Dragon Hall is a treasured Grade-1 listed merchant’s trading hall in the heart of Norwich. The adjacent glass gallery and garden make this a self contained event-space ideal for a wedding.
When I was approached about decorating the glass gallery space for a summer wedding, I knew this had potential for a beautiful burst of balloon colour.
Visually, the glass structure with its medieval backdrop of Dragon Hall is enticing for one of my suspended balloon arrays.
The venue offers a rare opportunity to view the balloon installation from inside and outside the building.
The only concern was the the sunshine. This is an all-glass structure - effectively a giant greenhouse. I was wanting to display balloons which do not like heat or direct sunlight, both of which are amplified in this environment (especially at the end of June at the tail end of a heatwave).
I am pleased to say that not one balloon burst! I took every extra precautions at a balloon creative’s disposal. I double layered each balloon, I pre-inflated, I under-inflated very balloon to two thirds it’s size. The thicker layer of latex gave better protection against any expansion or degradation that accelerates in the sun and heat.
The team at were great for allowing me access and experimentation to make this work.
A lot of venues understandably discourage the use of helium balloons. My air-filled suspended solutions have no risk of helium balloons getting stuck in high ceilings. I ensure that everything is safely rigged in a damage-free way and take care of all the installation, derig and disposal. It’s a full service.
If you have a challenging venue or a space to personalise with a bit of colour then please get in touch and I’ll be happy to explore options and suggestions with you.
