Hello everyone. Before we jump back into wedding and party season which seems to start earlier each year we’re at the brilliant tomorrow morning 9 till 12.30. So set the alarm to come and get something for your morning coffee or weekend treat. This week we’ve got luscious vegan chocolate cake, gluten-free almond and clementine cake, baked New York cheesecake, all the brownies, slow-baked nutty granola, quiches galore and tahini white chocolate blondies. What a fun night at to help with their launch night. So many awesome people to celebrate the opening of such a great addition to Tunbridge Wells life. We worked with the lovely Matteo whose team provided food that brought joy all round. The bar was on fire as Dylan wanted to christen the new enterprise with a very warm welcome to everyone. Thanks to my brilliant team.

Dietary requirements: I could literally write a book about this - a long, truthful account of strange requests, preferences and ‘intolerances’. I’m sure I’m with most caterers in that we all desperately want to take care of anyone who suffers allergies or reactions to certain food types or ingredients - it’s not easy for them and they really need to trust their host/caterer. We genuinely want them to have a lovely time and eat well. However, the growing number of ‘preferences’ demands a lot more labour, paperwork and time to get right. We do this with pleasure but find it disheartening when a guest is suddenly ‘flexi’ on the day and wants the menu prepared for everyone else. Having said that we’re enjoying more and more vegan items to our menus and are on occasion offering the vegan version as the main version - hello yummy vegan spinach strudels, pea felafel, carrot cake and brownies - who can tell the difference?!

This little set up was a surprise for the guests - canapés and welcome drinks in a marquee in another area of the garden, then dinner in a secret corner before the evening really got going back at the tent.

So is that really it? The end of summer lunches in the garden? Today’s brief was to do something simple and unfussy for a group of friends marking the passing of a loved one. We have been happily busy again since restrictions were eased but it’s these occasions especially that always make me realise how precious our time is with true friends and family and how necessary it is to close the circle with a special gathering.

There will be so much more this month as May has so much to offer - we’ve added local strawberries, asparagus, veg plants and some bedding. So, come and create your perfect garden with plants for the veg patch and pots from us and beautiful cottage garden plants from Rapkyns Nursery. You can even buy the planters from Madebymike and decorated pots from Birdy. Then put your feet up with a mug of tea and one of our brownies. Only one more sleep until the next fabulous Wadhurst Farmers & Crafters Market. Although for me it’s half a sleep as the morning starts super early to bake off all the quiches and scones. No shortage of chocolate either with chocolate brownies, chocolate granola, chocolate nut bars, chocolate shortbread, chocolate flapjack .... you get the idea?! Also, more gluten, dairy free and vegan options and (dare I say) things without chocolate.

Early Saturday morning baking for orders ..... several clients today will have woken up to warm quiches and bakes on their doorsteps, together with meals and treats for the weekend. It’s the last delivery day until ...... Monday! Not such a long break but who cares as I’m always happy to bake ❤️

Welcome to 2021 - a lovely new beginning for us all with light on the horizon.

After a restful couple of weeks off we are back in the kitchen with energy and fresh ideas.

There will be a little less baking at Wadhurst Farmers & Crafters Market next time to make room for some winter salads and ready to heat up soups. January is an obvious time to ramp up the nutrient intake and make one or two healthy food swaps. With a few tweaks we can all feel stronger and more ready to tackle the year ahead.

Don’t deny yourself the treats but grab a delicious local apple or pear before a chocolate bar and seek better quality ingredients. Most of us have a little more time to to think about our meals and to really take care of ourselves.

With chillier weather predicted here’s a lovely link to a really easy and delicious mulled wine. It’s one of those things that can be your Christmas heaven or hell but done right it’s totally yummy. Then all you need is a snuggly blanket and a good old-fashioned Christmas film to make sure you’re warm and cosy, safely hiding away at home.

Enjoyed a big soup making session in the kitchen this morning to stock up on supplies after the weekend orders. I’ve never been to Georgia but apparently this is a staple for the good folks out that way. It’s a rustic soup choc full of goodness including celeriac, bacon and chestnuts with juniper, bay and nutmeg so it smells divine.
Now for a long walk to blow away the cobwebs and give the stove a rest.

Come and see us for some early festive cheer at Wadhurst Farmers & Crafters Market tomorrow morning. We’ve been busy baking, stirring, simmering and potting up so you don’t have to. We’ve brownies, bakewells and granolas, among other goodies, including the mince pie granola with orange, cranberries, spices and toasted nuts.
Pick up our list for weekly prepped meal deliveries then snuggle up at home with a nice cup of tea and a home-made treat.
