A winter wedding for two of the nicest humans you could ever meet 🖤

An absolute pleasure to capture Grace & Mark’s magical wedding in Southwick back in December (just realised I hadn’t uploaded any shots from their day!!!).

A beautiful ceremony in St. James’ Church followed by a reception at the D-day village memorial hall.

A couple of fun personal facts are these are the first venues I ever shot a wedding at and my wife and I also held our wedding at the village hall in 2023! So amazing to be back there for Grace and marks wedding.

Grace happens to also be an incredible florist for weddings, who I can highly recommend!!!!

On May 4th 2025, Ollie (pictured here at his wedding to Sal in 2023!) will be running 100 miles between 2 cones set 160 meters apart fundraising for Portsmouth Hospitals Charity.

Wanting to bring brightness into a bleak place after personal experience, the funds are going towards redecorating and transforming Bereavment rooms.

A difficult challenge to transform a difficult place into something as nice as it can be.

Wrapped up the 2024 wedding season in style at the Square Tower with Jo & Tom who tied the knot on New Year’s Eve Eve 🥂 Huge thanks to them and every couple who trusted me to capture their special moments this year. The shooting might be done, but I’m still hard at work editing your beautiful stories together. 💻✨

For my 2025 couples, IT’S YOUR YEAR! Feel free to reach out any time, but i’ll be in touch in the months leading up to your big day with your pre-wedding questionnaires before our catch up’s in the weeks before.

There aren’t words for how special your day was, and I can’t thank you enough for having me be part of capturing it for you!

2 of the best humans and their nearest and dearest with a beautiful ceremony, speeches followed by an awesome party with - all in the awesomeness of Fazeley Studios in Digbeth.

A full circle moment having known Ben since we were little, running round on skateboards and playing in the street - it’s so amazing to see people who deserve it find true happiness, and I was as buzzing to capture your day as I was to see the initial enquiry come through - hope you enjoy the sneak peaks and I can’t wait to edit the rest of your gallery, so many moments!

I’m excited for the longer evenings BUT I can’t lie that where it works (not all venues have suitable spots) - In the winter months, getting a portrait in the dark in a cool location is exciting to shoot! These ‘hero’ shots account for such a little proportion of the images captured on a day as it’s typical 1 image that’s staged compared to the hundreds of natural moments to capture throughout the day (which is what weddings really are about to me!)

But being a nerd, I love this element of photography too!

I’m going to make it a mission to start posting more moment driven stuff too - I’ll be starting to schedule these from April!!!

Rain rain go away ☔️

As it’s a bit miserable outside today, I randomly thought about this first picture, one I really love from Rebecca and Josh’s wedding last year.

I want to post more of these in between moments from the day that we capture so much of but are often guilty of posting the main ‘beats’ / traditional elements of the day which make up only a small proportion of the images we deliver.

On this occasion everyone headed outside to get the ‘everybody’ group shot as there was a small break in the weather, however the break was just too small and the heavens opened before everybody was outside 😂 luckily shortly after there was another break in the clouds and we pulled it off! I love when everyone is a good sport and takes it all in their stride!

One thing we can’t control is the weather, but we can always make things work and more often than not there’s typically breaks so we can get what we neeed outdoors when it does, alternativley with years of experience shooting in any situation, we can make things work indoors in the worst case too! (Just maybe not for a group shot of everybody if space doesn’t allow!)

A little sunrise flight to capture a shot of one of my favourite areas of the city as well as the location of one of my favourite venues .tower.oldportsmouth - there’s a million reasons why I love this place, the terrace is amazing in summer, you’re right on the beach, couple shoots down the cobbled streets just minutes away and the staff have always been so incredible.

This time of year there’s lots of time at the desk, so I made the effort to get out this morning for some (very) fresh air!

Why Choose a professional wedding photographer (like me)?

Over the last few days with my head down in the office (editing season!) I fell into deep thought about what it means to me, or even ‘us’ (my wider network of industry peers and I), to call ourselves professional - these are some of the main things that popped into my head, although there’s probably a lot more still 😊

For most of us (myself included!) your wedding will be the first time you’re going to hire a photographer and you may wonder what you’re really getting or how important to you their experience is - hopefully this post helps :)

An iconic wedding venue in my favourite part of the seaside city, the Square Tower has become a second home to me whilst shooting weddings over the years. Being in Old Portsmouth means that there’s lots of beautiful areas and backdrops for couple photos too, from the beach literally outside the venue to the cobbled streets a short walk away, we can get a lot of lovely photos in just a short little ‘loop’. Will and all the staff are genuinely a dream to work with, always going above and beyond to make sure couples are having the best day they can, and this extends to the couple’s suppliers too. They’ve been so accommodating every-time i’ve shot there. I love the venue so much we recently hired it for my wife, Mel’s, birthday!!
