Next week, I will be baking and posting some of my legendary brownies. They will be freezable, so you can grab them early.

I'm doing a big old yummy mash up of festiveness, and each brownie will be stuffed with mini doughnuts, marshmallows, cinnamon sugar, toasted hazelnuts and topped with chocolate sprinkles 🎄🎄

I got home from curry club and found my delivery waiting for me. So I made dolmade with preserved lemon, fennel and oregano. Baked chicken with rose harissa, rose water and olive oil. Alepo pepper on everything 😁

Cornwall's ???!!

A group of Cornish wedding suppliers met at Gwithian Beach earlier today to bring attention to the lack of clarity the wedding industry is still facing. In huge letters, they wrote 'Boris, ?? into the sand. Particularly poignant with the sandy shores of St.Ives and Carbis Bay in the far distance, where Boris Johnson currently resides and the G7 meeting is taking place.

The final stage for reopening weddings should be taking place on the 21st of June but as yet the industry is yet to receive confirmation, clarification and guidance on whether it will actually do so.

As Marie Leggo from Eeek Weddings explained - "Wedding businesses are nervous about the future. It's an industry that needs a clear plan. The many businesses within this sector cannot reopen with a day's notice; it's all about the planning. Couples plan their day two years in advance, and with further uncertainty ahead, many couples have been left with no choice but to postpone their big day yet again. The wedding industry is on the brink of collapse if restrictions are not eased later this month."

Local caterer Sarah Talbot of Miss Tea's Catering added - "Most wedding businesses bookings are based on numbers, they may have taken bookings over 2 years ago for 120 and now find themselves only cooking for 30. This means that in many cases businesses are having to give money back, rather than a bill for the remaining balance. Without targeted financial help or government-backed insurance schemes to help suppliers and their client's, wedding businesses are unsustainable."

Hazel Parsons, Wedding Coordinator at Out Of The Ordinary Weddings said - "For the last 16 months, the industry has for the most part been closed and as we get closer to the June 21st date, we seem no further forward with a definite schedule for re-opening with larger numbers. We are still awaiting guidance for our weddings taking place after the 21st of June, meaning that businesses are having to invest in stock, staff and resources that may or may not be needed and couples are unsure of what will actually be allowed. It's a mess, people are scared to spend."

Local wedding celebrant Nicola from The Cornish Celebrants went on to say - “Most couples start planning their wedding celebrations about 2 years in advance. We currently have some very nervous brides and groom who are getting very anxious about their dates this summer. Most of us in the wedding industry have been working very hard to find new dates for couples and trying to offer reassurance to them that they will have their day in some form, whilst struggling ourselves to pay our bills. A clear roadmap is so important to give couples hope and to allow businesses to plan for the future and get back some financial security.”

Verity Westcott from Verity Westcott Photography explained how she feels about the current situation - “I feel for the couples. Not knowing how many guests can come to your day. The uncertainty of your guest list. The frustrations in seeing people mingling at larger social occasions such as football matches, yet weddings above a certain number are still not allowed.”

Wedding businesses need clarity and they need it now before another summer's worth of bookings is lost.
