🌸 Meet the Judges -Sarah Hills-Ingyon 🌸
Creative Director of Sarah’s Designs, RHS judge, mentor, and full-time flower + plant enthusiast based in beautiful East Devon, where nature and sustainability are a huge inspiration 🌿 A proud past Chair and member of the UK Floristry Judges Guild, she’s all about pushing the boundaries of floral design.
With 45+ years in floristry (she started at 15!), Sarah went from opening her first flower shop at 18 🌿 to winning RHS Chelsea medals and judging top competitions across the UK. A creative powerhouse and lifelong learner, Sarah’s also an enthusiastic crafter, from hat making to jewellery design to felting and glassblowing 💫
When not mentoring the next generation of florists, examining or judging, you’ll find her co-running the Sid Valley Country Hotel with her husband, gardening with her black labs in their organic flower meadows, or enjoying her family and grandchildren... oh yes and a well-earned glass of wine or fizz 🍾 (with dark chocolate, of course 🍫).💡 Top tip to competitors:
“Enjoy the journey, practise, practise, practise (in an ideal world!) then let your originality shine through. It’s not always all about the winning, it’s the taking part!”
💬 “Competitions are the heart of our industry as they keep standards high and keep creativity flowing. It’s an honour to judge and support the future of floristry.”

🌿✨ “Nature Elevated” ✨🌿

This breathtaking 9-foot-high floral installation was created by Howard Franklin, one of our talented UK Floristry Judges Guild members, for the Festival of Flowers at St. Chad’s, Shrewsbury. 💐🇬🇧

Designed using entirely garden-grown British materials, this towering arrangement is a celebration of seasonal abundance, sustainability, and floral artistry. From the soft textures of cow parsley to the bold forms of lupins, every detail reflects Howard’s incredible skill and sensitivity to nature’s palette.

A stunning example of the craftsmanship and creativity we’re proud to champion within the Guild. 🌸👏

🌸✨ Meet the Judge: Lynda Owen UKFJG ✨🌸

A true icon of British floristry 🇬🇧💐 Lynda began her journey in 1966, opening a flower shop in Worcester with her mum — a choice that blossomed into a lifelong passion.

From teaching to competing 🏅 and achieving Best in Show and Gold Medals at RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court 🌟, her legacy spans continents, inspiring florists around the world 🌍.

💬 “Don’t be afraid and keep persevering. You’ll learn more from failure than from winning. Just never give up.”

When she’s not judging or designing, Lynda enjoys chocolate over wine 🍫😉, and finds joy in gardening 🌿, crocheting 🧶, painting 🎨, and writing ✍️ (yes — published books too!).

Judging is her way of giving back — encouraging the next generation of floral talent with wisdom, kindness, and a sparkle of humour 💕

Great news!

Great news!

They’ve been researching for years but at 10.00am today the dream became a reality with the announcement that OASIS® Floral Products (UK) had developed a plant-based alternative to classic foam. Called OASIS® Renewal™ Floral Foam it has already received the highest available certification - a 4-star OK biobased certification from TÜV Austria.

Announcing the launch with a team of top florists who have been working with the product, Robin Kilbride President and CEO of Smithers-Oasis, said “Our global Research team has been pursuing this project for many, many years because just being a plant-based product wasn’t enough. We needed this to deliver the look, feel, and performance that florists have come to trust in our petroleum-based OASIS® Floral Foams. At last, we have achieved it!”

The full story is over on our website … if all goes to plan, Spring will see the first bricks roll off the UK production line with sampling packs available in February.
