The Queens Green Canopy - plant a tree for Jubilee

On 23rd January over 50 adults and children from the local area, groups and schools came along to help plant over 180 trees.

This new woodland will be known as Platinum Wood, and has been created in honour of Her Majesty the Queens 70 years off service. It will form part of a new footpath created by National Trust.

In the coming months we hope to get local groups such as Scouts, Beavers, Brownies etc involved in creating bird boxes and planting woodland flowers.

On the 8th May 2020 we all celebrated VE75 from our gardens, and I'm sure you will agree it was a lovely day. The original plans for this day where put on hold, to be done on 8th May 2021 VE75+1. Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid situation we have decided to cancel this event. Hopefully we can all come together again soon and celebrate other milestones. Stay safe everyone. Look out for each other.

Lest We Forget..... please take 2 minutes at 11am today on your doorstep if possible to remember all those lost to war and all those at war. Teach our children so we always remember. If you would like to leave a poppy or decorated remembrance stone at the village war memorial please do so today or in the coming week. It would be lovely to see it as decorated as possible in remembrance. A wreath will be laid on behalf of the village.

● Display a photo of family that have served or serving there country
● 11am - 2 minute silence across the nation

Andrew will march from Wellington, onto Ellerslie Park, up to Bradbury House Carpark, continue onto Denton Park and go as far as the junction where you turn left on to Denton Park Court, he will then go down Whitecroft (Wasdale side) and back up Whitecroft (Eskdale side) before turning onto Meadowfield and going left, then towards Meadowfield Grove, onto Hallbeck Place, upto the Lion and Lamb, turning and going to the War Memorial where he will lay a wreath in memory of all those sadly lost. The march will take Andrew approximately 45 minutes. Once Andrew has reached the war memorial Jodie McQuisten will play The Last Post. Andrew would love as much support on his march with people clapping, cheering and waving flags. Please come out and find a socially distanced place to stand and support. A quote from Andrew " the front line troops often had very little serviceable equipment, but still put their lives at risk for us. We are seeing this now with the NHS and critical workers. So if we can raise some funds to help keep them safe then we have done what our families did for our heroes in 1945"
