A very busy week ahead at VRC headquarters. Appointments with couples and at funeral homes. Several private appointments and a very lovely business meeting had today about grief support in Stoke.

Who is my celebrant inspiration.

For me that’s a difficult one to answer because I honestly don’t shape myself on anyone else. I am me and I don’t want to be anyone else.

If I was pushed to make a choice I’d say Glenda Procter because she has carved a unique and beautiful business and helps so many others.

Day 3 of World Celebrants Week

So what does a celebrant do?

Well, there's no end to the things I do actually. The honest and truthful answer is we help to create awesome unique bespoke ceremonies. There really is nothing off the cards (perhaps jumping out of an aeroplane).

For me, when I work with clients, its important to know exactly what they are looking for, encourage them to be themselves, and work together.

Whether it be a wedding, commitment ceremony, funeral, memorial or a naming, the essence is that the ceremony should reflect the people or persons involved.

I get to know many of my clients very well, I ask lots of questions so that they know I've got everything covered and can trust me to get everything right on the day.

My initially chat with people is usually for about 30 mins just so they can get a feel of whether I am the right celebrant for them.

Day 2 of World Celebrant Week

A little about me

I’m 49, but don’t tell the world 🤣

A former nurse of 21yrs

Mum to one teenager and 2 fur babies

Wife

Love the theatre, anything a bit alternative and weird and a good restaurant

Enjoy a party but like to be in bed by 11pm 🤣

I decided to become a celebrant after I had finished home educating my Son. I didn’t want to waste all of the skills I had so started off in the funeral world before booking more and more weddings.

I’m very relaxed but professional with it and I am now taking on more funerals and planning celebration of life events too.

What did you think?
Death is so rarely spoken about but I think that the way we deal with death and grief is changing dramatically.
There are more people choosing a direct cremation and then having a celebration of life for their loved one.

You can choose from several mini ceremonies too such as ring warming, handfasting, and unity candles.

Funerals

Holding a heartfelt an appropriate funeral for your loved one means that you can remember them in a way that they would have liked. Every person is unique and therefore, so is every death. I create funeral ceremonies that are as individual as your loved one. For some, that may be a traditional ceremony, whilst others may prefer a more unconventional approach to reflect their loved one’s personality. Whichever type of ceremony you choose, I will help you to celebrate the life of your loved one with dignity and respect.

Naming ceremonies

Whether you are welcoming a new baby or are celebrating the blending of two families, holding a ceremony to share love and unity is a great way to honor this amazing occasion.

Naming ceremonies provide a fun but respectful way to celebrate the union. They are created to suit a variety of locations, including your own home or garden.
