ANACRUSIS PRESENTS: THE SOCIAL CLUB

The Social Club are an exciting, britpop-inspired, new band who have made a huge impact onto the Manchester scene despite being formed less than 12 months ago.

In their short time together as a band, they have already sold out Lions Den, Headlined Deansgate Mews Festival, and supported Tom A Smith as part of XS Live, with local radio station XS Manchester.

Their debut single 'Rita' gained 6,000+ streams in week 1 of release and was featured as XS Manchester’s Record Of The Week on Jim Salveson’s Evening show.

The song blares with potent zeal, frustration and aggression. It tells the narrative of young love and the complications that may accompany it when, at the end of the day, you know who your heart is set on.

"Olivia" is a heartfelt 60’s-inspired Brit-Pop anthem that captures the essence of unspoken love and the bravery required to take a chance on a new beginning. The song follows the band's protagonist's plea to Olivia, urging her to break free from her relationship. Rooted in the tradition of Brit-Pop, “Olivia” is a sincere exploration of the complexities of love and the hopeful belief that genuine connections are worth the risk.

Drawing inspiration from Fontaine's D.C. and 20th-century poetry (because why settle for just one century?), this Durham-born, Manchester-bred band is your ticket to a sonic rollercoaster of war, love, and politics.

With guitars that could make stone statues dance and lyrics sharper than a poet's pen, Cutscene is the not-so-secret ingredient Manchester's been missing.

In 2023, Cutscene hit Manchester like a musical hurricane – numerous gigs that left venues breathless and fans shouting for more. But hold on because, in 2024, they're set for more gigs and more mischief.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT #2💡| INDOOR SHOES

We'll introduce 🩴 to the ever-growing next Tuesday!

Indoor Shoes consists of, Evan the Shouty Shouty Man, Thomas the Strummy Strummy Man, Ben the Bassy Bassy Man and Sean The Bangy Bangy Man. Indoor Shoes was "the best of a bad bunch of names"; nevertheless, it is now a name that has risen in popularity amongst folk in Liverpool and Manchester after a whirlwind start playing venues such as The Cavern Club, Future Yard, Jimmy's (Liverpool) and the 02 Arts Club.

Forming through dating apps mainly, the lads all have fairly different influences, so their sound is eclectic and non-specific. Still, they're united as a foursome through a mutual adoration of pot noodles. This love has helped the lads play together for over a year, and, in this short time, they have already performed their original tracks at over 40 live shows, appearing both as supports and in headline slots, spanning venues across the Northwest.

THANK YOU FROM US!

A little appreciation post to everyone we have met on this journey so far! Thank you to all the bands, promoters, sound engineers and everyone who bought tickets to one of our events. Special mention to John and Simon for always being voices of advice for us, for being the most reliable person we’ve ever met and being an insane sound engineer and finally to .b.violet for believing in us when others didn’t.Without everyone’s support, we wouldn’t be in this position. Although it looks like we pop a few pictures on social media every now and then with a hint of cringey stories, we work tirelessly to get everything perfect for our bands and our audience. We are just a small team of three people trying to make a massive difference in Manchester, aiming to challenge the standards and practices of today’s “promoters” (I’ve been told I’ll get into trouble if I say any more - Jack) In April, we are attempting to pull off something ridiculous. We’re hosting a multi-venue festival with 16 artists just 12 months after setting up our business. We are all absolutely shattered, but on a personal note from us here at Anacrusis, if you choose to buy a ticket for any of our events or our festival, please know that they come with so much love and appreciation from our little team! Atticast are a four-piece garage indie pop punk (I don't think they could decide) band formed in 2023. All jokes aside, the band create and perform music that exudes technical brilliance. The powerhouse that is Manchester-based female-fronted, ‘SCAPEGRACE’, brings a new wave of alternative rock that is reminiscent of the mid-pre-punk 70s with a rumbling rhythm section and sharp, scratchy guitar lines. Scapegrace is recognised for their exhilarating and highly energetic sets, and if the last time you saw them at our event wasn’t good enough they have since released their first EP “The Archive” 🔥

Notably, supporting Black Grape and The Happy Mondays in 2023, the band were quick to pave their way into an exclusive club. Growing in popularity among curators and promoters alike.

Daisychain are a band that knows how to craft a sound that makes you want to get up and dance. By blending jangly indie pop with touches of contemporary electronic music, they create a fresh and unique sound that's sure to catch the ear of any live music fan.

Childhood friends Lissy Nicholson and Joe Bryan founded the band and their songs explore the ups and downs of relationships, heartbreak, and all the intense emotions that come with being young and feeling like everything is a matter of life and death. With influences like Johnny Marr and John Squire, Lewis Jeffrey's guitar playing is nothing short of mesmerising, and it blends perfectly with the vocals to create something truly special. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT #1💡| ELLIS JOHNSON

We’re thrilled to introduce you to some of the best artists in the northwest at our next event at on Thursday, 18th January.

So, are you ready to meet ?

Ellis Johnson, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, hails from Manchester, the music capital of the UK.

He has performed in several countries across the globe, including Japan, China, Brazil, the USA, and the Middle East.

Ellis got his rock’n’roll induction from his father, whose record collection of classic rock got him playing drums aged 11. A progression of musical influences from grunge to EDM, disco to funk and hip-hop to punk music ensued. Ellis’ fate as a prolific musician was sealed when a raffle ticket bought by his mum at a charity event brought home a mic and guitar.

He performs his acoustic pop-styled music using loop pedals, percussion, guitars, and vocals, taking the term “one-man band” to the next level.

If all that isn’t enough, even the music legend Guy Garvey from has complimented him, saying Ellis has a “Cracking set of pipes.”
