DG Dance had a great day at Stranraer Academy last Tuesday leading dance workshops and judging the Dance League Round Two. Fantastic work and talented dancers!

D&G Dance Workshop

On Tuesday 14th March, Stranraer Academy were lucky to receive a Dance workshop led by the Regional Dance co-ordinator Charlotte Grieveson and her assistant. They delivered energetic workshops to an S1 PE class and also to pupils who had signed up for the event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and had a great time!

WELL DONE to all those who took part as well as everyone that organised the Mabie Mile on Saturday... Fantastic Event! It was also great to see our women and girls fitness selfie board! Hope everyone involved had a great day!

During 2016 Dumfries and Galloway Active Schools in partnership with the Holywood Trust piloted a range of new and exciting dance programmes. This week saw the launch of the Dance League Round Two! Congratulations to all those that took part, the judges enjoyed visiting each school and watching some fantastic performances learnt from the DVD step by step tutorial! Here's some photos from this week's visits.

DGC Secondary School Sport

Today's the day ... good luck to all those taking part!

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY -

On wednesday the 8th of March not only is it our Regional Rugby7's festival with 40 teams taking to the fields to compete it is also Interanational Womens Day and with 11 girls teams competing (more than any other year to date) we fit the mold perfectly!

Our girls teams not only highlight the growth in the sport within schools but showcases the change in attitude, motivation and determintation of young females taking part in contact sports.

We cant wait to see all 110 girls put on their boots and showcase to the rest of the region (and nation) that D&G girls can play great rugby and arent afraid to tackle the preconceptions of girls in contact sport!

Congratulations to everybody who took part at the Nithsdale Badminton Finals! Check Katy with her winning shield and our new selfie women and girls board! Well done! Look out for the selfie boards in our next events!

Huge well done to our amazing Katy Anderson who won the Nithsdale Schools Badminton finals for P7 girls today! She will now play in the regional finals for a place at the national finals!!! Woo! Go Katy, we're all behind you 😊
