by predators π¦π
Our new Asian forest scorpion decided to molt for us yesterday. How cool is that molt!?
As the scorpion grows (or anything with an exo skeleton) its hard exoskeleton becomes too small for its body and so must grow a new one. This process is called molting.
People always ask us whether Nagini has teeth....our response is always the same. Yes, which is why we don't poke her in the mouth. Here she is displaying two of her four rows of teeth on the top of her mouth.
Boa constrictors have 4 rows of teeth on the upper jaw and 2 rows on the bottom with around 100+ teeth in total. π¦·π

Introducing our Giant Asian mantis, Hierodula membranacea.
Once this little guy is all grown up it will be available for parties and for people to meet.
Thats one serious concentration face from Bam Bam, its almost like I rattled his food bowl π
Its time to introduce these three, one of the species we are most excited about working with, the Cuban false chameleon. We have Floki, Helga and Rollo, some of you might have been lucky enough to meet them at the event we did at Shirley Aquatics.
Anolis barbatus is a species of anole which mimics the chameleon and has independently moving eyes.
These guys are now available for bookings. They are such a great little species and we love them!
This is what happens when you've done all the paperwork for the day π and your animals are being cute.
Captain Neytiri gecko
We love it when Nagini goes into shed, watching her eyes go blue never fails to amaze us!
Don't forget tomorrow we will be at Spencer's Retreat 11am - 2pm
Come along and meet our animals along with the farm animals
Saw this and my creative mind went wild...I could see it all set up for our water dragons.
Live pants, natural branches, live moss and amazing water feature!
Maybe one day we will be able to have something like this π We can both dream.
Credit to for a beautiful tank.
Another one of our bio active setups, this one for our leopard geckos. Sand/soil mix, selection of succulents, sand stone natural rock, cork bark and a variety of clean up crew consisting of woodlice, earthworms and darkling beetles = happy geckos.
Our boy Thorin is looking rather handsome and showing off some of his beautiful colours!
We had another good day at on Saturday for their reptile day!
Keep an eye out on our socials for any further reptiles days we attend!
One of the benefits of what we do is seeing everyone who meets us and our animals, having positive reactions and the growth of those, who at first are scared, getting the courage to touch and even hold the animals they were once scared of and unsure of.
Seeing the excitement and fascination in their eyes makes it all worth it, for example these pictures are some we received whilst doing many holiday clubs over the summer!
Got to love plant shopping!
πͺ΄ππ³πΏπ
All beneficial to our animals, some we buy, some we admire...if there is someone out there who'd like to to sponsor our plant buying habits then please send us a message! π
Dont forget we are at Shirley Aquatics today. 10am to 4pm. Come along and meet our animals!

Just a friendly reminder that Cleo and the rest of our animals don't like loud noises!
Throwback to a baby Odin!
How cute was he, still find it hard to believe that he fitted into one hand. We still remember his little huffs and hisses when we first brought him back. He has become a favourite amongst many of you guys and definitely by us!

This Saturday we are back at Shirley aquatics for another reptile weekend! Come along and meet some old friends and maybe even meet some new creatures! π
Saturday 16th 10am - 4pm.
Tickets are Β£3 each or Β£10 for family of 4!
A couple close-ups of our curly hair tarantula eating a cricket! π·
Its so incredible being able to see the details of the hairs. Unfortunately she wouldn't let us get a photo of her fangs, she kept them well out of the way!

The animals had a very exciting day today. They got to meet and hang out with the wonderful Myleene Klass.
Keep an eye out for more behind the scenes photos appearing over the coming weeks π¦π and check out Myleene's Instagram for more clips of our animals

Thinking your animals are eating a lot recently....they must be having a growth spurt....no....they're just making friends with the morio wormsπ

Its always important to give your animals as much of a varied diet as possible.
In this case our beardie, Khaleesi has got some mixed leaf salad, strawberry and cucumber for her lunch today.

Ever wondered why the crested gecko got its name?
Take a look at this photo of Simba and you will see why
Its clear to see why gargoyle geckos are the more predatory cousin of the crested gecko. Those teeth allow this species to eat prey items that other species wouldn't usually eat such as small mammals, small lizards and even larger cockroaches.

A little bit of enrichment for Smaug this afternoon. This is so simple, just some morioworms in a box with a thin layer of dirt. We do this outside his Viv as he has a deep substrate layer and they usually burrow down too quickly for him. #foodenrichment #enrichment #reptileenrichment #reptilesofinstagram #boscmonitor #boscmonitorsofinstagram #reptile #beavers #childrensentertainment #scouts #cubs #rainbows #brownies #schoolvisits #birthday #reptilesofinstagram #curiouscreatures #education #reptilekeeper #LearningCanBeFun #animalencounter #reptileencounters #meetouranimals #birthdaypartyideas #schoolvisit #reptile

Hello everybody, hope your all having a wonderful Thursday π The time has come to introduce this beautiful boy! His name is Odin and he is our 10 month old Red Argentinian Tegu. We picked the little guy up in September last year and he has won our hearts everyday since π The things he like to do include, digging, digging, more digging and after that a little bit more digging π Oh and sleeping π΄ he sleeps pretty much all day at the moment and only coming out to bask under his heat momentarily βοΈ His favourite foods are locusts π¦ and eggs π₯ among many others π He is an inquisitive creature who likes sitting on peoples heads, and exploring wherever he is! We cannot wait for his brumation (hibernation for reptiles) to be over or for him to be fully grown. He's going to be a stunner π Keep an eye out for updates and cute pictures as he grows #CURIOUSCREATURES #argentinianredtegu #tegu #redtegu #tupinambisrufescens #reptilelife #reptilesofinstagram #reptiles #happyplace #reptilesarelove #handsomeboy #digging
