We've been enjoying the scent of sweet peas as we shelter from the rain this week. Our autumn sown crop in the tunnel provides the first flush and is a godsend whilst we have this wet weather but our January sown plants are outside and have just started to get going. They have much stronger stems and are invaluable for stretching out the sweet pea season.
We're looking forward to heading back to this week. Always one of our favourite venues as it provides so many options so that couples can create what they want with the space, unique to their day.

Repurposing your ceremony flowers. Our meadow pew ends are one of our most popular arrangements and which can be relatively easy to move. Use them to create a mantle, a meadow to decorate your table plan or cake.
Lots of trees heading out this weekend. An affordable way of adding instant impact to a marquee and they can completely transform a space.

It's British Flower Week this week, 3rd-9th June and it's a time to celebrate all that's great about British flowers. It's a week of focusing on the importance of using British grown flowers and educating ourselves about what is seasonal and just how beautiful they can be.
For anyone that's interested in finding out more then do go and check out a fantastic collective of growers across the UK.

The plot is really starting to get going as the perennials fill out and the overwintered annuals which survived (not that many due to the conditions we had) get going.

And just like that the fritillaria are over. Our early spring flowers are fading and the ranunculus are just getting into their stride.
Despite it feeling like spring has been a long time coming with the never ending rain, the flowers are telling us otherwise. The tulips and narcissi have been weeks ahead of last year and we've picked the last of the tulips and narcissi for 2024. Planning on increasing our varieties for next year.

We've been harvesting more blossom for a funeral this week. Such a fleeting crop and gale force winds don't help but we enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Almost time to start potting up our new dahlia tubers - we've just heard our order from will soon be on it's way . All fingers and toes crossed the ones in the ground will survive but the ground is still so waterlogged we're not holding our breath. Buying in some new tubers each year allows us to fill in any gaps in the spring and the fine tune our
Please can we have more of this spring colour palette? The soft tones of hellebores and tulips held in a framework of amelanchier and spirea; another creation from our day spent with back in 2021.
From small table centres to more large spring urns. These can make a great statement piece to fill a country house or mark the entrance of a marquee. Branches of blossom, spirea and viburnum framing tulips, ranunculus and narcissi for last year.
We haven't had much luck with growing hellebores on our plot so we're slowly adding to our collections at home. Looking back at the photos from our day with keeps sending us back to the garden centres for more.
