It’s that time of year again!
My biggest show of the year featuring a 20Kw sound system and 68 lights, plus smoke, fans etc!

It turns out I’ve been doing this since 2010 so 16 years I’ve done this Gig at the Glen Pavilion!

How was your Christmas party night?
Both of mine on Friday and Saturday night were awesome!
Great audience, friendly staff, delicious food and myself and The Alba Ceilidh Band had an amazing night with two amazing audiences!
My gigs in The Atholl Palace really are very satisfying for me as their Dj and every night we have a phenomenal atmosphere!
A very responsive audience who were a lot of fun!
If you’ve not booked your Christmas party night yet, there are a few places left over the next two weekends as I checked.

It’s that time of year again!
The confetti “awards” and others are back again!
The biggest con going!
Awards that you have to pay to enter and don’t represent our whole industry and you win if you buy lots of seats at the gala dinner or advertise or donate to them are hardly quality awards!
They then ask the finalists to provide free entertainment on the day although I see now you have to send in a video of a performance. Obviously you’ll choose one that was good, but is that representative of your skills or of having a great crowd?

I sussed this out years ago when I was a finalist and never want to be one again!

If brides think that these “awards” guarantee that you’re getting the best in the country they’d be somewhat mistaken!

There are more awards companies setting up every year, there’s more of them than sales at DFS! I get bomarded with companies asking me to enter and here’s the entry fee!

One other thing I forgot to mention is that at this time of year you’ll see lots of posts on social media from people who want to win an “award “asking all their friends and family to vote for them!
All this proves is how many people you have on social media as friends!
And these so-called Awards companies don’t care as long as they get their entry fee and their profit from the awards dinner!

It’s good to see a few other people in the Wedding industry questioning the validity of these so-called Awards!

I believe that some of the awards companies were under investigation too!

The only thing that matters to me are the lovely reviews I get from my customers! I don’t need a fake award to be busy!

Did you know that anybody can set themselves up as an Awards company and provide Awards!
It is completely unregulated! If you can use photoshop you can make yourself an award winner without a single vote being cast!

I’ve been going on about these fake awards for years! Glad that someone else has written such a good piece about these fake awards!
I have also asked for my name to be removed from all the ones I get nominated by!
Despite being a multi award winning Dj once I realised this was all a huge scam where you pay to win I wanted nothing more to do with these “awards”!
Most of the good DJs I know have never entered any of these so-called awards!
So if you are a bride or groom and are looking for a good DJ I would advise you to be very careful about hiring somebody who is a multi award winning DJ! Because it means nothing !

So Here We Go... Again!

Well, it looks like I’ve somehow been listed again as a finalist in the Scottish Wedding Awards, courtesy of Creative Oceanic (aka the puddle-dwelling crowd who run these so-called “awards”).

Let’s be clear: these awards have ZERO credibility.

Anyone can vote. Your granny, her dog, your neighbour’s budgie, and yet, finalists don’t even need votes at all. I tested this myself a few years back: one of my businesses received 90 votes, another just 4… and guess which one made it to the finals? Yep, the one with 4.

After calling them out publicly back then, I was blocked from their socials. So imagine my surprise to see my name pop up again as a “finalist” in something I haven’t even engaged with. How that happens, I’ll let you decide.

ITV even investigated Creative Oceanic after countless suppliers were left chasing refunds for cancelled events. It’s a long-running scam dressed up as recognition, and I refuse to be associated with it or any other Vanity Award. Being on the leadership group of the Scottish Wedding Industry Alliance, this is hopefully something we will be actively fighting.

I want to make this very clear, I will never support or promote vanity awards that exist solely to make organisers money off the hard work of genuine businesses.

If you see me shouting about something, it’s because it’s real, honest, and worth celebrating, not because I paid to play.

And yes, I’ll say it plainly: any supplier still pushing or boasting about these “awards” while knowing the truth won’t be recommended by me. Integrity matters.

I’ll keep doing what I do best, creating beautiful work for couples who actually care about authenticity over appearances. I have a moral compass and I know exactly what way it's pointing as do plenty of my wedding supplier colleagues who have posted about these awards and many others out there. You know who you are and I'll always applaude you for speaking the truth.

Well, that’s two weekends in a row that I’ve had an amazing gig! Last night I was at Crichton golf club in Dumfries doing a “get together” for Christine who is going to be 60 on the 13th of December. A thoroughly enjoyable evening where I was not so much a DJ as an entertainer and had a lot of interaction with an amazing audience!
I’ve always said it’s people who make parties and having somebody who is a party animal makes my life as a DJ much easier!
I was very lucky last night as I had several people who were very much up for a party. Mary who asked for some Ceilidh music at the beginning of the night, Billy who was an absolute star, especially doing the Freddie Mercury. I want to break free routine! The two girls from Livingston, and Christine the birthday girl who was never off the dancefloor!
So many requests and just a thoroughly enjoyable gig!

It was such good fun with all the guests commenting on how good the photo booth was and how nice Ashley was. I myself found Ashley very friendly and personable and made the whole experience soo good.
