Making Somerset the Edinburgh of the South!! Following the amazing success of Taunton's first Comedy Festival in June 2013 I thought this a good opportunity to explain who I am and what my goals and ambitions are....

I was born in Taunton and have lived here all my life. I am absolutely passionate about helping to make Taunton a fantastic town to live in and also to attract visitors. My plan is t

o arrange events and shows to encourage visitors to come to Taunton!
• Shop in Taunton Town Centre
• Eat in our restaurants
• Drink in our pubs
• Stay in our hotels
• Really boost Taunton’s economy
• Provide employment for Taunton residents
• Use LOCAL caterers and event support from LOCAL businesses
The ultimate goal is to raise Taunton’s Cultural reputation and raise enough money and enthusiasm to build a 1000+ capacity venue in the centre of Taunton! A building with fully flexible walls and seating for exhibitions, conferences, travelling West End Shows, Comedy Shows, bands, dancing…everything. The first stage of this plan is to welcome back and help the Brewhouse to become successful and the real heart and soul of our town.

What a brilliant night!

Last night was Suzy Bennett and Jon Wagstaffe! Fabulous 👌

Mark will be performing alongside rising comedy stars at the Somerset Comedy Festival! Having grown up in Bristol, Mark is no stranger to Somerset. In his interview with What's On Somerset, he said:

“Bristol has changed and buzzy place, Wookey Hole is a different proposition! The last time I was there I was on a school trip more than 30 years ago so I am due for another visit! I have always had a taste for strange and intrinsically odd settings. My Wookey appearance is more of a rogue offering, not the tour material so really it’s anyone’s guess!"

How it all started…. A bit about me...

My name is Trish Caller. I was born in Taunton, Somerset and have lived here all my life. I am happily married to my husband Al and have two brilliant children, Laura and Daniel who are both grown up and have flown the nest! I also have an awesome Grandson called Victor who was born in Taunton in June 2017!

My first job was as a printer in the 1970’s! I won ‘Offset Litho Printer’ of the year in 1983! I was a barmaid in the Four Alls when I met my husband in 1985. Other jobs included being a Breast-Feeding Counsellor for mums with premature or multiple birth babies! Following the births of my own children I worked for a few years with British Telecom…. One of my roles was as a 100 and 999 Operator! This was a brilliant job and I loved it. Answering emergency calls and helping people. When my son started primary school, I went to work at the UKHO (MOD Civil Service) in Taunton. I started in recruitment and HR. Then followed various roles in Communications, Projects and Programmes, and being a PA to Board Level Directors. During my time there I learned so many different skills. I didn’t fully appreciate them until I left in 2014! My skills are exactly what I need to run my own business.

I have always loved LIVE Stand Up Comedy! Laughing really is the best medicine.

Whilst at the UKHO I led a team from the charity committee to put on Taunton’s 1st ever comedy festival in a huge marquee in the grounds of Taunton School. The event SOLD OUT and over 1000 people had a great night laughing at a whole line up of fab, talented comedians topped off with the king of one liner comedy Milton Jones.
