“Celebrants are the biggest trend for couples getting married!” It’s about time we update the marriage laws! Siobhan Baillie and other MPs speaking out in the House of Commons supporting the long overdue wedding law reform.
The current law on weddings is outdated with needless restrictions and outdated regulations meaning that couples are denied having a wedding that is meaningful to them.
The Law Commission outlined recommendations to reform wedding law, to allow couples much more freedom to decide how and where they tie the knot. Independent Celebrants would be able to conduct a civil wedding ceremony without the additional need for couples to legalise their marriage at a register office. This would also enable weddings to take place at a much greater variety of venues than is currently permitted.
