Today marks the first day of previews!

What an amazing 4 months it has been planning and building a semi permanent site for Backyard Cinema in Wandsworth!

Little over a month ago our scope was extended to design and implement a show control system which will link the immersive experience and cinema DCP server to enable an easy and error free way to power up, test, and play the complex experience and cinema systems. We’re happy to report that after the first preview today, the show ran flawlessly!

Now, no time to rest as we’re heading over to Manchester to start the technical install for Backyard Cinemas new second site on Monday!

Mission Success!

One of the biggest hurdles this project has faced so far is a lack of power on site. We have been managing the installation of 2 brand new 200a 3phase supplies.

This required 6 different suppliers / contractors to make this happen. From a ground work company installing ducting and concrete bases, an enclosure supplier, TFL to close a lane in the road, UKPN to install the 200a heads and terminate (live!) from high voltage cables under the path, our electrical supplier to supply and install a meter and finally our site electrical engineer to distribute from these enclosures to the various distros on site.

And there it is. The final structure up, awaiting side walls and a floor!

Now we’re going to go quiet, whilst the creative teams work there magic over the next month and a bit ready to open shortly after!

Starting to take shape now!

Nearly ready to hand the site over to the creative team to start the key design work. Once this happens we might end up going a little quiet on here, as we wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise!

It’s been an amazing first day on site, after a handful
of meetings this morning. Cannot wait to get spades in the ground in 2 weeks time and get this project audience ready by September!

We have been working very hard this week, alongside Kingston Council to ensure International Youth Arts Festival, Kingston is as safe as it can be for all those attending and its participants!
