The FFF team might have got their dates muddled and find themselves unable to make it to DimpseyFest this year but that doesn’t mean that you need to miss out! The camping field may be full for the September successor to Field Frolics in Somerset but limited day tickets are still available with a great lineup whichever day you choose.

FFF Promotions is closing down.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered with us, played for us, supplied us or given us their custom - you’ve made the last 5 years spectacular!

Don’t forget to head over to DimpseyFest’s page - tickets for next September are on sale now and the lineup is shaping up nicely!

Now that admin has had a nap or five he’s ready to come and say a big thank you to everyone who came along to Field Frolics 2023 and made it such a huge success.

We hope you’ll agree that our amazing lineup of The Leylines, Mr Tea and the Minions, The Sweetchunks Band, Tim & Athene from 3 Daft Monkeys, Brian Stone & The Masters Of None, Lonely Tourist, The Kahunas, Nasty Fishmonger, B-Sydes, Warren Ireland, Ruby Kelly and LunaBarge (and also FMI Clatters who was ever so good at not organising any secret gigs) all put on an amazing show, that Josh and Ben from BH Sound & Lighting Hire did a fantastic job on tech, that Keren and her fabulous team from Events Horizon did an awesome job as ever in the kitchen and behind the bar, and that our small but merry band of volunteers did a brilliant job of keeping the place clean, tidy and functioning, special mentions here go to Tom who was an absolute trooper for - amongst many, many other tasks - squeezing more vehicles than expected into a smaller space than planned and to Jules for pulling a marathon shift on the gate on Friday.

We announced a while back that this would be our last event in Somerset and we are pleased to announce and support DimpseyFest who will be coming in to fill the village hall shaped hole in your festival calendar next September. We’ll be there as punters and we’d love to party it up with you all free of our organisational stresses when it comes around.

Speaking of organisational stresses I pretty much forgot to take any pictures so here, genuinely, is every picture I took at the last ever Field Frolics. We know you’ll all have been busy snapping away so we’d love to see the one favourite photo that you took this weekend in the comments.

Thanks a million to everyone who has supported me (Jackson) and FFF Promotions since our first proper gig in 2018 it really has been a whirlwind of a hobby that got way out of control! Special thanks to my immensely patient wife and Enabler In Chief, Kelly. I’ll see you in a field sometime. Cheers 🍻

Morning campers! We hope you’ve all had a fantastic weekend.

Some parish notices for this morning:

🍽️ Breakfast will be served until 10.30 this morning.
🦺 The stairs between the hall and the campsite are out of use for safety - please use the main track.
🕛 Please be offsite by midday.
🚮 If you’re able to take your own rubbish home with you that would be a huge help, otherwise please ensure all food waste is bagged separately as it has been down at the hall.
🆓 There’s leftover supplies in the hall - help yourselves!

Would it even be Field Frolics if there wasn’t a last minute hiccup?

Overnight road closures of the A303 may affect access to the site after 8pm tomorrow. Please plan your route accordingly if you will be arriving to or leaving the festival late tomorrow. Access will still be available but it may not be possible to approach or leave via the A303.

Gates open for Field Frolics 2023 open in just 24 hours (that’s midday tomorrow)! Here’s a few quick notes for you before heading off:

• the venue address is on your ticket
• we strongly recommend approaching the site from the A303 - if using SatNav from the M5 at Taunton the directions might take you off the A358 before the A303, we suggest ignoring those directions
• you may camp next to your car but this year we will be managing the camping field more than before so if you want to form a base camp please try to arrive together
• please print your e-tickets if possible to avoid delays on arrival
• cash is recommended for the kitchen and bar

Happy packing. See you all tomorrow! 😁

With Field Frolics 2023 now just days away it seems that the scambots have finally found us again.

We still have tickets available from our website - www.fieldfrolics.co.uk - so we strongly recommend buying from there and not engaging with comments on our posts from people you don’t know.

On another note, has anyone else started packing yet?

Remember when we witnessed the birth of a supergroup last year?

Although F*** Me It’s Brian & The Two Tone Baby won’t be at Field Frolics 2023 next weekend we do have all of these guys to look forward to at our last ever village hall festival:

The Leylines, Mr Tea and the Minions, The Sweetchunks Band, Tim & Athene from 3 Daft Monkeys, Brian Stone & The Masters Of None, Lonely Tourist Duo, The Kahunas, Nasty Fishmonger, B-Sydes, Warren Ireland, Ruby Kelly and LunaBarge

As far as we know, nobody has ever described Field Frolics as rubbish, but rubbish is obviously something that we need to deal with.

This year we’re working with a new waste collection contractor. We’ll have pairs of bins inside and outside of the hall; 1 bin for food waste and 1 bin for everything else (don’t worry, recyclable material will be separated after it’s been collected from us). Please make sure that any food waste is disposed of separately and in the appropriate bins. If you can separate any food waste at your camp to be put in the correct bin as well then that’d be fantastic!

We already know that you’re some of the tidiest campers around after we found only one coffee cup and one napkin left behind last year, but please do keep our field clean and try to take your own rubbish away with you where possible.

The Leylines bring their high-energy folk-rock with a mix of raucous violin, dynamic guitar riffs and acerbic lyrics together in a whirlwind show that will get heart and mind pounding.

A four year run of bad luck on both sides has kept these festival favourites away from the village hall festival but we’ve got everything crossed that you’ll see them at Field Frolics 2023 in just over a week’s time

FFF Promotions’ time at Buckland St Mary Village Hall might be coming to an end but we’ve heard a rumour or two about a brand new event coming in to take our place. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements from the new team behind that coming soon.

In the meantime though there’s still time to make sure you join us for the big goodbye at Field Frolics 2023.

After performing not once but twice for us last year, Brian Stone is back with reinforcements as BRIAN STONE & THE MASTERS OF NONE. Brian has been touring solo since 2015 and in 2022 joined forces with Maty Tustian (ex Folk The System) and Ewan P Stevens (ex Bleeding Hearts) to bring a whole new dimension to his modern, high energy, lively folk show.
