I love this weather. Bright. Blue skies. Still. Cold.
If you look closely there is plenty to appreciate in the garden. Our first winter here, so I’m looking forward to seeing what comes up in the coming months. So far, we have the first signs of plenty of bulbs.

Asking myself whether I will miss making wreaths this year. Well the answer is yes. Despite the cold, gnarled fingers, I do love making them. Since moving I’ve still not sorted out my new space and tbh it’s still full of unopened moving boxes. A broken wrist earlier in the year still gives me problems and now I’ve trapped a nerve in my shoulder (worse than breaking my wrist in my opinion!), I’m pretty much out of action. So this year I’ll grit my teeth and make one foraged wreath for our new front door to share instead. To those of you making wreaths by the dozen this year, I’m very envious despite the inevitable gnarled hands!

Sheep of the day. Morning walk before breakfast is my new routine. Thinking about getting my hands back into some wreath making for Autumn and trying my hand at willow weaving. I need to get my creative juices flowing again.

A little explanation as to why I’ve been so quiet on here. Yesterday we finally moved into our dream home. It was a bit of a stressful move with lots off ups and downs and but it was worth all the stress in the end. Now we are in the north of England I’ve been informed I’d better start pronouncing ‘grass’ instead of ‘grarrrrrs’. One day at a time! This is the husbands view as he washed up 😉🐑🐑

Thinking of my heavenly mum today. Sweetpeas were a favourite of hers, but she was more than a little obsessed with Fuchsias. Her many 1st rosettes now hang in pride of place in my potting shed. For me it is Sweetpeas too. I can’t wait for their scent 💕

A little throwback to last year. It may be cold and frosty this morning but the daffodils are coming through and waiting in the wings. This picture was taken in Cumbria last year which is a beautiful garden to visit if you are up that way.

Good morning! Giving myself a little floral lift this morning by looking back at some of my pictures from last summer. I think Snapdragons are one of my favourite flowers and add a lovely ‘spike’ to a bouquet. They also look great on their own. I sowed some in the Autumn so can’t wait to see them in all their glory later in the year.

2022 was a fresh start for me! Having left my career in primary education, I immersed myself in the garden. Growing a cutting garden with the help of the fabulous , honing my floristry skills , creating farewell flowers, bouquets and wedding flowers, embarking on the RHS Level 2 course , volunteering at and making new like-minded friends. It’s been a year of learning and getting closer to nature. I’ve loved every minute so it was hard to choose my photos!

What’s in store for 2023? More of the same of course, but with a twist 😉

Happy New Year 🌱
