Our Lake of Lights event is back this December 🕯️

Join us on Sunday, 14 December at Canoe Lake, Southsea, and watch as our community, volunteers, and families, come together to light a candle in loving memory of those who are no longer with us.

If you are planning on lighting a candle in memory, you can now order them in advance. When you arrive at the event, you will simply need to head to the Collection Tent and collect your candles ready to place on the lake.

This occasion is open to all, with snacks and refreshments available to purchase on the night from Canoe Lake Café.

Find out more about the event and order your candles in advance, visit our website here - https://buff.ly/iUsb1ly

Great news :-)

The UK Government has announced that it will finally legally recognise humanist marriages in England and Wales, but only as part of wider marriage reform on which it has announced further consultation. After 12 years of humanist marriages being under review, Humanists UK has welcomed the Government....

Great news

We are happy to announce we have received news of an increase in the statutory funding we receive from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB).

From April 2025 funding will increase from 10% to 22% of the Hospice’s £10 million running costs, as recognition of the vital part the Hospice plays in the local healthcare system.

Iain Cameron, Rowans Hospice’s Chief Executive says “The news is undoubtedly most welcome and positive, but it is important to stress that we continue to rely on our community for 78% of our running costs so ask that our supporters continue to support in the same way they have done for over thirty years. The funding does, however, mean that we have the stability and certainty to plan our services for generations to come.”

We welcomed Suella Braverman, MP for Fareham and Waterlooville, to the Hospice following this news and the role she played in supporting this increase, she said: "This is a huge win for our community and a cause that is very close to my heart. Rowans has provided exceptional care to countless families over the three decades..."

As well as supporting the in memory of Heloise Bessey, I will be undertaking the Jurassic Ultra 100km challenge motivated by having witnessed first hand at the difficulties faced by those with MND, an incredible cruel disease for those living with it, and those who journey alongside.
I’ll be completing the walk over 2 days (36 miles / 58km on day 1 and 26 miles / 42km on day 2 …or as far as I can stagger!), which for someone who’s spent a lot of time at the physio / undergoing rehab in the last 18 months will feel like much more than a bit of a bimble.
I’ll be boring people with my training progress over the coming weeks - please feel free to unfollow me… but only once you’ve made a donation 😉. Please give what you can for this most worthy cause. Justgiving.com/page/west-hill-park-jurassic

What a privilege it has been to be part of this amazing charity’s 30 years 💚

Today we are celebrating a special day: On 25 October 1994, after ten years of incredible fundraising, Rowans Hospice opened its doors to welcome its first patients.

This winter, we invite you to join us for a series of events which promise to offer moments of warmth and compassion, unforgettable memories and new opportunities – all while raising vital funds for Rowans. Some of our event highlights include:
