From 1st July 2023 ‘Premier Wedding DJ’ will be merging with ‘The Ultimate Wedding DJ’

This will not affect any current bookings and in all honesty, nobody will notice any change at all from how things have been the past year or so.

THE STORY

I, Chris, formed Premier Wedding DJ back in 2010 to provide a high-class exclusive service purely for the wedding industry. I have been involved one way or another in the wedding industry for 30 years now and even back then realised the lack of DJs who solely worked within the Wedding Industry. Music has been a lifelong passion of mine.

At a similar time as I formed Premier Wedding, someone else quite local spotted this too and formed The Ultimate Wedding DJ – now I have to say we used to chat a lot and were friends more than competitors, there was (and still are) very few dedicated Wedding DJs about so there was never a need to lock horns over anything and in fact we learned from each other.

In 2017, the owner of The Ultimate Wedding DJ decided to look at ceasing trading and follow a different career path. For a good few months I actually covered bookings for him in order to give time to decide what to do.

The decision was made, and he decided he no longer wished to work in the industry. So, the outcome was I had ‘Premier Wedding DJ’ and who better to take over ‘Ultimate Wedding DJ’?

Anyone who knows me will know I am passionate about the industry but rubbish at business. So, here I was sat with 2 businesses which ran identically (even our prices were the exact same yet was something we never discussed) which competed against each other.

I had a decision to make, what to do? Well, I thought I would keep running both to see what happened for a year or so and then decide what direction to take.

With covid and personal health reasons, this has carried on being the case until now. Due to rising costs of marketing and running 2 business names I have decided to merge Premier with Ultimate and trade purely as ‘The Ultimate Wedding DJ’

WHY TRADE AS ULTIMATE AND NOT PREMIER?

Well nothing business wise affected this and didn’t take a guru to make a business plan – I have loads of lovely expensive brochures for Ultimate Wedding DJ which I don’t want to have to dispose of, so hence that is why Ultimate was chosen – that is 100% the truth too haha.

WILL PREMIER WEDDING DJ DISSAPEAR?

NO! I will keep the website etc running but any replies and bookings will come from Ultimate – with an explanation. I do have plans for a few things I want to do, just so busy I never have the time to sit and sort things out so maybe one day will relaunch the Premier name but will have to see – this job is physically demanding, and I am not getting any younger haha.

MOVING FORWARD

Moving forward this will leave more time to focus on bookings I have as well as expanding the Ultimate Wedding DJ, a brand which is well known in the area with most wedding suppliers and venues.

We are constantly improving which will not change and with bookings as far as 2026 in the diary the future looks rosy.

We must apologise for the radio silence, this summer has been the most challenging EVER – yes, even more challenging than Covid if you can believe it.

We will reveal all at some point, but for now we are working hard behind the scenes after a really busy summer of weddings and will be back soon to let you know about the new, exciting plans we have in store for Premier Wedding DJ

A couple of rock and heavy metal wedding discos which may not be everyone's taste but something we love to do.

With thank you emails coming before lunch the following day for some we think we can safely say a good job has been done.

Emails like this together with a lovely Facebook review really do make the job more worthwhile.

This was a lovely day at The Treehouse at The Alnwick Garden where we provided music all day including the most intimate and memorable ceremony we have ever done.

"This is just to say a big thank you for providing the music background for our wedding day and for a great dance session in the evening. Everyone enjoyed the music very much - both young and old.

You were a great person to have on the day and thanks for being so helpful and accommodating prior to the event. We hope you got the food we ordered for you, - we were a bit preoccupied to check that you got it ok.

Well, we were a little concerned that with 16 months without 'proper' weddings we might have been a bit rusty.

However with the fantastic reviews we have received we must be doing ok.

To add to this, we had someone at yesterdays wedding ask for a brochure, this morning we woke to an enquiry from the same person who then booked in within 30 minutes.

Onwards and upwards as they say ............

Well our first 'proper' week back has included a fantastic school prom (unfortunately our only one this year), and wedding venues including a barn, an aircraft hanger and even a treehouse.

Will be a battle tonight as the sun is blaring and the outdoor areas are so lovely here, we'd imagine people would enjoy sitting outside - a nice cold beer, sitting outside in the sun is heaven here so we can't blame them.

What a way to kick start the end of restrictions - a fantastic school prom night with some of the most pleasant students you could meet.

It is a shame, but we never post photos or videos from Prom Nights and we could have had some fantastic footage as it really was a crazy night - seeing EVERYONE up on the dancefloor before the starters had been served (least we don't seem to have forgot what to do haha).

No rest for the wicked though, we are all packed and prepared for tonights wedding, and another trip to Northside Farm - it has been a while since we have been there.

If you are getting married in the next few weeks and find certain aspects are restricted, PLEASE remember this is not the choice of your wedding suppliers or venue.

We are just like you and cannot understand why the restrictions are still in place, however it is a legal requirement and nothing any of us can do about it unfortunately.

What we urge you to do is write to your local MP and Councillors to express your anger/confusion over the barmy restrictions still in place for weddings. The more people that do, the greater chance we have of someone listening.

Most important thing though, is these restrictions do NOT result in a wedding day you will not enjoy and cherish forever. We have done many weddings since the start of the pandemic and every one has been fun and special, if a little different.

So please do write to your MP, but don’t dwell on it, you will still have a fantastic day no matter what.

We are getting a lot of queries about what will and will not be allowed at weddings.

Whilst we can assist with advice, the important thing is to CONTACT YOUR VENUE first. The main realistic changes mean that now venues are responsible for undertaking a Risk Assessment to determine what can and cannot be allowed, including maximum numbers.

As ever, we are being as flexible as possible, however we cannot really advise until we know what your venue are allowing to go ahead.

Basically, for us DJs are allowed, dancing outside is allowed and dancing inside is ‘advised against’ but also using ‘common sense’. As mentioned though all this is determined on the venues risk assessment.

On a similar note, venues are being restricted too and what is contained within the Risk Assessment isn’t necessarily what they wish or believe – so go easy on them too haha.

We urge everyone to follow this guidance and ignore the false guidance which was published by the uk media before the government guidance was released.

It is a little bit better news for weddings. Numbers can increase and for us, although dancefloors are banned outdoor dancing is ok and indoor dancing is simply ‘advised against’.

We are, however, still here for any couples who have booked us and need any advice. We have emailed everyone booked with us to check with plans and, as we have been throughout, are being as flexible as possible to help out.

We have had to remove our FB reviews temporarily as have a troll (or should we say jealous competitor) amongst us who has been leaving false negative reviews via other means.

It hasn’t taken long to work out who this is though, we were advised of the reviews and who it was before we even realised, and soon we will pop these back on.

Super excited to be hitting the road this week.

Spending a few days out on the road meeting up with couples who have booked us, couples thinking of booking, venues, other wedding colleagues and so on.

Plenty coffee drunk and plenty cake to eat.

Been so long since we had the chance to do this and really looking forward to seeing people, in person, again.
