A quick message from Hull New Theatre regarding food and drink.

The kitchen will be open 11.30am-6.30pm but during some intervals, the wait for food may be longer than usual. If you would like to preorder for a specific time, a table can be reserved in the lounge bar and your food will be ready. This would be strongly recommended. You can order and pay at the bar at any point during the day and the bar will be open from 10.30am.

Introducing Sammy Murray!

Sammy is a choreographer and movement director working in film and
television.
Screen work includes:
SAS Rogue Heroes Series 2 BBC, The Forsyte Saga Mammoth,
Buccanneers Apple TV, A Gentleman In Moscow Paramount,
The Winter King Bad Wolf, The Full Monty TV series Disney,
Bodies Netflix, Killing Eve BBC, It’s A Sin Red Productions,
Sanditon Red Planet/ ITV, Gentleman Jack BBC, Britannia Amazon,
The Irregulars Netflix, Pennyworth Warner Bros, Victoria ITV,
Witness For The Prosecution ITV, Granchester Kudos/ ITV,
A Discovery Of Witches Bad Wolf/ Sky, The Outlaws Amazon,
Tubby and Enid BBC, Eric and Ernie BBC, Ballet Shoes BBC and many
more.
Training began at Cynthia Carr’s school in Leeds then onto the Royal Ballet
School, Bush Davies and Guildhall School of Drama.
Sammy learnt her craft professionally performing from the age of 17 in
London’s West End in musicals such as 42nd Street, Me and My Girl,
Beauty and The Beast, West Side Story,Carousel, My Fair Lady, Seven
Brides For Seven Brothers, Singing In The Rain, Some Like it Hot, Sweet
Charity, Tonight’s the Night.
During this time her career also started a new journey progressing to
dance captain, assistant choreographer, resident director and finally
assistant director to Victoria Wood on the national tour of ‘ Acorn
Antiques’ and ‘That Day We Sang.’
Victoria gave Sammy her first television choreographic role in Ballet Shoes
for the BBC with Emma Watson in the lead and since then she has worked
with leading artists from across the globe including Daniel Ratciffe, Imelda
Staunton, Michael Ball, Gemma Artherton, Christopher Walken, Rod
Stewart, John Hamm, Rufus Sewell, Jenna Coleman, Olly Alexander, Sofia
Boutella, Leo Suter, Jack Fox, Francesca Annis , Tuppence Middleton,
Suranne Jones, Roger Allam.

Aside from her choreographic career Sammy teaches her own workshop
to students on the difference between dance on stage and screen, from
breaking down a script to TV productions requirements, rehearsals and
expectations when filming onset for very long days.

Next on the panel of judges for the Euphoria Grand Final, we have the fabulous Carrie Ellis!

CARRIE ELLIS, BA (Hons) FIDTA (Dist.) LIDTA, Cert.Ed., Dip Arts Ed, SAC Dip. Examiner and Adjudicator.
Formerly trained by her Mother Noeleen Ellis-Balshaw at the Carlotta School Blackburn Lancashire, Carrie was tutored in ISTD and BBO to Advanced level. Competing in dance Festivals till was 16.
She then went on to finish her training at Arts Educational School London on the Musical Theatre course. Also gaining a BA(Hons) degree in Theatre Studies through Rose Bruford College London. With further studies in singing through teacher, Alison Sutton.
Having had more than 38 years of a career performing in London’s West End, National UK Tours, Repertory Theatre, Television, Radio, Concerts and Films. Carrie has always taught and choreographed in conjunction with her career.
Some of her favourite professional roles include Velma Kelly, ‘Chicago’, Carlotta, ‘Phantom of the Opera’ Peaches/Baby Jane, ’Jerry Springer the Opera’, Jellylorum & Grizabella, ’Cats’, Lady Jacqueline, ‘Me and My Girl’, Golde, ‘Fiddler on The Roof’, Lesley Pynchon, ‘The Fix’, Ida, ’Honk’, Consuela, ‘West Side Story’, Val, ‘Chorus Line’, Lianne Dexhleman’s, ‘Gigi’, Mavis, ‘Stepping Out’, Mrs. Molloy, ’The Matchmaker’. As well as numerous pantomimes including playing principal boys, baddies, and fairies. Carrie has also been lucky enough to perform in concerts in Britain, Europe and onboard the QE2.
TV works includes: ‘Cutting It’,’ Highly Sprung’ ‘Tonight at 8.30’ ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Jerry Springer the Opera’.
On Radio: Lead roles in ‘Chorus Line’ ‘Follies’ ‘Sweet Charity’ and ‘Take It up the Octave’.
She has worked at colleges such as, The Hammond, (MT tutor) Northern Ballet School, (MT tutor) LCPA (head of drama), LTS, (audition technique and MT tutor) Shockout Arts (head of musical theatre), Moorlands School (head of drama), Theatre Works (head of drama and MT tutor) and Arts Educational. (Audition technique) In addition Carrie is also busy in her role as a Federation, All England, TDCI Championship, Miss Dance Adjudicator and DWC judge. Carrie is privileged to be one of the first judges for The Dance School Awards 2024. And is also an examiner for The Dang Musical Theatre and Dance Syllabus.

Carrie continues to pass on her passion and knowledge for performing to her students. Focusing most of her time choreographing competition work, master classes, audition technique, drama, and musical theatre, choreographing and directing shows in various colleges all over the country.

Introducing our first judge on the panel for the Euphoria Groups & Troupes Grand Final 2025! Emma Appleyard.

My name is Emma-Jayne Appleyard, and I am a professional performer and educator with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I have had the privilege of performing in leading roles in numerous West End and touring musicals, and for the past 11 years, I have been teaching and working in the United States. Recently, I have returned to my home in Yorkshire, and I am eager to continue contributing to the dance community here.

I used to compete in many Northern dance festivals during my training and fully appreciate everything that goes into each performance from both the dancers and their teachers.

Musical theatre performance coach and choreographer, specialising in preparing pre-professional
performers with the inside knowledge of how to audition and book work. Over 20 years performing

experience appearing in musicals in the Westend and worldwide.

Thank you to everyone that attended workshop today! We have had a brilliant time with you all ❤️ 12 hours of Jon today and the energy never dropped once!! Thank you for driving all the way from London this morning and all the way back tonight to be with us for the day in Hull. Legend!! Well done everyone! Next weekends workshop leaders & are coming all the way from Australia to join us! We hope to see you all there next weekend but if you can't make it then we wish you a very Merry Christmas and we will see you in the new year 🎅🏼
