BRIDGERTON FANS!
I have some exciting news at the end of this post!

••••

When Kat contacted me about her Bridgerton themed baby girl baby shower, which happened at the end of the summer, I was SO excited!

I adored making all of these cupcakes, but the little Bridgerton inspired baby girl dresses and the Bridgerton style miniature cakes were particularly fun!

Each cake stand held a different flavour of cupcake, and a different design.

Kat’s clever mum had decorated her garden for the party with so many special touches, and together with super talented Kat’s stunning flowers (Kat aka Milli Fleur), it really was the most incredibly beautiful baby shower!!

Lucy is kindly letting me share some of the cupcakes she ordered for a celebration of life after her lovely Nan passed away.
So many of Lucy's ideas came from such happy memories and funny stories surrounding her nan - she must have been such a warm and special lady, and was clearly so very dear to everyone.

Happy 1st anniversary to our very special friends Mr & Mrs Cook!!

Carla & Tim chatted online and first met after the lockdown when we were allowed to meet one person outside. They shared their first dates sitting in Carla's sunny courtyard, surrounded by Carla's beautiful pots and beloved garden birds. So romantic!
(Tim serenading her with 80s rock ballads... 🎤"Is this love, that I'm feeling..." 🎸😁)

The cake, which was set up at our fabulous The Horse [Moretonhampstead, UK], represented the courtyard where love first blossomed, complete with Carla’s flowers, and of course love birds.

I loved hand painting the birds and the tiles. The birds were taken from a beautiful 1885 Japanese watercolour on silk at the V&A.

Have a wonderful day you two! The sun is shining again!
Love you lots ######

Didn't get around to posting these (maybe because my photos were rather rushed!) but I met this little bear the other day, and he's soon to be one! And the smiliest little boy!
These were the bear themed cupcakes I made for Emma's baby shower last summer at Ullacombe Farm Shop and Cafe.

I made this cake table for THE most gorgeous Garden party wedding celebration!

Sophie, who is English, and Antoine, who is French, now live in London, but during covid times they lived in Paris and had a very small wedding there in 2022.

Sophie’s lovely mum then organised and decorated her stunning garden in beautiful Lustleigh, Devon for their wedding celebration in July last year.

The English & French garden party themed cake table consisted of:
• A pair of matching tall single tier cakes, playfully decorated as English tearooms to represent the bride and a French Bistro to represent the groom.
• A stand of French themed cupcakes including Sophie’s stunning wedding dress that she bought in a second hand shop in Paris, and of course 2022 Champagne from their Parisian wedding!
• A stand of English themed cupcakes including Devonshire scones, a London bus, and bottle of Pimms
• A stand of travel themed cupcakes (the couple love to travel, Sophie is a travel writer) featuring French & British passports, and countries the couple have visited together
• Secret garden/Fairy themed cupcakes including a toadstool house and a fairy sized wedding party sign
• Vintage tea party cupcakes
• Canadian themed cupcakes for Sophie’s French Canadian dad

The cake stands were set up in the family's beautiful greenhouse/summer house with incredible floral garland and moss bed put together by Sophie’s amazing mum.

These cakes were so much fun to make!! And such wonderful people to work with.

Charlotte & Alan were married in early summer last year at beautiful Bovey Castle.

The couple asked for four motifs to be subtly incorporated into their cake; a bee, a robin, a daisy and a boat. Each represented an important family member who were sadly missing from their special day. What a truly touching, wonderful idea.

I really enjoyed designing and piping the delicate borders and loved the soft pastel pinks and blush tones Charlotte chose for the sugar sweet peas, ranunculus and roses.

Lovely to make a pretty cake, especially such a tall one!

Love to Charlotte & Alan xx

David had a fantastic 80th birthday thanks to lovely wife Shelagh organising two fabulous surprise celebrations, one for their family and one for David's friends.
These were the cupcakes I made for the first party. David is the Fry Up King, and makes a mean Full English Breakfast for his family, which made such a fun theme!
The decorations included the couple's favourite Musks Sausages, Shelagh's marmalade on toast, David's own 'POPS' mug, his favourite variety of HP Sauce UK, his trademark red spotty hanky in tablecloth form, and the red frying pan he uses to create his weekend morning masterpieces.
Shelagh had added so many lovely touches to the parties, and while setting up David's cupcakes for the second event (sports themed), I saw and smelt amazing food being prepared by Amie and her team at www.amiebeamishcatering.co.uk - so I know David's guests all had a fantastic time too!

As 'Mr & Mrs B' both had a special birthday this year they decided to celebrate with B-Fest; a joint birthday bash with fabulous live music, held at our very own beautiful Dartmoor local pub The Horse [Moretonhampstead, UK].
Hugely talented (and busy!) Chris & Catherine are in 5 bands between them, The Dockneys, Panic Pete and the Roughbeats, The Upbeatz , South Devon Big Band, and Horseradish. Amongst other things, both play various instruments, sing, write songs, organise Mini Music Day (coming up soon, do take a look!) and Chris also happens to be the best ever guitar teacher (he taught my son to play).
Their cupcake tower was lots of fun to make! The chocolate top cake featured figures of the couple in their gig gear with instruments. Their cupcakes, in 7 different flavours, were topped with their band logos, decorations of their instruments, and other important things from their lives.
Happy Birthday again Mr & Mrs B! xx

Thanks to my lovely Mae for the fab cupcake menu chalkboard! xx

Something from back in 2021 never posted; large gingerbread cookies for Gidleigh Park. These were ordered to put in staff goody bags prior to re-opening after lockdowns. Such a lovely, thoughtful idea. The logos were hand piped, finished with beautiful edible metallic paint.

My large corporate cookies can be supplied individually packed in flat cardboard boxes all ready for mailing out to staff or clients.

How blissfully romantic to get married on Valentine's day, just the two of you, and to travel down to Devon to do it in such beautiful surroundings...
I really enjoyed getting to meet Jayne & Ian on their special day at wonderful Bovey Castle, and I absolutely loved creating their magnolia and koi carp design wedding cake.
Jayne asked for a Japanese theme. She also wanted very bright colours to echo her stunning Anna Scholz kaftan style dress, and amazing paper flowers by Rebecca of Paper Bouquets UK. The couple are soon off on a fabulous cruise too, and so the pair of koi carp seemed fitting.
The cake (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting) was decorated with fondant icing with an edible blue watercolour wash, and finished with gold leaf highlights. The koi carp were applied to the cake using hand cut fondant and were then hand painted.
So enjoyed making this one, and think magnolia are my new favourite sugar flower!
Congratulations again Jayne & Ian! xx

It was a joy to work with this interesting, busy, fun, and lovely couple! This is Erica & James' cake from their wedding at the beautiful Deer Park Country House at the very end of December, right before New Year.

The cake featured buildings, places, and memories that are all very special to the couple. So many to mention! Have listed them all below.

When I arrived to set up the cake I loved that Erica & James had made and displayed a 'can you spot..?' sign with little details for their guests to find on the cake; such a fabulous idea! And what a lovely team at Deer Park Country House, my first time at this wonderful venue, and hope very much to return!

Congratulations again Erica & James! xx

So...:

Top tier represented Dorset:
Symondsbury parish church where they got married (and James' parents were also married), with time of the wedding on the church clock, and Erica & James' bikes parked outside.
Their local; The Plume Of Feathers, with their favourite dishes on the specials boards outside.
A deli representing their love of cooking, and Italian food.
A bookshop with meaningful name and book titles, based on places they've lived, the first film they saw together, etc.
A travel agents representing their love of travel, with some of their favourite destinations in the window.

Middle tier:
Deer Park Country House.
Both Erica's family home in Suffolk, and James' family home in Devon. With the fabulous Head in the clouds building in the distance behind Erica's parents' house. Lily the dog and Ben the cat in the windows at James' parents' house, with Hound Tor in the background.
A bus stop, with wedding date, on the tier has two posters advertising coaches to locations where Erica & James went to University.

Bottom tier:
Suffolk's River Deben and Woodbridge Tide Mill with Erica & James' paddleboards. Woodbridge Tide Mill Museum
Devon's River Teign, Fingle Bridge & Fingle Bridge Inn, with the couple's kayaks, and Toby the campervan off on another adventure!
The Lake District where they have visited often; Loughrigg Tarn where James proposed, with a teeny weeny Erica & James wild swimming! Coledale horseshoe in the distance, and their favourite guesthouse HillCrest22, Keswick.
The tier also featured; Lands End & John O'Groats signposts from the couple's epic cycling adventure in 2021; in the distance Häfners Flair Hotel Adlerbad in the Black Forest, Germany - a favourite holiday for the couple and also from James' childhood; and finally miniature Old Harry Rocks, Swanage, in the sea.

These were fun! Some of the cute retro tv mini cakes made for my very lovely daughter Mae's 17th birthday (she's now 18!).
Mae had a sitcom themed fancy dress party and these are some of her favourite funny shows.
The cakes were chocolate, carrot, and vanilla, each on their own little 3" or 4" cake boards. The TV screens were edible photo icing I had printed by fantastic Eat Your Photo.
'Starring Mae Housego' was also a nod to the birthday girl being a drama student.
We definitely had the brown TV growing up! I can clearly remember the clunky sound of the little buttons when changing channels! All 3 of them!
Miss you Mae! 😘

Happy new year!
It's very grey and wet here in Devon, so thought I'd share a cake from brighter days!
This was the beach themed cupcake tower I made for Jess & Andy's beautiful wedding at amazing Tunnels Beaches, August before last.
Inside the couple's beach hut top cake was yummy coffee sponge with coffee buttercream, covered in coffee infused milk chocolate ganache.
The beach hut was finished with number 52 on the door; Jess & Andy's house number, and a little model of Harley their dear little Boston Terrier sitting outside with her tennis ball.
The 90 cupcakes were a mix of 5 different flavours including salted caramel, lemon, and vanilla filled with blueberry conserve.
After my year off, I am so looking forward to heading back to this wonderful venue!

With thanks to lovely Jenny Rutterford Photography for her fab shots! (see credits on photos)

It really is good to be back so that I get to work on fantastic projects like this! This is the giant gingerbread house I delivered at the beginning of December - it’s on display at stunning Gidleigh Park.

I designed a row of gingerbread shops with hand modelled fondant produce in the windows. I wanted to represent the AMAZING food and finest ingredients used at Gidleigh Park, who support local Devonshire farmers and producers.

Road names are ‘Eden Street’ after the south west’s own super talented Head chef Chris Eden, and ‘Brownsword Lane’ because Gidleigh Park is part of Andrew Brownsword Hotels

The deli and greengrocers are named after the beautiful location of the hotel, and the patisserie after the Prouz family from the hotel's history, who lived at the site of Gidleigh Park from the reign of William the Conqueror until the 17th Century.

Think it’s possibly one of my all time favourite jobs!! Just had so much fun. I really want to shrink and shop in the patisserie! (They’d probably have half a wall missing after my visit though!)

Looking forward to my gingerbread house building and decorating workshops back for 2023! Please get in touch with Gidleigh Park or myself for details!

Wishing everyone a very, very happy Christmas!!! Have fun and all the best for a fabulous 2023! ###

One of my new year's resolutions is to be more active on social media in 2023! From January, each Friday on my page I am going to share with you one the many amazing creative people I know. They won't necessarily be cake or wedding related but will all be super clever and super talented!
To start my Friday feature off early, here's something from my son Jacob. He's a 20 year old talented film making student in the final year of his degree at Screenology in Bristol. Please do share this (very funny) film about his final degree project... 🙏🙏🙏
