As I’ve had some new 2024 followers I thought I’d show my face again. I’m Toby (that’s me on the right filming a stunning elopement in Corsica last year) owner of Handcraft Pictures. I’ve been filming weddings and elopements full time for 14 years now and have been lucky enough to travel all over the world doing so.

I love cinema and the whole experience of going to the movies and attempt to replicate that feeling in my work, creating “mini-movies” for all of my clients- a film worthy of being watched on a big screen.

I don’t want my films to follow fleeting social media trends, I want them to out last social media altogether if possible, by attempting to replicate the timeless quality of classic cinema.

Last year Vogue magazine ranked me in their top 3 UK wedding videographers and kindly said if you book with me: “you’ll be left with a film worthy of its own awards ceremony.”

As well as filming weddings and elopements I use my experience in the industry to run workshops for new videographers looking to take their work to the next level, and have a few exciting projects in the works for 2024.

When not travelling for work you’ll either find me in the park with my 4 year old son, at the cinema or at a live music or comedy gig.

//ABOUT ME//

I've had a fair few new followers recently hello and thank you!) so thought I should reintroduce myself.
I'm Toby, I run Handcraft Pictures, and have shot hundreds of weddings since starting my business in 2010.

I've loved filmmaking ever since picking up a video camera as a child and have never stopped creating, whether it was little films with my siblings, music videos in my teens or short films during my student days, I have never fallen out of love with the craft.

I am an avid cinema goer, I love everything about the experience. I love how immersive and free of distraction it is. I love how film looks up on a big screen, the grain, the imperfections, the flickering pulse of the projector. I love how much bigger and bolder it makes every expression and emotion but most of all I love the nostalgia of it.

The word "cinematic" gets overused in the wedding videography world, but I really do try and create as close to a movie experience as I can with my films, from the way I shoot on the day, the way I tell the story, the pacing, grading and the grain, my lens choices, music choices everything is intended to create a movie-like experience and I love when couples mange to experience their films on as big a screen as possible.

I think my style is always changing and evolving, and I try and create something as fresh and unique for each of my couples as I can, but always with the underlying principle that the film needs to feel like an experience and one that will live on, not filled with trendy gimmicks and tricks that will date it, not designed to be watched in portrait mode on phones that will one day be obsolete, but in the format of the movies- a format that has stood the test of time.

//Lake Garda Elopement//

Lake Garda is a stunning part of the world, whether it’s a moody misty day or glorious sunshine it oozes history and nostalgic romance, so I’m always happy to film there.

Garda itself is beautiful spot at the north of the lake, framed by the mountains and a perfect spot for an elopement.

Taking time for a boat ride on the lake is a must as it’s such a great opportunity for portrait shots and a stroll through the streets of any of the lakeside towns looks like something from a classic movie.

Tom and Tara flew over from the Netherlands with their closest family and friends for a destination wedding in my favourite city: London (I might be biased).

Their day started around the city with a first look at their hotel, a quick stop at the Royal Exchange before heading on the tour for afternoon tea, while being transported to the stunning

Really looking forward to finally getting back to filming professionally, its been a while!
