Learn To Jig is returning to St.Joseph’s Community Centre Carryduff , for another 8-week program!

Each class is tailored to suit your level, beginner or experienced, so suitable for everyone.

This year we’ve partnered with and look forward to teaching a bit of jiggin in sat & sun 23/24th July!

Do you ever find yourself tapping your toes while the music starts in the bar? Does the sound of every fiddle or drum beat make you want to dance as if you were on tour with River Dance? Only kidding. Truthfully though, if you have thought about Irish Dancing, but don’t know where to start, or what to do, and think that there is no hope because you are no longer a kid and not in an organised setting; then this might just be an option. Learn To Jig has designed an easy, up from the sofa, no strings attached opportunity to learn the basics and have fun; either to progress or to pick up the odd session. It’s used by those who might not have the time to commit to longer classes, or as a way to keep fit, or just for the craic. In any case, it’s an opportunity to meet new people and learn the art of Irish Dance.

This session will be a snapshot, an “eye opener” as it were, with the chance to meet one of the experienced dance teachers, learn some moves and have some well deserved whiskies in the process. Comfy Clothes are a must.

We’ve almost got the easy reel to music!!

We also run masterclasses for 90 minutes , as a one of session. Perfect for a cultural experience during team building events, parties or simply as a fun thing to do with families.

While we now associate Irish dance with competition and performance, it was originally a social dance that was enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. In fact, traditional Irish social dances are still popular today, and many people learn Irish dance as a way to connect with their heritage and community.

Learn To Jig was established to do exactly that. ‘Bring more people the chance to Irish Dance’

We heard many of times over the years that people missed out on Irish Dancing as a child because it wasn’t offered at their school, or it clashed with something else they were doing. Our 8-week programmes are the chance to learn Irish dancing.

We have dedicated classes especially for adults. If you fancy learning a new hobby, get in touch!

Our Carryduff 8-week programme, in the class venue of St.Joseph’s Parish Hall.

All our classes are taken by one of our lovely instructors who have experience teaching over 200 adults to date how to Irish dance.

We also offer masterclasses which are our 90 minute sessions designed especially for the likes of hen and stag parties, birthday parties, corporate activities, team building etc.

On Thursdays we do after school clubs in Stranmillis. In our last 8 week programme all our dancers had learned their beginners reel. What an achievement!

Irish dancing isn’t just about learning to dance. It’s learning about commitment, team work, balance, timing to music, routine and discipline. It’s so much more than learning how to move your feet. It teaches children life skills they’ll carry with them through the years. 🫶🏼

Our 8 week programme is for adults and is a fun activity learning the art of Irish dancing! It’s also a great keep fit class. 🥵

Good afternoon ! We are searching for our next community to bring Learn To Jig to, and Carryduff is top of our list. Learn To Jig is a fun and immersive experience learning the art of Irish Dance and our 8-week programme is especially for adults. It's a great opportunity to meet new people in your community whilst learning this cultural dance of Ireland.
Our classes have been a huge success in Manchester, and now we are bringing them to N. Ireland. To date, we have taught over 200 adults how to Irish Dance.
At this stage, whilst we finalise the location and days/times, we are just reaching out to gauge interest. We will be opening places out on first come first serve basis and will look for a minimum of 16 adults to take part in our first 8-week programme in Carryduff.

Learn To Jig was established by our founder Sophie, who is passionate about sharing her love of Irish Dancing. Becoming a dance teacher & opening her own school, Sophie would often hear from the kids in her classes how their family members wished they'd had "the chance to dance" when they were younger. Sophie saw an opportunity to bring Irish Dancing to older generations & started to also offer Adult Irish Dance classes. They were a huge success, and to date have taught over 200 adults the art of Irish Dancing.​

Learn To Jig was created with this in mind- offering more people the chance to Irish Dance.

Learn To Jig offers taster sessions in the form of masterclasses, which are ideal for parties, events and team building. We also offer 8 week programmes and currently we are looking for our next community to come to. Get in touch if you'd like to see us in your community next!
