‘Prof Ewer argued that examining babies after birth without using pulse oximetry was not identifying almost half of babies before they collapse. Nearly a third are sent home without their heart condition being detected.’

The statistics in this article genuinely break my heart. Such a simple, non-invasive test has such a massive impact on the amount of babies that have their heart conditions identified at birth. It blows my mind that something like this is not mandatory across all hospitals like it is in USA.

Phoebe’s heart condition was not identified throughout all of my additional scans or at birth. If we hadn’t found out when she was 4 weeks old that she had holes in her heart, it breaks me to think of what could have happened at 2.5 months old when her heart started to fail. They wouldn’t have admitted her to hospital and kept such a close eye on her because there would have been no cardiac conditions to be concerned about.

I know that I have banged on about it for long enough now, but everything in this article makes me feel so proud that and I were able to work with to provide these machines to Lincoln County Hospital. If the government won’t provide machines that can save a babies life, we will do it ourselves! 🤍🌹 - Hannah

We just want to give a special mention to the parents of the children who provided and trusted us with their heartfelt stories, as part of our table numbers. 🤍

Although The Rose Charity Ball was inspired by our own little heart hero, Phoebe. We wanted to raise awareness for congenital heart disease as much as possible and give other families the chance to tell their stories too.

We decided to name all of our 25 tables after a different child, and on the back of the table number there was each child’s story and picture. 🥰

ELEVEN THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED & EIGHTEEN POUNDS & TWENTY ONE PENCE! 😱😱

That is the total amount raised from our Rose Charity Ball on 17th February 2024!!! 🤯 We are absolutely mind blown!!

We honestly can’t thank everyone enough who made the night what it was, we are still over the moon about how the night went but never in a million years did we expect to raise such an incredible amount for ! That amount of money will go so far to help so many babies and families who are affected by congenital heart disease. ❤️

We CANNOT believe we are saying this, but we have raised over £10,000 so far!!!! TEN THOUSAND BRITISH POUNDS!!!!! 😱😱😱

We are yet to confirm the final amount from the Text to Donate which we should hopefully find out next week, but we wanted to let you all know as we are over the moon!! WHAT A NIGHT!!! 🤩😱 We did it!! We managed to pull off an incredible charity ball! 😍 A huge thank you to everyone that got dressed up and came out to support us, we hope you had the best time! 🥂

We would like to give a special mention to all our entertainment last night! Firstly, for their beautiful choir performance during our welcome drinks 🎭, secondly who blew our minds with his magic ✨, and finally who got everyone engaged, dancing on their chairs and doing the biggest conga we have ever seen! 💃🏼

This incredible, strong, brave little girl is who inspired The Rose Charity Ball. 🌹 She has gone from strength to strength since first being admitted to hospital at 2.5 months old, and against all odds has managed to avoid open heart surgery! Thank you Phoebe for being a fighter and being such an inspiration! ❤️

• The Rose Charity Ball was organised for February to coincide with not only the month of love, but also !
• The Rose Charity Ball got its name inspired by Phoebe and her birth month flower- the rose!🌹
