FLAT LAY TOP TIPS

Love a flat lay? Know you want some sexy shots of all your gorgeous details? Here’s a few tips:

1. Tell your photographer. Make sure your photographer is aware that you want a flat lay and details shots so they can plan their time accordingly.

2. Keep a spare invitation set to give to your photographer. Your photographer can’t work miracles so if you want pics of your sexy stationery then make sure you’ve got a complete set put aside ready for your tog.

3. Get all your accessories together. Shoes, bag, perfume, jewellery…get any accessories that you want pictured and put them together somewhere with your stationery set.

4. Get some props ready. This doesn’t have to be complicated but some silk ribbon, a nice ring box, a couple of fresh flowers etc can really elevate a flat lay. Have a look on Pinterest for ideas and prep any props ahead of time. It’s not your photographers job to bring flat lay props with them so if all you’ve given them is half an invite set and a pair of shoes don’t expect your images to look like an editorial flat lay!

Drop a ♥️ in the comments if you love a flat lay as much as me!

This post is for every woman who has ever been called a “bridezilla” for daring to ask for exactly what she wants.

I’m not saying getting married is an excuse to be rude, but in my experience, 99% of the time when women are called a bridezilla they are actually just asking for what they want and refusing to be pushed around.

Well, I’m a wedding planner and I LOVE when my clients come to me with a firm idea of what they want. You’re getting married and probably spending a lot of money so you have every right to expect your suppliers to do what you’ve asked them to do.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

Ever wondered what the difference is between a wedding planner, a coordinator and a stylist?

Sometimes these terms get used interchangeably but they are distinct roles so have a swipe to find out exactly what each one does and whether you should consider booking them for your wedding!

Some people (like me) offer planning, styling and coordinating services so I guess I’m actually partially to blame for the confusion 😂

Should you hire any/all of these people? Depends on what you want for your wedding and what you feel confident doing yourself!

🪩 A full service wedding planner will do all the legwork, admin, supplier sourcing, supplier management etc for you, so if you’re either incredibly time poor or just really hate that kind of thing then consider a full service planner but be prepared to pay for it - because there are so many hours of work involved full service wedding planning comes with a big price tag.

🪩 A wedding coordinator is INCREDIBLY valuable to couples planning a diy/dry hire/marquee wedding. So if you’re holding your wedding at your parents house or at a venue that doesn’t include a venue coordinator, then I’d strongly recommend you consider booking an on the day coordinator to make sure your plans are executed perfectly. Most coordinators (like me) will start working with you 4-6 weeks before your wedding so we are able to get to know your plans, finalise all the details with your suppliers, and take the pressure off you in the run up to your big day. And then on the day we are obviously there to make sure everything goes perfectly so you can have a frickin great time.

🪩 A wedding stylist is for you if the look and style of your wedding is super important to you. A stylist will help tease out your vision, create a cohesive design brief, and source suppliers, props and decor that deliver on your vision. They won’t get involved in planning or coordinating (although some stylists, like me, offer packages that include styling and coordinating) but they will be there to set up and style the hell out of your venue.

If you think I’m the planner/coordinator/stylist for you then pop me a message ♥️

5 Things I’m Excited To See More Of In 2023

I wouldn’t call these trend predictions, but I AM looking forward to seeing these things become more widespread this year!

70s STYLE CAKES - these are all over my Pinterest and Instagram and honestly I am so here for it. All the 70s cakes please!

DISCO BALLS - These are just so much fun and add a playfulness to any design. LOVE

MONOTYPE BOUQUETS - one of my uber stylish brides had these for her wedding last summer and I fell in love with the idea immediately. So simple yet so sophisticated. Just do it!

RETRO GLASS CANDLE HOLDERS - When I sourced these for my own wedding back in 2021 they were really hard to find but I’ve been seeing them everywhere recently (including Matalan!) so I feel like that makes me a trendsetter? 😉

COLOURFUL MINIMALISM - I LOVE colour but I’m also a minimalist at heart so I adore when colour is used in a pared back yet impactful way.

I’d love to know what you’re looking forward to seeing more of this year! Let me know 👇🏼

Let’s chat about wedding design! Or more accurately, places to look for inspiration.

On the one hand I guess it’s never been easier to find inspiration, there are countless wedding blogs, Instagram is full of weddings both real and faked, and then of course there is Pinterest. But I sometimes think there is SO much content that it’s actually quite overwhelming for couples.

If you’re feeling that way, then this post is for you! I want you to get off Pinterest and Instagram for a hot minute and look for inspiration off line.

How did you decide on a design concept for your wedding? Or are you thinking that I’ve just overcomplicated the whole thing 😂 let me know below 👇🏼

Wedding ceremonies. The most underrated part of a wedding day imo.

Yeah, I know we’ve all been to wedding ceremonies that felt dry and perfunctory, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Your ceremony can be the highlight of your wedding day if you give it the care and attention it deserves. Honestly, it was the highlight of mine, and my biggest wedding regret is not hiring a celebrant to do a second ceremony at our postponed wedding party (we had a micro wedding during the pandemic).

Your ceremony is the heart of your wedding so don’t let it become and afterthought ♥️

Can we please just stop with the ‘your wedding day should be the best day of your life’ rhetoric?

I get that it’s an effective sales tactic but it’s doing couples a huge disservice.

Your wedding day should be joy-filled and wonderful and a celebration but it’s actually rather depressing to think of it as the pinnacle of your whole life.

You will have LOTS of best days and your wedding day doesn’t have to be Pinterest perfect to be bloomin wonderful ♥️

Ps I’ve got a few dates available for this year so if you do want a no bs planner/coordinator/stylist then hit me up ✌🏼

Wedding budget breakdowns are all over the internet and I often get asked if I have sample budgets by couples.

For some couples, a budget breakdown will be incredibly helpful. If that’s you, I’m so pleased, but this post is not for you. This post is for the couples who have found budget breakdowns confusing and demoralising because they have put their figures in and felt like they have to cut back on areas that are actually important to them. I had a call yesterday with a new client who are still in the process of setting a budget. I actually found myself starting to do the things I discuss in this post and assuming certain things - and I’m a wedding planner who specialises in thinking outside the box!

I’m not against budget spreadsheets (in fact, I love them) but I prefer to work your budget around your priorities and start there so that you get maximum value out of the money you spend.

Regardless of whether your budget is £15k or £50k, there are lots of different ways you can choose to spend it.

What do you think? Did you find budget breakdowns helpful or not?

Fellow Type A brides & grooms, this one is for you!

I’m not saying that any of these things will ruin your wedding, but they could well ruin your wedding photos. If you know these kind of details are a priority for you then I 100% recommend hiring a stylist for your wedding day (it doesn’t even have to be me 😉). Steaming tablecloths alone can take HOURS and you simply can’t be present to check all these tiny details whilst you’re getting ready for your wedding. Hiring a stylist who you trust will save you so much time and stress and guarantee that all these details are executed perfectly.

Big shoutout to for inspiring this post by sharing tip 1 on his stories yesterday.
