I can’t promise you won’t ever know I’m there when I photograph your wedding. When I first started out I used to think that the goal was to go unnoticed all day, to shoot from a distance and hide as much as possible. A fly on the wall. But it never worked like that for me. There’s always someone who clocks that you’re there because it’s not humanly possible to be silent or invisible. Does anyone even like flies, anyway? Being photographed is something that most people aren’t comfortable with to some degree, but I find that people tend to feel easier with it if they know the person behind the camera isn’t a threat and it’s hard to convey that if I’m creeping around from afar. It’s far better if I’m in amongst everyone, if I talk to people when everyone is mingling so they know there’s an actual person behind the camera who is simply rooting for the day to be the best that it can be for everyone there.

The more comfortable people feel, the more likely they are to then forget that they’re being photographed. It makes for a better experience and better photos that feel more immersive when you look back on them.

It’s not that I want to get in the way and there are of course times when I stay out of the way because I don’t want to be a distraction… like the ceremony… except when I am trying to quietly move around and the lovely helpful registrar suddenly turns to me to ask if I am in the right spot for the ring exchange and it catches me off guard and I end up looking like a right goofball and very nearly knocking over a great big vase as I silently curse the fact that I am not invisible after all. 🫣

Super excited to say that this photo from Hannah and Carlos’ wedding ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in May has won a award! With over 11,000 photos entered by photographers around the world and 81 images in this collection I’m so chuffed to bits.

To explain the shot a bit more - I love a bit of symmetry and this was just one of those shots that felt like a bit of a gift in the moment if I could just get the angle of right. The way they held each other, the wood panels and the hands of Hannah’s mum in one corner of the panels and Carlos’ dad in the other. It feels balanced. To me it shows them lost in a brilliant moment, the black and white removes the distraction of colour, the negative space isolates them so that they are the main feature of the image, but the hands are a reminder of the love and support they have in their lives that’s brought them where they are.

Anyway I’ve no idea if explaining shots is remotely interesting to people - so apologies for the waffling if not! If it is by some chance let me know and I’ll do some more when wedding season settles down.

Did someone order a confetti tornado? 🤩🤩🤩

Claire and Chris finally tied the knot at last month and holy moly what a day it was! The wind whipped up all the confetti just as we were getting ready to take a big group photo and it was actual magic. We were all so glad that after postponing, they finally managed to get to party hard!

After so long waiting and having to postpone, Rachel and James FINALLY got married at followed by a great big proper party (fit to celebrate the greatest love story of our generation) at their local

I’m been so excited to shoot a wedding at and oh boy I am totally in love with the place. Utterly gorgeous, lovely staff and just down the road? That’s the dream!

It also helps that Katy and Oliver threw one heck of a party, which was just an absolute joy for everyone there. They put so much thought into making it special for their friends and family and it paid off big time. Hats off to for turning what is usually the lull at a wedding into a raucous singalong that’s up there with the best things I’ve ever seen at a wedding.

When you’re on the other side of the world but you still get to be on the top table for the speeches via the magic of technology. 💻 🪄

I bang on about this a lot but timeless is the last things weddings are. There’s always stuff that gives wider context to what our world was like and could tell someone twenty years from now a little bit about it. Whether it’s the hairstyles, the clothes or the sibling appearing via video call on the laptop from the other side of the world. Embrace it, it’s all part of the story. 💖

Engagement shoots are inherently a bit awkward. There, I said it. It’s so different to a wedding day when you’re in your best clothes having an awesome time with your favourite people. On an engagement shoot you’re going in cold and it’s just the three of us with no exciting distractions. But, with a little time and a lot of me saying ridiculous things I promise it gets less and less awkward as we go along. Once we’re done, if you can go from hating having your photos taken to having even a smidgen of fun with it… then the day itself? It’ll be a piece of (wedding) cake. Hey, I just met you and this is crazy but I will be your photographer today! Yesterday, I threw some clothes on and legged it out of the house to cover Bish and Mimi’s wedding ceremony in Sheffield, after their photographer was unable to be there at the last minute. I have never been less prepared for a wedding, but I loved every minute. I’m not saying I want to do a mystery dash to a neighbouring county just in the nick of time for every booking. But maybe I would if they were all like this one 💖

One of my goals for 2022 was to win a award and I’ve only gone and won TWO in their latest collection. With 13,000 images submitted I am so utterly chuffed for two of my favourite ever images to be included.

First up is a shot that was half careful composition and half pure luck from Shelley and Adam’s wedding in Glasgow. I loved the way that the guests were hanging out during some downtime and then the kid threw that plane, it caught the air and it brought it all together.
The second shot is Laura cleaning her *very* muddy heels in the sinks at her venue and laughing her head off - she was so relaxed about everything and full of joy.

Right, that’s enough tooting my own horn for one day… I’ve got to get thinking of a new goal to put on my list.

For once the sun did this on a day when I was at a wedding! Often the most glorious golden sunsets seem to be reserved for days when I’m home alone or sat on a train with filthy windows. But not this time! Rebecca and Ben’s day took a long time to come, but when it finally did they lucked out big time with the weather up at Also, if you’re a fan of dresses with pockets (who isn’t?) make sure you swipe all the way to the end! Props to for the gorgeous frock.

Hello! They say you should reintroduce yourself on your grid every now and then so here I am. I’m a wedding photographer and filmmaker. My style is relaxed, informal and warm. I live in Derby but I come from Dover originally and my accent can never make up its mind about where its alliegances lie. I like proper ale, Brie you have to eat with a spoon and all the breakfast food. I love watching Parks and Rec, Schitt’s Creek, Star Trek, Succession, Drag Race and that clip of Ainslie Harriot going “WHY HELLO JILL” on This Morning. I’m married to Dave, who I met in Las Vegas when I accidentally catfished him with cheese puns on my friend’s tinder account. I have three kids, two rabbits and a blind cat. I sing barbershop💈 ran a cracking stand up comedy night pre-2020 and am guaranteed to dance if You Can Call Me Al comes on. Oh and I absolutely love my job.
