This is real art, by a master of the craft. We can learn much about life from the wisdom of old.

There is no rope in this image. This is carved from a single block of marble.

The artist dedicated 7 years of his life to sculpt.

It's called "The Release from Deception", by Italian sculptor Francesco Queirolo in 1759.

Possibly the greatest test of patience in the history of art - and not a single wrong step made in the marble.

I was a comic book collector when I was a kid. Found some 30yr old drawings I done when I was maybe 13-14 yrs old. Yay to clearouts! Took me back.

Grendel was my favourite comic character. Along with Lobo. I also done a sketch of Jack from The Shining.

Full radial Rainbow over Stonehenge yesterday 🌈⭕️😍

With showers due throughout late afternoon i had to go and spend a few hours rainbow chasing and was met with one after just 10 minutes, this was the second one an hour later and had to capture it with 6 images from 3 rows and 2 columns 🤩

Portland Bill Lighthouse under the stars

A location I'd long wanted to try for some astro! It's a good challenge to get everything exposed nicely for this image; the lighthouse lights come on 4 times over a period of 10 seconds, then they are off for 10 seconds, so I timed my images carefully to get frames both with and without the lights so I could blend them.
Then I combined with tracked sky frames taken from the other side of the lighthouse to give the sky a lot more signal.

Superb location!

Glencoe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❄️

Sunrise over Glencoe

HD 360 of a lovely sunrise over the Buachaille Etive Mor and Glencoe area of the Scottish Highlands.

This came up on my facebook memory from 3 years ago when I headed up to Glen Coe to try and capture a photo I'd had in mind and been chasing that entire winter season. the weather was showing everything I was looking for, low to zero winds, clear skies, fresh snow. everything read as perfect so I grabbed a few hours sleep on Thursday evening and headed up to the Glencoe area at 2am arriving around 5am in the hope of climbing up Beinn A'Churlaiste in time for sunrise. fortunately my timing was perfect and I got up to the summit about 30 minutes before the sun came up, but unfortunately the cloud never fully cleared till about 2 hours later than predicted so I never got the shot I had in mind once again, but this did mean we got some amazing light as the sun came up.

I finish up this week for Christmas so will have almost a month this year to head out and try and capture some nice winter photos and hopefully finally get the shot I was chasing all those years ago. so fingers crossed for some nice calm wintery days on the hills this year.🤞🤞🙂

This is a 360 photo made up of 28 x 15mm wide shots stitched together to create a high resolution 360 panorama. you can pinch to zoom in/out to look about the Glencoe area from this amazing vantage point. and if you feel like doing so feel free to share. 🙂

Taken with a Nikon D750 and Irix Lens 15mm firefly mounted on a rock solid Benro MACH3 TMA38CL with G3 Ball Head.

Explanation: It was Halloween and the sky looked like a creature. Exactly which creature, the astrophotographer was unsure (but possibly you can suggest one). Exactly what caused this eerie apparition in 2013 was sure: one of the best auroral displays that year. This spectacular aurora had an unusually high degree of detail. Pictured here, the vivid green and purple auroral colors are caused by high atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen reacting to a burst of incoming electrons. Birch trees in Tromsø, Norway formed an also eerie foreground. Frequently, new photogenic auroras accompany new geomagnetic storms.
