A look back at one of my favourite weddings of 2024 – Alice & Simon’s glorious September celebration at Deer Park House.

Some weddings just sing with seasonality, and Alice & Simon’s was one of them. Alice had one request: dahlias. And oh, did we embrace them along with wonderful seasonal beauties like: Cosmos, Zinnia, Grasses, Celosia, Strawflowers, Scabiosa, Snapdragons & Phlox.

September light is soft, golden, and full of warmth—the perfect match for the rich, varied hues of locally grown Dahlias. Their sculptural shapes and velvety petals captured the shift from summer to autumn beautifully, echoing the deep, romantic tones of the burgundy-clad bridesmaids and the elegant, fairylit dining room at Deer Park.

✨ Bud vases lined the crisp white linen tables, each one holding a perfect seasonal flower in its moment of glory.

✨ A show-stopping display of Dahlias & Zinnia adorned the wedding cake, celebrating nature’s most decadent blooms

✨ Single statement Dahlias for each bridesmaid, a touch of bold beauty against deep burgundy gowns.

An Intimate Wedding at Bovey Castle

When I connected with Bridget & Sav (all the way from Canada!), we only communicated via email. Planning flowers without ever meeting in person might seem tricky, but with trust and a shared love for seasonal blooms, we created something truly special.

For their elegant and intimate wedding at Bovey Castle, Bridget wanted a petite bouquet, delicate buttonholes, and a beautifully understated low bowl arrangement for their ceremony and dinner. Everything was designed using fresh, locally grown flowers—bringing a touch of the British countryside to their special day.

I love working with couples who value seasonal, sustainable florals. There’s something magical about using locally grown flowers, each one with its own character, to create arrangements that feel natural and effortless.

For me, flowers aren’t just about decoration—they’re about storytelling. Every wedding is unique, and I love creating designs that reflect each couple’s style, whether it’s a grand affair or an intimate gathering like this one.

“Why no roses?” Here’s the truth:

❤️At Bumble and Iris, we believe love should extend to our planet, too. That’s why we use only seasonal, British-grown flowers in our bouquets—even for Valentine’s Day.

Most roses sold in the UK for Valentine’s Day are imported from Kenya, Ethiopia, or Colombia.

🌹To meet demand, these roses are often grown in energy-intensive greenhouses and flown thousands of miles.

The carbon footprint of a single Valentine’s bouquet can be up to 22kg of CO2—equivalent to driving 50 miles.

💧Plus, the water needed to grow one rose is estimated at 10 litres—a significant strain in regions already facing water scarcity.

Instead, we celebrate the natural charm of British-grown flowers like Tulips, Ranunculus, Sweet William and more, all bursting with the colours of love perfect for Valentine’s.

💐Locally grown flowers are fresher, have a lower carbon footprint, and support sustainable farming practices.
They also contribute to our local economy and preserve British flower farming traditions.

This Valentines and throughout the Spring months, many of our Tulips will come from - a fifth-generation British flower farm known for their premium blooms.

Today marks the last of this year’s wreath workshops, and what a wonderful season it’s been creating festive magic with so many of you. Thank you for bringing your creativity and Christmas cheer! ✨

Looking back to this beautiful sunshiney day in August. Laura and George married at with a gorgeous colour palette of pastel brights.
The weather was predicted to be wild and rainy, but during the morning, it cleared, and the sun popped out just in time for the ceremony under the ribbon decorated arbour in the gardens. Lots of personal touches were added by the couple around the venue, including the use of our diy flowers for table vases, potted perennial plants to line the aisle, and lots of lovely photos of happy memories.

Laura and George's flowers were 100% Devon grown - thankyou as ever ❤️
