I thought I would post with an update on the festival. I now have three great new organisers who I am meeting up with next Sunday afternoon at The Venue so that we can have a preliminary look at what is involved for next year.
The new organisers are :
Kawing Ho Piano
Isabel Sousa Singing and Orchestras Day
Mike Guy Instrumental and Young Musician
I am still looking for someone to take on Speech and Drama - Let me know if you are interested.
All the adjudicators have been booked for 2025 and the dates are:
Drama : 22 and 23 February
Music : 8 and 9 March
Orchestras : 15 March
I am so pleased that we have great people who have agreed to carry the event forward, and I am positive it will be as good, if not better, under their watch.
Having said the above, there are two specific roles which, if they are of interest to you or anyone you know please let me know:
1. Checking people in and taking spectator and programme money – this is basically the job which Alistair (and Mickey) did every year located in the theatre foyer.
2. Organising the green room (which is situated at the back of the stage and catering – this was one of my jobs and involved booking catering with the caterers, buying the water, soft drinks, cake, crisps etc (a card will be arranged for payment) and keeping the green room tidy and set up for each festival (ie 3 weekends).
If anyone is interested in taking on (maybe with a friend) one of the above roles do let me know or if you know someone who might like to be involved with the festival but not actually do the main organising then these jobs might be of interest.
Splitting the festival up into smaller chunks is less stressful for the organisers and not so time consuming and I think will be better moving forward as a team rather than one person.
As always I am immensely grateful for all the support you give to the festival and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments if you have any. The entry portal for 2025 will open in August.
Sending best wishes to you all and do enjoy this beautiful weather.
Pat 😊
