Platinum Discos provides a unique Photo Booth experience with the biggest prints in Scotland. Our prints are a whopping 6” by 9” or approx 15cm by 22cm.
I made a short video at today’s wedding to show you just how good our booths are.
Non stop printing for 3 hours with roughly a print every 40 seconds.
Our booth uses Luma booth software that automatically adds any one of over 50 backgrounds automatically using artificial intelligence.
In the video I made I used the inflatable booth which gives a bit of privacy and a focal point and you can have this or a themed backdrop or just a plain white or black drape.
None of these are strictly necessary as the software automatically adds the background for you. This is particularly useful if your venue is short of space to put the Photo Booth in.
We provide you with lots of props and we include a 100 capacity photo album in the price and it usually gets filled every night!
The people having their photograph taken get one copy of the photo and the other goes in the bride and grooms photo album.
We also send you all your photographs digitally via Dropbox for easy sharing on social media etc.
Setup takes only 15-20 minutes in most cases.
Our Photobooth is an ideal thing to use during room turnaround which is usually around an hour or perhaps in the afternoon after the ceremony and after the photographer has finished taking his group shots.
This fills a quieter time of the day where you and your guests can relax and have fun getting your photos taken.

Why hire our Photo Booth?
Well the singular most important reason to hire our Photobooth is the print size.
We are the only company in Scotland who gives you a 6“ x 9“ print which is approximately 15 cm x 22.5 cm.
They are quite literally double the size of our nearest rivals who usually give you a 6“ x 4“ print and five times the size of the three silly little passport size photos on a strip.
When I started doing Photobooth hire I wanted to do something that was radically different and I used to see these passport size photos being left behind on the tables on the floor as valueless and I wanted something that people were guaranteed to take home with them!
Every time I do a photobooth hire nearly all of our prints are taken home most of the time none are left on the tables. The other day, for the first time in a while, one was left.
If you are hiring a cheap Photobooth you are more than likely to be getting the tiny little passport size photos or if you’re lucky you might be getting a 6“ x 4“ print which is still significantly better than the tiny three on a strip type.
With us we give you amazing 6“ x 9“ prints and we give you an album, lots of props to choose from and digital copies of all the prints via dropbox.
Best of all all these things are included in the price and we give you a friendly helpful supervisor who will look after the Booth for the duration of the hire and won’t go and sit outside and smoke a cigarette etc.
Our prints are produced on a Dnp 620 top of the range dye sublimation printer. These are the same kind that you get in the instant print booths at supermarkets so you’ll know the quality is absolutely top-notch.
Our prices are very reasonable only £395 for a three hour booth hire and £50 extra for any additional hours that you might need.
You can have a two hour hire minimum if you want, but we always find that a three hour hire works best and we often tell people not to bother having a four hour hire because the last hour it’s barel

This was my gig on Saturday night in the Civil Service Club in Perth for susan‘s 50th birthday party. People often ask me what is the difference between your Disco and somebody else’s well I think that video pretty much sums it up.
The one thing I really like about my job is when you can quite literally transform a room using Lighting. I think it makes all the difference and when people walk into the room and you hear them comment on how beautiful it looks, it’s always something that puts a smile on my face. As I was walking around the venue from the bar next door all I could hear was the customers, staff and managers all commenting on how amazing the room looked. So it’s not just me that notices it seems!
When I started out as a DJ I always wanted to put on the most spectacular shows. It’s something I’ve stuck with for over 48 years now. Nowadays DJs are going for a different kind of look for their Disco with a very minimalistic look and they all use this expression “ Less is more”. I have never been this kind of Dj and I never will be, as I really like to put on a proper show with a big Sound system that sounds crystal clear with amazing lighting that really impresses people when they walk through the door! If you’ve been to one of my gigs or if you’ve hired me, you’ll know exactly what I mean!
The latest trend that DJs are following is to get rid of what I would call a traditional DJ console that you can hang your lights from and has lots of space behind it to hide all your boxes and stuff and makes everything look tidy to Lecturn type consoles with nowhere to hang lights no protection from customers with drinks in their hands and to me they look like Ice cream salesmen rather than Djs.
This look is not for me and never will be!
I like my Disco to be very protected as I buy very expensive equipment and the thought of somebody dropping a pint of beer or worse still Coca-Cola on my laptop or controller, that would cost thousands of pounds to replace is just unthinkable. The offending tyre that blew out on me yesterday on my way out of Edinburgh. Not sure what I hit, probably a pot hole. The tyre is so deformed with a steel cord coming through and is unevenly worn.
This was the last thing I could have done with on a busy Saturday delivering giant letters here, there and everywhere.
I managed to get the wheel off in minutes but getting the spare out from under my van was a bit more challenging!
The book for the van shows a picture of the back of a van which isn’t the same as mine! I had to figure it out myself, but eventually did and was back on the road in 20 minutes and everything was still delivered on time!
This tyre has only done 12,000 miles and all the others are still like new.
Very strange!

I’m at Melville Castle wedding fair today 2-6pm. I decided to take out my new multicoloured “LOVE” letters which are 4ft tall and are multi coloured and do sequences!
A demonstration of what my new multicoloured 4ft tall white “LOVE” letters can do and a demo size dance floor, 24 wireless mood lights, a sample 4ft rustic “L” plus 1ft tall white “MR & MRS” which sit on top of our 4ft tall letters that would spell your married surname.
My guard dog Sam loves the ice cream man! He gets an ice cream every time I get one.
