Nature’s Rest welcomed it’s first group under the Nestled in Nature project (North Devon Prostate Cancer Support) yesterday for a walk and talk session - ‘Balshy Chops’ ( the somewhat grumpy resident Roe Buck) put in an appearance but surprisingly (for him anyway) didn’t bounce off barking, they were also really lucky to spot the endangered Marsh Fritillary butterfly too as they took a slow wander round, pleased to say they had an enjoyable day and are looking forward to returning again.

The lovely folk at Endsleigh Garden Centre nr Tavistock gave me this little lemon tree to see if it could be saved (I do like Endsleigh, lovely red brick walls not over commercialised and VERY reasonably priced and always my 'go to' garden centre)..I've repotted it and been feeding it the water from soaked banana skins for the high potassium content..fingers crossed it will pick up

Was lovely to spend some time in the garden today albeit a busy time in the garden, I was working alongside the bees ❤ I think the cute purple daisies have sense though, they shut their petals and go to sleep when the sun goes round. pollinators

Well, this sorting out and selling stuff malarkey isn't going to well 😬

I came across this set in one of my buried boxes covered in cobwebs and yes, another set I want to keep 😀 I feel I owe it to the maker W.A.A & Co to guard it a tad longer, dating from the late 1800's its survived 2 world wars as well a copious amount of moving around too, it's been settled in for some time now, I'm actually going to use this soon ❤

I wonder how many tales and secrets this set could tell and how many tea leaves have been read from the cups? 😍

My boy getting better acquainted with his Alaskan Saw Mill, practice run before he planks up the fallen Aller in the woods for the floor base of the shepherds hut 😀👍 it's being built on a hay trailer so will make it totally moveable....Hopefully, by the time hes got to grips with it he'll be able to make the raised decking and steps needed to conceal the wheels 😀

It was an absolute delight to welcome author and poet Jeremy Bell out to Nature’s Rest yesterday, I met this chap a few weeks ago as we were both guest speakers, I didn’t notice you in the audience on this day (sincere apologies if I missed you) so just thought I’d share this treat of words for you and others to enjoy as it’s so poignant

Having myself a wholesome Halloween ( with a dash of nature and sustainability thrown in the mix) with pumpkin bread, roasted pumpkin & pepper soup with a hint of (my fav) 👍😀 a field of as a screensaver perched on the dining table, some recordings of the owls I made at Natures Rest playing in the background... the saved pumpkin seeds will be dried and used to grow more pumpkins next year (I hope!)

Always read the label - BOTH sides! If you are fortunate enough to find a jar of this red pepper sauce from me in your xmas stocking this year, which is highly unlikely I hasten to add, cos I've just tried it and its 'gert lush' and I'm probably going trough the lot myself! 😀😁👍just sayin....so I guess this post is a bit of a tease really 😁
